I hope hype can deliver expectations... A perfect cruiser under 5 lakhs, and a perfect upgrade for existing RE 350s owners... I would definitely recommend Super Meteor to my uncle, who rides a Thunderbird 350, and is willing to buy Meteor 350...
Booked it yesterday, super sexy to drive and no price competition what so ever. If you want a 650cc(or more) bike in India, hands down this is the most cheapest one available. Not just the cost of it but also the maintenance part.
I donno why people have a habit of either over praising a person or an event and underrating it otherwise. This video was much better than what Sagar Sheldekar had to offer this time around. Crisp video which addressed almost all the questions perfectly. Thanks for showing the ground clerance stuff. The stiffer suspension also helps the lesser ground clearance to not bottom out on the speedbumps and potholes. Also a softer setup would give a joult to the back because of end of suspension travel of an already less travel suspension of a cruiser. For the similar speedbump my Ninja 300 with same ground clerance and smaller wheelbase might have definitely touched with 2 on-board, because the suspension is cushy (not overly soft though).
One thing is for sure... This is a lot of bike for the buck. But with Adventure tourer bikes in the market, nowadays cruisers are more of a product of the past when they were used to travel long stretches of smooth straight highways. Yeah, they do have the looking cool factor and the retro feel, but if you are a serious rider, looking to do cross country then nowadays an Adventure tourer makes more sense. But then, this is a good looking bike.
Excellent review! Just one question - Did you fiddle with the pre load settings? Is the lowest pre load setting good enough for someone weighing around 70-72 kgs or it’s setup for more weight? Given that it has more suspension travel when compared to Inty 650 (101 mm instead of 88 mm) is it stiff enough for someone weighing in the ballpark of 70 kgs ?
Hey Zaran bro, happy to see you review one of the most awaited products real time and truly a good one. Loved your review 👍. A quick question, I already own an Interceptor 650, but fell in love with this bike specially its stance and the premium components. Hence Would it be a wise call to buy the Celestial variant, given the heart of both the machines are the same. Is it truly that good and different than interceptor 650.
Yes.. This is why we are saying "Some legends are Born to be lead" The others just follows the same path.. I am sure.. Many of famous multinational giants will be rigorously looking the sales figures of this model to lunch their counterparts . If it is touchdown their expectations, NOTE DOWN THIS.. " THIS GOING TO BE THE FIRST STEPPING STONE OR A TREND SETTER OF A TOTALLY UNEXPLORED INDIAN CRUISER MARKET " Welcome to a new era with a bang🔥🔥 A special thanks to RE. for developing a pocket friendly authentic cruiser & showing the courage which no other brands ever tried yet. Shame on them.. 🤫🤐
Comparing it with the other big weights from other brands, this definitely justifies the price.. The bike looks like its from another brand and not from RE
Gangadhar hi Shaktiman hai... All things being the same then better to save money and always go with Interceptor 🙌 (Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 on road price - 4.5 L vs Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 on road price - 3.5 L)
Much awaited product, a segment which is not explored between low end bikes and very expensive imported cruisers . this will do well in overseas markets also being a better or equally competent option compared to Vulcan 650 or less appealing Honda Rebel 500. Ground clearance should be low to keep it safe for cornering and stability.
I think the prices are right for what RE is offering with this beast. Apart from the product itself, RE is like the Maruti in terms of after-sales service and spare parts availability. and many local RE expert mechanics.
Briante video is well done and thank you for speaking in English as a lot of Indian reviews are in a dialect that is impossible to understand which spoils the viewing. Keep up the great work, I hope in the future your colleagues take up speaking in English?
I have meteor 350(nick name VAYU)and my height is 6 feet, its been 1 year 2 months driven almost 18k kms. Faced a lot of tale bone issue during cruising. Appreciate drive stability of my bike. Back suspension is very difficult to manage when u encounter bumps.
