It is becoming increasingly more difficult to find reliable real world professional reviews here on UA-cam these days. I have waited for you to do this review for so long and it was worth the wait. Hope I dont sound sexist but there are way too many attractive young ladies with zero experience jumping on the band wagon, and relying on tight clothing and partially unzipped jackets to get views.
You're right.
@@chrispekel5709 ditto! they make me cringe!
I hope Stuart doesn’t join the trend and start wearing tight jeans and unzipped jacket😎
@@stevemiller1203 😂😂😂
I recently read that the 2023 650 twins are receiving some of the updated switch gear and a USB terminal and touring windscreen.
I have the 2022 interceptor. I would be keen to hear (see) Stuart's review on the windscreen.
I am also just about sorted on getting the Trip machine Outlaw pannier bag.
Has anyone figured out how to 'lock' the bag on the bike yet?
Interestingly enough, it doesn't matter what motorcycle, equipment, etc. you're reviewing, I find all of your videos informative, entertaining, and relaxing, especially on your test rides. You have an uncanny ability to draw your viewer in, as if we are there with you, indulging in the very experience you're in, if that makes any sense. Thank you for all you do Stuart! Cheers from Texas!
You are able to convey the character of this motorcycle very well. I get a real feeling for it though I've never been in the saddle. When you look at the bike, it looks solid...well built. It's nice to see a company take pride in what it's building, and giving people something they can afford. They're really doing their homework, and building brand loyalty.
I believe the better brake feel on the rear is because Royal Enfield has upgraded the rear caliper from a single piston to a twin piston floating caliper to compensate for the added momentum.
2 pot calipers are designed to reduce brake fade not provide more power. I concur that it is the larger disc that has improved things.
@@mekon1256 maybe but having 2 pistons instead of one also a larger brake pad surface most definitely will improve braking power. Moreover the larger disc that has been used here has already been incorporated in the entire J series line up. It's not new to the brand.
I absolutely love the look of the Super Meteor. Would like a few more horses tho.
Getting past 175 foot long road trains at 60 mph with minimal time on the wrong side of the road is important for a cruiser here in Au.
47 hp is A2 eligible so I think there a some value there but I get it
Hello Hedge! I get your point about getting swiftly past a 175ft road train! (Not quite so critical here in the U.K. as we don’t have road trains) Actually, thinking about it, we don’t even have some roads 175ft long ha ha! 🤣😂- best wishes to you cobber. 🙏

" First impressions - last impressions" . That's why people are constantly deceived by other. people ,bikes & stuff ! Well done Stu, -comprehensive review. lwant one !
Stu, tech specs on point! Love it, thanks for not regurgitating easily searchable info on the interwebs and devoting more time to the actual review 👏🏻
Yes Alexander, but The Ole'Man never mentions tank range, or real MPG figures. Which is important to a tight arse like me who rides a NC750x
@@KTU17N it’s the same 650 as the interceptor. Granted it’s a little heavier
Tremendous videos , recently tried the Interceptor and SuperMeteor having been away from biking since lockdown , working from home has meant that I wasn’t riding to work. Am now still working from home most of the time. Decided to get myself back on 2 wheels for pleasure more than commuting and the occasional run up to my relatives in Norfolk a trip of about 90 miles. At the age of 58 I didn’t need the power and acceleration of a sports bike , comfort is far more important to me now and I got all that sped demon nonsense out of my system many years ago on my early bikes. Having tried both I have settled for the Super Meteor in Celestial Blue. Now ordered and will be picking up after a honeymoon at the end of May. Thanks again for the tremendous videos, very useful and entertaining.
Technical specs delivered like a true pro.
Magnificent!
Sounds very much like most of the cruisers that I have ridden over the years i.e. comfy, fast enough and not so nimble in town (with the exception of the diminutive Honda Shadow 600, which was an excellent commuter). If I was going back to cruisers, the Super Meteor would be on the list but for my current riding needs, the Scram is everything that I need.
Another great real world review that sticks to the things that you need from a review! To have some negatives, even if only your personal preferences makes all the difference as any bike that gets just praise is dubious. And do I want the walk around and specs yet again ….. what a nice change! Keep up the brilliant work.
