I subscribed a while ago, and evertime Andrew uploads a new review, generally I unload a wad of cash in purchases ! Bought a lot of gear as a result to Andrew's reviews here... I need a new purchase to keep up with the norm.
It’s a cool light that I bought to replace a Falconeyes F7 from Amazon that broke after a week. The Fiddle is great and CCT/color accuracy is superb but it’s very limitative and inconvenient that you can’t change HSL saturation or green/magenta shift without the app. Basically the light isn’t fully featured without a phone and it’s not the fastest way to operate it. I also wish it had a magnet at the back like many other competitors including the F7 and Aputure MC. Lastly, it comes with a plastic diffuser that’s very breakable and I wish Luxli provided some sort of little pouch. 👍
Hi Andrew, first of all thanks for all the knowledge we can get from your experience. Would you be it be possible to have a run-through/tip and tricks video on how you load your van? Thanks again!
I always enjoy watching your videos. Could you teach me a lecture on how to use the exposure meter? I've always been impressed with the gaffer's assists using the exposure meter, and I wonder how they measure it.
Hey Andrew, have you tried charging the light off one of those car jumper battery banks? I have a GooLoo GP150 and there are many brands which are newer/better. Mine is 15,000mAh/55.5Wh and in addition to having a jumper outlet, has two USB A outlets that are rated at 5V/2.4A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A, which they label as “smart”. I presume it has some kind of auto switch. What do you think? I know very little about power and I don’t have a unit that requires a similar power draw to test it.
So I've noticed that Luxli sells a black body version and a red body version. Is there any difference between the two, or was this done for style? Fantastic video as always!
Thank you for the reply to the question about powering the 600 D with the 2- Bay power station. Too bad is not powerful enough. Hopefully they release a mightier version soon. The video is gone. I imagine perhaps until Aputure releases officially the product? In any case, I appreciate your input and opinion as always.
A bit more complicated than that. A battery manufacturer got in touch with me with some concerns. No way can two v-mounts supply that adaptor with the max output of 480w as claimed. The standard rating on the pins on a v-mount is 15a. So when the battery is close to flat it would be pulling about 18a running a Skypanel at 400w. Some manufacturers battery output ratings are very misleading. The batteries I used say they can output 250 watt max. But that's combined v-mount with D-Taps. That is not mentioned in the instructions. I'm checking over the new information, but if in doubt, I pull an episode.
@@gaffergear Thank you very much for your explanation. I apologise because I am not an expert on the science of electricity. Does that mean that the 600 D and the Nova will work but not at 100%? Or does that mean that they can actually break, either/or the batteries and lights? Will the workstation overheat? What would be the worst case scenario and the best ?
Hi, a message from the past here. thanks for the review and whatever reviews you do in the future. Ohhh btw (and im sure you get asked a lot about different light manufacturers) but whats your thoughts on Falconeyes products?. I have bought one Irisa 2ft tube light but im unsure about the CCT's as i don't have a Spectrometer. Also its 'Colour Picker' which you access via the app must be one of the worst on the market
@@gaffergear I have one and if they were any good I was going to get another seven. It’s a heavy light for sure (1kg without the battery) but the battery is charged externally and apparently gives two hours at full power (I’m timing it as I’m typing this). For a £200 2ft RGB HSI tube light it’s great value however I need to test the CCT ratings before I would order more
Hi Andrew, greetings from Chile. I wanted toknow if Aputure had sent you some of their new Amaran COB lights for you to test? I've noticed a lot of new reviews of those lights on UA-cam, but i was crossing my fingers wishing you got around to test them.
Yes, maximum output on the power station is limited to the amp rating of the pins on the v-mounts which is 15a. So it can power the Nova easily but not anything bigger.
More spread than an MC. So I might use it in a car foot well if I'm doing a car shoot. Or to light up the inside of a fridge. Where as the MC has less flood and wouldn't flood light a small space so well. In my large van I have 4 of these Pavo tubes, and 12 of the MC to give you some idea of ratio. If I get the right shoots I'll get some BTS of both and do an episode
@@gaffergear - Great video and channel. Thank you for your time. I was imagining that I could use multiple MCs in place of other smaller panels like the Cello, but I guess the compact and built-in battery of the Fiddle could be easier to rig than a pieced together rig of MCs.
@@cockerjc sometimes the Pavo tube is easier to rig because of its 45 degree angles on its back. It's often just comes down to which if the two I can gig in the fastest. I've actually just sold all my small luxli lights because the external battery is a pain for compact rigging.
Great test from the past that I am watching at present that was from the future ! 😂😂😂🙏🏾
3:39 Hmm. Is this a glitch in the Matrix??? ;-) If you got that in one take Andrew you are a genius! haha

I think it's just styling.

@@osoriony it will run the Nova no problem at all, but bigger lights like a Skypanel could melt the pins on the battery over time.

How does this compare to the Cello? Would you consider this a replacement for the Cello or another tool in the Luxli kit?
It's not quite as bright as a cello. But brighter than the Viola2 with the convenience of a built in battery.

I haven't been set them.
Uh oh, the Aputure battery power station video got taken down :(. Posted too early?
Can you create profiles in the app with different settings to quickly change the light without adjusting every setting manually each time?
I haven't used the app in so long I can't remember.
Saw your upload about the aputure powerstation yesterday and now it's gone, was there a problem with it?
