- 'Guitar Legends' was a concert held over five nights, from 15th to 19th October 1991 in Seville, Spain, to publicise the Expo '92 event the following year. This video was transfered from my old VHS, recorded from British TV in 1991.
This concert was a real inspiration to me when I was younger - the first time I'd ever seen Satriani and Vai. The concert is quite hard to find now, and I thought it should be shared with everybody. I hope you enjoy it :-)

The whole show is phenomenal .... and then Steve Vai appeared ... and everything else becomes irrelevant .... "For the love of God" Epic, phenomenally, completely out of every common sense. ....
This is the reason I play guitar. True story.
I'm right there with you mate. This and Knebworth 1990, especially Pink Floyd.
Me too.
I remember taping this live on BBC2, back in 1992, when I was 18. Still love it to this day. I can remember it note for note and wore my original video out. Thanks for the upload. Carlo 👍🏼🎸
This always brings tears into my eyes.....
People cheering for talented guitarists
Amazing times!!!
The tempo at the start of Surfing with the Alien was CRAZY!! all over the place!! Great playing from Joe though of course! 🎸🙌🎸
I never understood why most of Nuno's bit was cut out of this
I taped the blues part on S-VHS but missed out on this concert which aired before. All this was later released on DVD. Anyways, thanks for sharing, nice intro 😏
This bring back so many memories for me! I was pretty much at the beginning of my guitar initiation. I’d spent all my post office account money on an Argos hohner classical nylon strung guitar ( about £30!) and was teaching myself ( I still am, I’m 45 now) and recorded this on our first vhs recorder. And watched it, and watched it, and watched it! I also recorded it from the radio... must still have that tape somewhere!
I was 17 when this show happens, and I remember that I just fell TOTTALY SHOCKED with the amazing performances of Steve and Joe!
The concert was longer..last Horizon was played and Brian intro speech was CUT in this video.Extreme played two songs. Broadcasted in TV spanish in its entirity
This is the reason i started playing guitar
Backstage..Joe and Steve we're in a room together and Brian May walked in..asked to have a play on Joe's guitar, which he obliged instantly..Brian had a little play...Joe said wow..that guy just played Brian May on my guitar!!
I tried for years to find this concert. I went through the BBC videos for years trying to find it. It shows a truly great collaboration of musicians together. You will never find any better collection of great guitar players in one place.
Yeah but if there one with Jimi Hendrix and Gary Moore I'll prefer
@@Vagabon1729dho-_ good luck finding that one.
WOW, Vai at his absolute hottest here...and the playing is amazing by ALL too!
So sad that Cozy is no longer with us.. thank you so much for uploading this.. :)
Yeah! Great show. Still got this taped, somewhere. Pity we Brits only got a partial show. Joe's performance of AWMAWY has not been bettered, and it is this mesmerizing version that he should continue to perform in concert - standalone with that lovely, subtle outro; magical.
Wow!! That's some amazing trip down memory lane I've just had. I remember watching this on UK TV at the time, and it still blows me away!! Thanks for sharing this with us :-)
@@matteo-nf1kv thanks to you for the music and the inspiration Joe
This is SO AWESOME thank you thank you thank you all
Thanks for sharing. Great memories. I recorded this in my VCR too at the time. Great find!
Joe is a perfect example of how being a good guy (not to mention, a phenomenal guitarist) can open all sorts of doors. He has played with so many amazing artists and this concert just adds to that growing list. I didn't know he'd ever played the same stage with Joe Walsh and Paul Rodgers. I bet we could play a familiar game with his career as we do with a famous movie star. From Deep Purple and Mick Jagger to Steve Lukather and Michael Anthony, Joe has played with tons of iconic players. #SixDegreesofSatch
Definitely one of my very favorite concert videos of all time....every one of these talented human beings make life a little more enjoyable...thanks for posting it...ROCK ON !!!
