I say this without any satire but i love the most unwanted song so much. In a way its like the best way to destress if you make or perform music constantly, its so bad that its good again.
Sometimes people want to be swept up by someone doing their own thing. If artists bend to your every whim, their work will become infected with the parts of yourself you wish you could forget.
I find it interesting that, even though both music and visual art have extensive histories of experimentation and boundary pushing, only the most unwanted _music_ actually breaks into an unprecedented level of weirdness. I feel like I could pass any of the least wanted paintings in a gallery without a second glance- they're easily subsumed by the breadth of styles and abstraction already present in a lot of real paintings. But instead of turning into Webern or Stockhausen or something, the song ends up as this clusterfuck of essentially familiar genres mashed together in deliberately incongruous ways. On one hand I suspect that the surveys just didn't include "tonality" as an option, which is kind of silly, but because of that, counterintuitively, the music had to invent a genuinely novel was of breaking convention instead of lapsing into the default void of atonality that at this point has become such a familiar stand in for musical nonconformism.
I love the fact, that as you were describing the test, I was thinking. This sounds kinda like the most unwanted song in picture form. Never have I been so thrilled to hear the same people created one of my ironically favorite pieces of music
The problem is that in the question, simplicity is connotated positively, while busy is connotated negatively, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me if that was the reason people chose simplicity.
I was looking away from my screen when you said "release a baffling stupid product" and thought to myself "like the juicero" and when I replayed it and saw that you did put that there, it was some sweet vindication.

Christ, the comment pictured for a brief second at 8:45. That person needs some help.
Nice pfp

These videos are so well made
I find it interesting that, even though both music and visual art have extensive histories of experimentation and boundary pushing, only the most unwanted _music_ actually breaks into an unprecedented level of weirdness.
I feel like he's gonna start a fight with anyone who dislikes crocs
Congrats on Reaching 1 Million Subs! Keep up the great content!
I can't believe how popular simplicity was. I think that's what makes my art dull 90% of the time.
The problem is that in the question, simplicity is connotated positively, while busy is connotated negatively, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me if that was the reason people chose simplicity.
i completely lost it when you described the most unwanted song, i will check it out right away

Me: someone else can win the lottery
A couple of my favourite artists. Great video.
“So you want a realistic down-to-earth show that's completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots?”
Also you should win things by watching
I was looking away from my screen when you said "release a baffling stupid product" and thought to myself "like the juicero" and when I replayed it and saw that you did put that there, it was some sweet vindication.
always nice to see another lindybeige appreciator
This video is all over the place, I love it
People: "What's your favorite color?"
Me: "idk, I don't think I have one."

When luxury elite started playing in the background, I instantly stood up cause I couldn’t understand where it was coming from. This is the first time I hear Vaporwave in a video essay about art and let alone, any video of a similar format. Love the choice!
