Can't get over George Washington standing awkwardly in the middle of the composition like a child who's lost his mother in the grocery store.
Especially with the modern family walking past him like nothing.
No one gunna acknowledge the yawning hippo next to him?
Comments like this annoy me because at first I thought you were actually funny and saying something you came up with yourself and then immediately after I read it, he says it verbatim.
What about the Jesus deer?
@@aniquinstark4347 but there's no indication that they're actually trying to be funny. They just said they can't get over it.
I like how the "most unwanted painting in america" looks like a "painting" in the background of a 90s cartoon.
Nickelodeon.
that actually looked like a banger of a painting to me
There are some specific cartoon episodes like that and they are Dreadful
It looks like something you'd see in a Liminal Space map in Garry's Mod
It’s like they didn’t want it cuz it didn’t have the episode it was supposed to have, a liminal space which rather than evoking nostalgia, longing, & melancholy or even unease but frustration & dissointment instead.
I'm gonna do this with fight scenes
You know, I would love to see how that turns out.
Heat
tell us when you're done
I'd legit be down to see how the "least wanted" fight scene would play out.
given the amount of people who think they want realistic fight scenes this should be good
the most unwanted song has almost 9 times more plays on Spotify than the most wanted song
Most likely due to curiosity than anything else.
People respond more to bad things than good things.
The description of the most wanted song put me off it completely.
They're both comically ridiculous LOL. The most wanted song sounds like a discount Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen singing something resembling a love song, but mentions ketchup bottles.
It's more than 9 times better.
"Rapping opera singer" is something I didn't expect to hear today
It sounded like Mickey Mouse rapping 😂
Gurren Lagann already proved that the fusion is viable . The only thing holding us back is fear.
There is an anime called Carol & Tuesday made by the director of Cowboy Bebop. In the show there is a "Mars has Talent" show were one of the contestants does a rap/opera.
it's pretty fun actually, at least that part
OG Bulldog from Carol & Tuesday would like a word.
When Solar Sands said "or can you?" The Vsauce theme started in my brain, and the better thing is that he actually used the song.
And then the music got messy

How can you imagine a song your currently listening to? Isnt that just listening to a song lol
Man, crazy how you went from making fun of bad art on Deviantart to using niche art projects to discuss what it means to be human and what the future may hold in store for us, while simultaneously exposing literally millions of people to said art projects.
So cool to see how far you've come!

8:52 I love how angry solar sands got over Croc hate.
first solar sands laughing at the idea of children's singing being on the worst list then his shock at them singing about walmart in the worst song is pure reaction gold!
Children's singing is lowkey one of the worst kinds of music, but because it's usually parents who listen to it, they're not allowed to call it shit.
Strangely, despite me always openly hating it, I wouldn't have said it's bad.
@@Zaire82 it's so shitpost-y and awful that it sort of works?
@@Zaire82 Honestly, children’s choirs can be good if they actually know what they’re doing and have a decent amount of experience/training. But when it’s bad, it’s real bad.
@@thisisbetterthanmyprevious6674 There's that one song from the Katamari Damacy soundtrack that somehow pulls off using an out-of-tune children's choir to carry the melody, but... that might be the only counterexample the world has produced thus far.
Another brick in the wall by pink floyd is an example of children signing that sounded good.
The most universally liked color was generally blue, with green in second.....

The Most Unwanted Song was mine and my bf's choice of song to listen to when going on road trips, especially with our unsuspecting friends. Its really a big meme between the both of us and we unironically enjoy the absurdity in it.
So it's your fault the Spotify for it has a lot more plays than the wanted song, lol
Just listened to the Most Unwanted Song and I'm really confused on how it would even work in a dance club tbh, but he's right it's not bad
People in dance clubs would dance on literally anything.
To be fair all of them are drunk, and most are high. So they would probably dance to 3 minutes of goat screaming if it had a little bit of auto tune.
@@nightfall1826 Yeah the dubstep version of 'kid yodeling in Walmart' is banger tbh so if goat screaming was autotuned & had a good beat behind it, I'd dance to it

The painting featuring George Washington reminds me of Zetterstrand's Minecraft artworks because of how out of place he is
I liked Holland's least-wanted painting the most. A pleasant dining room scene with a cat looking out the window at a city in the distance? It's wonderful! :D
Same! I prefer it to holland's most wanted one
The best explanation for their tastes that I can think of is that they must be really sick of Van Gogh.
Except a naked man nailed to a cross right outside your window.
I’m Dutch and everything about that painting feels a bit wrong. And the color is sickening.
1:00 George Washington just standing there for no reason is really funny.
His posture makes it look like he’s a little embarrassed about something
The algorithm brought me to you, so it can't be all that bad.
In fact, it seems to be pretty good.
The algorithm made you a solid
Pretty sure that was his point. He said it was "worryingly good", not bad at all.
When the vsauce music hit, my life was completed
Moon Men by Jake Chudnow.
Heyyyyyy solar sands...
Honestly, thank you for making this. I think a lot of us need to be reminded that just because something is bad, does not make you a bad person for liking it.... well, as long as it doesn't harm anyone.
1:17 I love how that example of "least desireable art" could totally be on a modern art museum.
12:55 It really is no surprise to see the most wanted painting among Danes would include the flag.
My ultimate life goal is to eventually be rich enough to own every painting of a monke ever created
My goal is to own evry orange painting
@@aldenomer5501 what defines a monkey painting
@@procrastinatingcartoonstm5130 A monkey painting would be a painting including all animals under the Old World Monkey classification or the New World Monkey classification. While New World Monkeys are actually relatively distantly related to Old World Monkeys, they both have the title of monkey so they are both monkeys when ignoring taxonomy. Because of this classification, apes, both greater and lesser, are excluded from this. This means if a painting has a picture of a human in it, it is not a monkey painting BUT if it is a painting of a human, a gorilla, and a capuchin it is a monkey painting.
@@aldenomer5501 We do a little trolling

The “Or can you?” Segue with the Vsauce music at 6:10 was a stroke of genius. I can’t stop laughing
The thing about blue and green being the most pleasing colors to the eyes was noted by the military when they started making night vision, blue was more pleasing but the eye is more sensitive to shades of green so it was chosen as the color to make the image intensifiers.
Even the abstract painting that the Dutch preferred was mostly blue and green.

