Very useful techniques shared in this video. I already use most of the settings you described here. The only place I differ is the number of focus points to be used during photographing birds in flight. As you said, I agree, d9 is best in keeping the eyes of the birds sharp (instead off the wing tips). But it is very difficult and challenging to pan a heavy 200-500mm lens keeping the eyes of the bird within the 9-point focus area, since it is small. I personally prefer using d51 for shooting flights with f7.1 aperture. So that even if the bird slightly goes out of the center of the frame camera is still able to focus it. And using f7.1 or f8, depth of field will cover up the sharpness area so as to keep the eyes reasonably sharp.