Great review. Makes you feel your there with you and the bike
I'm about to do my mod 2 test the upcoming Friday and this bike is on the first place on my radar for the first bike. Thanks for the review, it helped me to keep it still in the first place!
The review was worth the wait! Stu, do take care of yourself and get well!
I spotted this video this morning, and I've been looking forward to getting in from work so I could watch it.
Really informative review, I'm not a cruiser rider either, but like the styling of them.
Your channel obviously speaks volumes when Royal Enfield turn up with bikes for you to test, rather than having to borrow a dealership bike.
Well done.
Ride safe and get well soon
Great review Stu, so nice that the Royal Enfield range are just getting better and better. Keep up the good work.
Great review. And I should know, I’ve watched about a million of this bike. Thanks for the considered thoughts and comprehensive insights. Subscribed!
Great review. I'm not really a 'cruiser' guy either, but really like the look of this, even like the solid black. Looks very well put together and the engine is a peach. Appreciate your humour too!
Thank you for all your videos throughout these many years. You give a unique perspective like no other reviewer does.
It is your sage-like knowledge and inspiration that will make me a motorcycle rider by this summer.
Thank you again for all you do!

My pleasure!
An excellent review Stuart . I’m glad you gave a specifications nod for those who take an interest in such figures-newton metres of thrusting etc, etc. This bike certainly ticks all the boxes for me.
Excellent review Stuart. You always cover things so well.
I thoroughly enjoy your reviews! Please keep them coming 👍
Hi Stu. It's your road test of the 650 Meteor I have been waiting for thank you so much. Ride and be safe.Ron from Ireland 🇮🇪.
Stuart that was the best tech spec description I have heard to date excellent 😉just right . Nice looking bike going to have to throw my leg over one to get the feel and see! good review much enjoyed .👌👍
Great, honest and practical review Stu.
Super Meteor is a fantastic looking machine.😊
I'm quite taken with it too. The quality has gone up yet another notch. I'd have the exact same one Stu reviewed (same colour too) but I'd want the seat from the Touring model as the we found the standard seat isn't quite right for a pillion as it slopes back very slightly. The little back rest would also be welcomed by the other half. We spend a good 90% riding two up so her indoor's comfort is really important.
To no surprise, another excellent review. Being as I was not familiar with the Sunbeam S7, I had to look it up. I can see why you covet that beautiful motorcycle.
Sold my Interceptor a year ago , in the hope they would release something like this and my prayers have been answered. Thanks for a fantastic review as always .
She's a glamorous machine Stuart.
Hope you recover soon and thank you for this review.
Indeed 😊
It doesn't leak oil like the Amoco Cadiz though 😂. Another fine bike from Royal Enfield! I enjoyed the practical review.
My wife loved your technical description. Cars are always described by colour 🤷🏻♂️
I've gotta say, you're one of the greatest motorcycle reviewers that I've come across. Well earned subscribe, if you ask me. Everything was concise, you answered any questions I had, and a few I didn't.
I can't wait to test ride one. I was contemplating an Interceptor, but I wanted the luggage for long trips.
Welcome aboard!
Great review Uncle Stu, love the tech spec 😅, 👍, good comparison to the Sunbeam, when I was doing my apprenticeship in the 70's a lad at college had a Sunbeam in the green colour , always liked the simplicity of it and it's solid appearance.
As usual loved Uncle Stu's review. Hope you are recovering from COVID so until then take care and don't hang around outside much.
Great review, I placed an order for one about a month ago but still excitedly waiting as there's a delay on the colour I wanted. Going to be my first bike since passing my test last year and I can't wait to get riding and fully intend on touring around the UK/Europe in the future!
An excellent first big bike too. I wouldn't worry about the weight as the low seat height will really help. I'm only 5'6" and can actually manage tall bikes if they're light I'm also fine on heavy bikes if they're low. It's only with tall, heavy bikes that I get issues.
You're gonna wait a long time. Even the basic colours in a metro city in India have 4 months wait time.
Totally worth it though, you'll be pleasantly surprised if you haven't seen one in person yet.
Hey Ed, I’ll see if Mum will give me a pass for Europe 🤣🤣. Dad/Pedro (looks ideal for a road trip).
All the best with the touring.
