My favorite moments: Leon putting a hand up to rest against the wall when he's injured, that's really nice design there. Andy singing "I have no health." Andy not hesitating for even a moment when answering that S. stands for Scott. I can't wait for the game to come out.

Kudos to Mike for understanding and esp saying that trauma DOESN'T make you stronger 💛 And even in a funny exchange. That's the best part :D (It really is the opposite- it makes you generally more vulnerable and breakable. One reason why traumatized ppl get stuck in shitty relationships. Which is not to say that there is nothing that can be done about it. But it's hard.)
Something about the screen going black in the middle of the video as Andy says something to the effect of "Ohh, well we certainly can't show that" just absolutely tickles me.

Yep, could understand it if it lasted at least a bit longer, knives do not break after a couple of slashes, not too mention that the knock em down and slash em method was a fundamental gameplay technique from the original that is now ruined.

I don't know anyone that thinks being traumatized is a gateway drug to being a superhero. I mean, I suppose any number of people that think that is too many people but still. Nobody wants to be traumatized.
@@ghostderazgriz Not “superhero”, but mentally stronger. And yes, I have had this conversation with people. Some think it “toughens them up”. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is the adage, but not the truth.
Trauma doss make you more prepared. I was once a victim of a house invasion by armed men and now I'm a lot more cautious. I always make sure all doors are securely closed and I'm a lot more aware and concern with safety.
@@bern9642 The best things for keeping people from breaking in are motion censored lights, dogs, and locking up. I’ve never had someone break in to my house. I have five dogs. You probably aren’t any better prepared than I am, but I lose less sleep over it.
It can. I've experienced both ways. It depends. The only way we grow is through pain, stress, and discomfort; you cannot grow in a comfortable environment, and you cannot solve your problems/issues by running/hiding from them.
I've lived in Hell, and I've been broken so many times, and I've been hopeless and suicidal and filled with self-loathing cuz I was trained to think I was the problem. When I finally clawed my way out, I was much stronger and tougher and wiser. It's always a choice; in the end, no one's gonna save you but you.
BUT, yeah, if you can't get out, if you're beaten down and abused your whole life, if you are used to it and accept it and even begin to believe you deserve it, yeah--you can get fucking stuck, and it sucks, and it's a downward reinforcing cycle.
I'm big into psychology and disorders and abuse and mental health, as well as extreme physical fitness and mental toughness and "life resiliency." Like most things, it's not purely one or the other, but a bit of both, situation dependent.
I really like these guys. Very entertaining all the time.
Man, I'm so glad Capcom has finally decided to include classic enemy "El Juicio" from the original manga. I was so disappointed to see him never show up in the previous games!

I played the demo 2 days ago. We died a lot of times and then suddenly the church bells start and the chainsaw guy never got to the house or near us. We even got the shotgun lol
When I first saw that demo, I thought the same thing. How did he not check his corners?

I just started the demo today and it's going about as well as I expected. Even with free control of the camera and better controls in general, I'm still having a rough time. I'm at the start of the village, but I have just 5 bullets and I broke my knife already... I'm still bad at aiming in Resi games no matter when they were made. I'm not going to last long when the proper fighting begins given I've no knife to fend off grab attacks. Not to mention 5 bullets is about as useful as a fart in a hurricane. I'm very glad I haven't seen the offer for the Mad Chainsaw Mode, because given how much trouble the standard difficulty is giving me I don't fancy my chances on a higher difficulty. Can't save in regular difficulty at all either.
Mike with the "shit out of luck" remark really got me laughing.
I will say that I do like what little I've played of the demo more than what I've played of the original (roughly the same amount, to be honest).
Is there no easy mode? :o

@@scottneil1187 I did change the layout on the PS5 slightly, because I preferred a different option for running and also for crouching and directing an NPC. I did better on my most recent run since I opted to do what Andy did and not try to kill every single thing on the way to the village. Leon's movements are closer to Arthur's in RDR2, with that delay in stopping and such. It's a bit annoying.
So glad to see more Resident Evil! I hope we get a full playthrough, I always thoroughly enjoy them.
The new UA-cam monetization rules have really sucked the fun out of uploading games like this…

My favorite part of Mad Chainsaw Mode was when Mad Chainsaw Man said "It's Mad Chainsaw Time" and Mad Chainsaw'd all over the place.
I think this is unironically going to become part of my daily lexicon 😂
The real chainsaw was the time we maddened along the way.
So of all the people i've seen play this demo Andy both died the most but also seemed to know how to play better than a lot of the others, or atleast was remembering to do different things that others didn't come across or think to do. This is also the first time i saw the Crazy Chainsaw Mode

Being a native spanish speaker I had a moment when you read "el juicio" (the rapture) as "el juice-o" (mister juice?) and now nothing can be the same

04:52 looks like it says "se acerca el juicio" which means "judgement is near/coming" :D
('se acerca' = (third person 'se' in this case referring to the 'judgement') is coming close(r)/near; and 'el juicio' = the judgement
(bonus extras: 'juicio' also means a court case in general modern context; whereas the "judgement" itself is referred with the term verdict 'veredicto' like in modern english)
I never played the original, but I'm having so much fun with how excited everyone is and I can't wait to watch the playthrough, I loved your RE2 one!! Thank you so much Jane for pointing out that if the child of the president of the usa was kidnapped they would probably send more than, like, one guy-- I can't stop thinking about that!! Imagine when Leon landed in Madrid and realized his whole escort to rescue the *president's daughter* was two scrub local cops in a jeep! That's some subtle but brilliant Resident Evil silliness when you think about it. Anyway thanks for all the great videos!!
The reason for codenames for stuff like the presidents daughter is to make for quick and unambiguous communication in an emergency rather than secrecy.
Which is rendered pointless when Leon says "The president's daughter -- Baby Eagle"

It's also when lots of stuff is happening all at once people don't speak straight into their microphones and enunciate with care, not to mention back when lots of these procedures where created there weren't any digital radios so sound quality wasn't always great, so codewords are used to avoid confusion.
Fun fact! Yes, that’s *exactly* how trauma works…which is why the PMCs of the world are full of guys who would rather miss their kids’ teen years than change careers, and why guys that have been home for years are now explaining to their families and friends why the suddenly feel the need to vacation in Kviv. ;)

Did Jason ever use a chainsaw ? That's leatherface. Though Dr. Salvador definitely has a Jason from Friday the 13th II kind of look, before he had the Hockey mask.
@@Gatorade69 I don't know, I know he used a weed whacker once. Jason is very flexible with weapons, although the machete is his favorite he is not above using other things like a speargun. Micheal will also sometimes use things other than his kitchen knife now that I think about it.

When I carried a pistol I normally had about 54 rounds of ammo between my pocket and the gun. If I was government funded and
thought I was going to go rescue the daughter of the president I would likely need a second car just to carry the equipment. A .45 with ten rounds seems a bit optimistic.

As someone with a significant amount of trauma. No, it doesn't prepare you for more. In fact I would say that if the new trauma was close enough to the original it would likely make it worse.

Like, i would argue all thats happening is leon’s being retraumatized because he’s dealing with more or less the same situation as before: infected humans, having to kill and watch people be killed just this time with a fancy spanish flair.
It would've been funny if you could've just left in the beginning like this one game which name I totally forgot where you can just ditch your girlfriend and be like "There are plenty fish in the sea" as an easter egg.

you probably know andy, but you can do a lot more stealth in this version. when first at the village you can crouch and take out a bunch before it all kicks off.