Plus you cannot even saddle on the pegs and the rear suspension is not so damp! All this after booking one yesterday coz I waited for this one for 1.5 years. (ex INT650)
Thank you very much for this video, you covered many things other do not. My wife has rode with me well over 300,000 miles and her comfort is very important. You covered the comfprt for the pillion which most videos do notm you even sat on the pillion seat to show the leg posoition of a pillion, I've been trying to decide on which bike I want next, a Triumph Speed Twin 900 Chrome, Kawasaki Vukcan S or the Celestial blue Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. I think I am going with the Super Meteor 650. Thank you once again for this video, ride safe and enjoy every journey.
RE Engineers had a really great chance to try a 60-degree V-Twin engine rather than a Parallel-Twin, a 60-degree would have been more unique. But they went with old school (Build it with what you have concept). Its almost like slapping two RE classic 350 engines side-by-side. When you want do something iconic, you have to what your competitors are doing, If they had the correct geometry it could have been the Indian-V-Rod. Weak geometry and Power to weight ratio puts it down the order. Only RE enthusiast will buy these bikes.
Yah ek Cruiser hai ..or Cruiser Highways ke liye Banaai jaati hai... Gali muhallo or Delhi/Mumbai jaise Populated Traffic ke lie nahi ... Jaise American "Harley" ya "Indian" Bikes hoti hai ..waise hi apni RE Supar Meteor hai ..
I've remember i see this kind of bike in torque movie 2004 and Terminator 2 it's take too long time to make this kind of bike and it's finally came nice bike RE...👍
It's definitely a good bike indeed .. Being a pure car person n interest in bikes i enjoy bike contents also .. To all XUV people out there u can expect max of 22 kmpl in in eco drive style... I found that informative to.. btw i am a lunatic person ☸️
Can it be a good commuter though? I know it's not trying to be one, but most of the Indians would want to use it for both purposes i.e. commuting and touring.
Though considerably heavier than the Interceptor, this kerb weight is about average for a cruiser of this displacement (the Vulcan S is a very similar 235kg). More important than the figure, though, is how the weight is distributed and how balanced the motorcycle feels.
Actually it depends on how much you want to spent on servicing HD must be costing twice or more the servicing cost of this Super meteor servicing cost Engines are i think equally reliable on both But the upper hand of Re is that it makes bikes keeping in mind some of the Indian conditions I think HD must have low GC and the Engine heat must also be a lot So decide based on ride and practicality, not based on specs i guess
I have very bad exp. On first day of super meteor 650. after bike pickup within 20 km.of ride bike broke down. Worst part service center dont have issue part to be replace .. Alter net solution is Service center took part from test drive bike and fix to my bike..
Perfect but not for Indian roads. Not every highway is going to be the one that you guys went on for this review. Just for the weight benefit, Meteor or the Classic would be the best bet.
No test ride is available in Ahmedabad...... forget about small cities.....dealer saying test ride is available in Feb end.....till then one can pay booking amount and if you don't like test drive than they will refund the booking amount.....how ridiculous is that???
I expected a 130- 140 plus cruising speed but from the video it sounds as if the bike would start giving off vibrations from merely a 100. Heavy vibrations over long distances increases fatigue and that defeats the purpose of a cruiser. Knowing RE, the refinement is likely to go down over time. Disappointed. Expected more.
@@sidmallya7421 you are right but Classic Legend have already hinted that Yezdi Roadking will be using 650 engine in future for indian bikes and BSA will be for overseas.
Looks like it's available for promotional test rides only.. No showroom in Chennai has been given test ride vehicles for customers.. Does RE really think that they can sell by just showing the vehicle..
This is a proper speed breaker. These will not bother, but most of India is filled with unscientific speed breakers. And with 240kg it will scrape definately
So two things to take away from this review... #1 The customizing world needs to work on a half fairing to make it a true bagger. That would be a helluva sight. #2 GET THE TOURING SEAT.

So according to you, should i go with this bike or a used (5000km )HD 1200 Roadster?
5000km means it's a new bike. At what price you are getting it? HDs are expensive to maintain and are not so well known for reliability though.

1) How is the back shock_absorber..? Is it uncomfortable?
2) The brakes are said to heat..Is that right??