@@aruncv1373 should have bought a honda. Hornet. Hundred cc more. Five hundred quid cheaper 🤔
I do believe the six speed gearboxes are a bow to customers who think the 5 speed is not enough, the impression is that the 6 speed will have a higher top end speed. Loved the tech spec discussion section, A+ there.
Thanks for the review. It’s definitely at the top of my short list.
Loved the specifications bit 😂
Thank you for a great review.
I will definitely taking this bike for a test ride with a view to buying one.
Bravo.
All the best from Denmark 🇩🇰
Its quite a nice looking bike. I am a RE fan as Im an old fart myself so I go for the bikes of my youth but I think they did a good job on this model. It brings RE into the modern age. Not my style but lets hope it sells well , I think it will.
I agree Elmer me to 66 plus ime enfield mad love the brand ! And my 350 classic in grey
@@williamtaylor874 I agree 100%, I'm 62 and my 350 Classic in grey is perfect (as perfect as my semi hollow 335) 😏
I completely agree about styling and making an attractive machine. They succeeded. Drop by bro, you may find it interesting. Cheers.
Excellent video as always Stuart, thank you. Enjoyed ‘the actress said to the bishop humour’ 😄
Great review, been waiting for it. You sold me on the interceptor, gave me something to think about with this one.
Love it that much i decided to buy one.
Love your technical introduction at the start haha 😂😅...Love that British humor and reminds me of some of the great British commedy shows of yesteryear😅The more I research this bike and see the reviews the more I am convinced this is not a bike for American roads and freeways 😢....only time will tell. Thank you for another great comprehensive review Stu 👏
Once again Stu a great review full of the sort of info required to make a bike review a great bike review. Love the bike , looks the goods visually, except for the decals on the side covers , I'd don't think they're needed.
Thanks Mr.Stuart!
This video helped me a great deal to decide between Interceptor and the Supermeteor. I'm going for the interceptor.
Thanks again!
Best tech run through ever , hope the covid fog doesn't last long . Great review Stu
May you heal quickly, We love you and your videos 🤍
Great video!! I always know that I can have a great review though this channel. I believe the 6th gear is more for the USA then any thing else. Highway speeds range from 65 to 90 mph and lots of long straight stretches. I own a RE Interceptor with near 19k miles on it and the 6th gear make a big difference for long rides. Lots of people in the USA wanted a bike that had more power to be able to get up to speed faster and most RE are kinda lacking in that department when it comes to highway riding. Anyway just my take on it. Looking forward to seeing this bike is the US soon.
Morning Stu i must say its a good looking bike , take care & ride safe
I've been looking forward to this review so much, I had to watch it on the BIG telly
It reminds me of the XS650 US custom of the late 70s..... I always wanted one of those!
Get well soon, Uncle Stu! Best wishes from Brazil .
Not personally my style of bike Stu but I'm glad to see Royal Enfield bring out what I'm sure will be another winner. Also my congratulations on giving an in depth review ( I get a bit tired of these one hour impressions which don't work for me).. I can't expect really a 4/500 mile day trip but that would tell us even more I think. Excellent work.
Waited for this video on this motorbike. Finally an honest test by , in my opinion the top motorbike reviewing youtube vlogger. As I expected spot on 😀👍
Thanks a ton
Good review on the royal enfield, come on its about time we had a review on the BSA gold star 😮
Two nuns on a tandem riding down a cobbled street. The one on the back says to the one on the front "Ooh, I've never come this way before."
Two nuns.😂😂😂😂😂 Like the actress and bishop reference by Stu. British humour 😂😂😂
I am admiring the Yorkshire architecture
I'm originally from London but grew up in Australia
Your buildings are beautiful ❤️
Great review Stuart, thanks!
Hi Stu, You certainly nailed that review. Probably the best. After not riding for over 30 years I bought the Classic 350 after your excellent honest review and I love the bike for the type of riding I do. I think the Super Meteor might be a good step up for me who is knocking on the door of 62. Relaxed and easy to ride. P. S . Loved the comment re actress and bishop. 😂😂😂😂 Thanks again Carl.👍
Always great views on this bike
Nice review. Looks like they'll have a homerun with this new bike in their lineup.
I was waiting for your review to show up in my feed.
Love from India.
Good review Stu. Love the tech specs segment. Two best modifications on my GT have been the YSS adjustable fork kit and the larger diameter master cylinder for the front brake.