@@RidleyJones to me, it feels like a fever dream
I've listened to the most unwanted song multiple times.
It always tears me up, without fail. funniest shit Ive ever heard.
the annoying protester at the end, the shitty tuba groove, the bag pipes, the children singing about yom kipur and ramadan, and the opera singer rapping avout being a cowboy. I love every single moment of it.
I have previously listened to The Most Unwanted Song, and it is the most glorious piece of music I have ever heard.
The Most Wanted Song is so boring and cliche. I know exactly where it's going to go from the start.
The Least Wanted Song is unironically better. It fuses genres in ways I never thought possible, it keeps going in new and unexpected directions. It's like Bohemian Rhapsody on bath salts.
Would you by chance be a painting critic?
I get System of a Down vibes from The Most Unwanted Song. Probably because System tends to do a lot of jarring tempo changes and Serj often does exaggerated and goofy voices while singing.
Both of them are boring and uninteresting
Novelty sells.
The top 10 songs of this year probably suck in my opinion. There's something to like about them but I'm really tired of the melancholy, cheap emotional stuff (looking at you, Memories), simplistic everything or how how they basically steal the entire melody which I've only seen once. (Looking at you again, Memories) popular artists are a plague on the music scene at this point to me but I'll see what the top 10's are sure
The only "Most Wanted" piece of art is that *TUMBLR* video.

Been recently watching a lot of your videos. I love it how you always start with a simple concept, then slowly bring up related subjects to finally arrive at almost philosophical questions. Touching genuinely interesting subjects to contemplate about later. Overall quality content and a pleasure to watch.

Solar Sands became the Vsauce of the art world and that's just real interesting to me
speaking of targeted advertisements, I keep getting a wish ad for a zenitsu body pillow and I'm scared
oh dear
One thing that targeted advertising hasn't taken into consideration is whether you are a buyer or a window looker. I am an artist and a while back I went online looking at images of red velvet chairs to see if one would work with the painting of a mother breastfeeding a child that I was working on. Now, I'm pestered every day with ads for you guessed it. No intention of ever buying one.
I'd actually love to have Denmark's "most wanted painting" on my wall. It's a lovely work of art.

Oh my God I knew about these people from their musical work and I had read about their paintings but this is the first time I've seen someone actually do a video on it, thank you thank you thank you this is exactly the sort of content I subscribed for.
I can't believe how popular simplicity was. I think that's what makes my art dull 90% of the time.
The problem is that in the question, simplicity is connotated positively, while busy is connotated negatively, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me if that was the reason people chose simplicity.

Your videos keep aligning with events in my life. First, my friend tells me about ''The man who confused his wife with a hat'' and shortly after you mentioned this book. Now you make a video about the part made based on a questionnaire and here I am, going blindly to an art exhibition, and I see one of the paintings that you mentioned... I wonder what will happen next
hey solar, I had a shitty day so seeing something art-related in my notifications really made my day.
So thank you
I love how we started out with cursed deviant art, and now were getting existentially, psychologically, and whatever else-ly thought provoking
This is a great video! Love the nod to Vsauce, though it's not just that song but the whole script that follows a similar 'curiosity train of thought' style. I think it works really well for your channel.
Komar and Melamid are real geniuses. The very idea of their work is "Art should be simple". So you don't need special background to understand what they are doing and what they meant. I was really lucky to attend their exhibition two years ago. There were no "People's choice" but still quite an experience
I find it interesting that, even though both music and visual art have extensive histories of experimentation and boundary pushing, only the most unwanted _music_ actually breaks into an unprecedented level of weirdness. I feel like I could pass any of the least wanted paintings in a gallery without a second glance- they're easily subsumed by the breadth of styles and abstraction already present in a lot of real paintings. But instead of turning into Webern or Stockhausen or something, the song ends up as this clusterfuck of essentially familiar genres mashed together in deliberately incongruous ways. On one hand I suspect that the surveys just didn't include "tonality" as an option, which is kind of silly, but because of that, counterintuitively, the music had to invent a genuinely novel was of breaking convention instead of lapsing into the default void of atonality that at this point has become such a familiar stand in for musical nonconformism.

The "least wanted song" had more in common with my own musical taste than I expected. I like long over-the-top metal, and the more interesting elements you can throw in, such as electronics, symphonics, clean vocals, screaming, violin solos, choirs, opera singers or - yes- fucking bagpipes, the more likely I am to be interested. Probably not all at once, but those are all things I like. As long as I think the result makes sense, is grandiose, relatively melodic, etc.
These videos are so well made
I honestly think George poking his face in from one side as if he were a photographer checking the camera would be an interesting compositional change.
So you're telling me that the most unwanted song in the world is basically Death Grips.