The fact that there are tons of videos on UA-cam already on this bike is big indicator how big a hit this bike will be. I hearing it won’t hit US until this summer and US dealerships don’t have it listed for sell yet. Lot of interest in it. I bet it’s going to sell like crazy
One of the local Indian dealers here just recently started selling RE and I have no doubt in my mind that they’re chomping at the bit for this particular model to be available. What’s that young fella, you can’t quite afford that Scout? Come on over here and have a look at this…
I quite like the looks of this Royal Enfield model. It's even got real mudguards which would keep real rain and road dirt off you! RE seem to be the only company doing this. I can only think that it's because of their core customers actually using them as their prime transport and in all weathers. I think they should be compulsory, but then I'm piling on the years.. Great video Stuart, thanks!
10€ bet that Uncle Stu is getting this bike in his garage before Christmas this year. Particularly in BRG!
As always, a very thorough review. Looks a lovely bike but I'm too old and broken to move something like this around.
Couldn't help but notice you passed a parked Reliant Robin on the right at10:3 can't be many of those left.
On the subject of Sunbeam S7s, my brother chopped one back in the 70s. Goose neck frame, LW springer forks. Quite an incredible work of art. Heart breaking for any vintage MC buff. Have photos.
I will stick with my Meteor and dream about Hunters. A recent test confirmed all you said.
Keep up the great work
Great review. Now, I wish I had room for one. Love my INT, no question, but this machine is built better for a pillion. I have a hard time getting my wife on the back of my INT... It looks like a bike that will --- finally -- give RE the reputation it has well earned since 2019.
Love this bike. I sold my Sportster 883 while back and was very disappointed with Harley discontinuing them and replacing with a 15k plastic version. This will take its place. You could get 2 of these for the price of 1 Harley. I am keeping my 2 big Harleys but I am done with buying anymore Harleys and will try one of these. Think it’s awesome bike. Maybe later on RE will make a big bore version with higher compression ratio and higher HP
The review was to the point. Loved it! 👍🏻
Once again, top intro music....great editing.
Thumb's up for yet another superb and useful review of the handsome new Super Meteor. Funny you'd mention its somehow being reminiscent of the portly Sunbeam S7 of bygone days. I'd actually had _the very same notion:_ that this new Enfield was aspiring to something between that old substantial "Sunbeam look" and the R-Series '60s BMWs of yore in its livery--aspiring thereby to a sort of a Falstaffian elegance. As for the Sunbeam S7, like you, I've seen very few in the flesh, yet have long admired their chubby big-wheeled "elegance".
I just love your reviews.
Outstanding review!!
Man I want one of these so bad. Would be my first bike. Great review sir.
Get an interceptor. You want a bike that handles well especially for your first bike. The forward positioning of the foot controls gives (much) less control over a bike. It's cheaper too. And better looking - well to me anyway.
Great review Stu, thanks, take care 😊😊😊😊👍🏻
Great review mate, very informative 👍
Very good review uncle Stu well done.
Really like this bike, great review as always.👍🏻
Thanks for the technical specs. Perfect.
Brilliant video as always Stuart and these are gonna sell like hot cakes 😃👍🏻
The Sunbeam S7 is a very pleasant bike to ride ...my mate had one and I borrowed it regularly...shaft drive was a weak point .....the Super Meteor looks superb the more I see them especially the one you are riding the more I like the look ...however I do like a big single so I need to try the BSA Goldstar .
S7 love that look since i was a kid !
Ayyyyyy-Up Stuart, great video as always even if a bit techi.
I found your explanation why rear brakes are so feeble these days interesting to say the least.
Overall i think a well balanced and interesting video.
No I'm not sure what was the most useful or best information on here whether it was the description of the wheels or the seat😅. But the 40 mile-an-hour tuning was seriously the best info given and much appreciated.
As a potential returning rider now the kids are older and we can afford some toys, I’m researching a lot of bikes, with a focus on characterful twins with lots of torque. Mostly for my shift work commute and some sunny weekend rides. I’ve done the fast bike thing with a VFR and a CBR1100XX about 20 years ago and my desires gave aged with me. This Super Meteor is beautiful to look at and when they’re available here in Australia, I’ll be interested. Still haven’t convince my darling wife that spending money on a motorbike is a sane, let alone good idea though. 😬
Of the many reviews I’ve watched of various bikes, Stuart’s have been the best. Everything he says makes intuitive sense and I’m afraid he’s far too down to Earth and real to be allowed on UA-cam. 😁
Good review Stu 👍
Loving the tech specs❤
Thanks for the info uncle Stu
As ever a comprehensive, considered and trustworthy review from Stu. (Can't bring myself to using "Uncle" as he could be my nephew). This is a difficult one for me - go with my head, or heart. I really don't know - I'm 70% tootling around London, but it's so bloody gorgeous. Damn you, Royal Enfield!
BIKES? always go with Your heart!
@@stuartfillingham With no garage it's a difficult one. My head says go for a rust free economical mid-sized piece of Japanese plastic scoot - but I just can't....
@Doug Brown if you are not looking for a head turner, go with the classic 350. It is beautiful and does the job well.
Excellent review as always and I can see myself on one of these. As with many bikes, suspension is a weak point and made to a budget but very easy to upgrade, indeed, you upgraded your Interceptor. I can see you buying one of these and working with MoTone, sell your T100 (if you've still got it) and the T120 and enjoy the RE, you know it makes sense 😛
Great review as always, I love the way you deliver your information, I think this is a beautiful bike and I reckon you're slightly swayed... thanks stu 😅 xx
Thank you kindly!
I loved your sarcy tech specs 😂😂
Good review Stu. I like its old school heritage appearance, especially that tail light. I would say it looks like a good solo (luggaged up) tourer.
If my old HD Heritage get too heavy for me that's worth a look. Mind you a bike weighs nowt when it's moving.
For me, I wish that was my first bike. I got a Yamaha V Star 650 in 2001 and I put 65,000 miles on it. I was hooked to motorcycling the first time as an adult. Love the look, just didn't feel good with my feet in front of me. Nice review, wish I was in the market for one.
A thorough review, which covers everything required. I particularly like the tech specs, having a wheel at each end and engine in the middle forward is a brilliant idea. They did this with the 350 too. Genius. I feel the Sunbeam is a great analogy, so cruisers aren't always American. It synthesises the S7/8, bits of Guzzi and BMW too. I feel the word covetous really does sum up the feeling this bike gives the on looker. All it really does is make my post 350 meteor purchase even more difficult. It will be RE, but which one. Harder still as I want to keep hold of the meteor, so another cruiser wouldn't suit that train of thought. But a Super meteor and a classic reborn is now seeming to take shape as a viable option.
Morning. Just had to make another comment. I find the Scram perfect for country and back road lanes as well as for local town work. The Meteor 650 as per your comments is great on A roads and motorways, and that is what i obtained it for. Comfort on long distance weekend ride outs. More so touring round the South West of England. Absolute perfect for that. Otherwise it is a belter to own.
Honest review of a grouse little bike, I really like it.
I've had similar experience with the shifting miscues on my Meteor 350. I've a couple times had to do an upshift to get the mechanism lined up and stop trying to go in-between gears. Also, going and make a 4 speed box would have required some special redesign and cost, and separate manufacturing from the other 650 engine builds. All they need to do for this engine is use different covers. 😎
Thanks. You more or less covered what I have been wondering about. It is on my shortlist for a new bike and nothing you found out about it has changed that. In fact you more or less confirmed that it may be just right for me. So I need to ride one. For the moment that is a challenge, the network of dealers here in Sweden is still very much under construction and demo bikes are not easy to find. But it will be sorted, sooner or later. A two day trip to the importer with my current bike would be a nice adventure, and soon the weather will be ok for that. Perhaps even 3 days, as that will mean over a thousand km trip but there are worse reasons for trips than testing a potential new bike. Good to compare too, saddle to saddle. Next year is my 50:th anniversary as a licensed motorcyclist so a new bike for that would fit nicely.
Hi Stu hope your feeling better soon mate , spitting dummies out its got wheels handle bars and a seat made me chuckle , great feedback on the bike 👍
Excellent video and your comments were greatly appreciated. If all you did was swoon over the bike, I would have thought something was wrong.
Best Specs description ever. One thing I noticie was the suspenions travel: rear/front 101/120mm, better than the Interceptor 89/110mm, very nice for a cruiser