I’m not sure how I even knew about this event but I taped it on VHS when it was on TV. The world needs more shows like this. Poor Nathan East definitely had a crazy set list but he killed it.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC...I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! ;)
Fantastic! However, I would have liked to see and hear much more of Gary Cherone. Seems mad that he was there yet didn't sing Cupid's Dead or much else for that matter. He's an amazing vocalist and front man.
I like Joe Satriani... SURFING WITH ITALIAN..... 😀😀😀
I was 11 when this was on and as soon as I heard Always with Me, Always with You I was instantly inspired to learn to play. Haven't stopped since. Literally wore out the VHS tape I recordeed it on lol.
This was a huge vid for me back when I first started guitar. After over a quarter of a century of playing and listening however, what strikes me the most this time round is how much more feeling and intensity the improvised outro to 'For The Love of God' has, compared to the composed actual instrumental itself. Food for musical thought.
They make music from heaven
Taped this off the TV at the time. Was gutted when the tape went mouldy some time later.
Moving ahead, , here it is! Not only that, but just bought a Bose speaker. WOW! Amazing sound. Better than ever! Thanks for the download!
One of the best concert ever for me…
Thanks for sharing
xcgracie extra time to write you in your
Brian May is a good Singer, what a surprise!
Why is it a suprise? :D Queen was always famous about its vocal work that consist of Fred, Bri and Rog. So he actually has been singin in the last 60 years. Many lead vocal performances both live and studio. And he arranged most of the vocal stuff on the Queen records as far as I know.
This is awesome, i some how found a video tape of this concert and I still have it!
I still have the cassette, damn, nostalgia kick.. First steps in music education
Nathan East!!!!!!!!
This is awesome, thank you!
I was probably between 12 and 14 and learning how to play guitar at this time. Still shredding at 50.🤘
thanks for sharing this rare stuff.... awesome!
OMG I had this on VHS too, loved it!
Esas guitarras Ibanez JEM.
amazing quality. Thank you much.
Thank you.
Sorry i'm a bit late. Yes extreme played more than words then flight of the d.b.b them g.t.f.o. Remember watching it live on tv in Spain. Thanks for upload.
I recorded these too, still have them and converted them to DVD. I appear to have quite a lot of extra recordings including the finale with Roger Waters performing select tracks from The Wall.
This is the reason why I love instrumentals and true rock.
F**k this is so awesome !!!
Thank you for sharing! This is fantastic!
I would do anything to go back and time and see this live.
sit in front of a big screen, and play it thru a godalmighty sound system, RESULT.
Thank you!
Had a chance to be there by winning the VH1 contest took my girl friend...were 2 other couples that also won plus maybe 15 others who were not the grand prize winners. Much fun and partying Joe Walsh was a trip.
I was there!! :)
Amazing concert i had seen in 1992 :))) on tv
i remember bo diddley, terry williams , bb king etc.
Wow...Satriani had Nathan East on bass...super
I think Paul Rodgers lifted this show.
But without a doubt Steve Vai was ahead of his time. Taking care of its appearance and staging.
From this hubbub the idea germinated in Steve Vai's head to create the G3 tours.
I listened to them all and recorded them on tape
Not a full concert. Mine have more elements like nuno's improvisation, cozy and ferrone impro with Vai and Wakeman impro on piano. And Vai's plays more stuff and Mai. But it's ok for british TV on 1991 :-)
I'm Spanish and have a full concert but i don't have digital copy. My cassette's was lost few years ago and have only a copy on DVDR. I can't found now, i'm trying to find but i have huge collection of old DVDR's. When i have my copy, i upload a FULL concert in Spanish, but Full.
Thanks for your contrib man :_)
Sí! Por favor!!!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
When I 1st watched this late at night on Granada (brit tv) I think. It fucking blew my mind mainly cos I was 16 and everything did at that age lol and still does today utterly awesome so many talented guitar players and musicians all together on stage rocking it hard.
WOW!! For me wonderful memory! ;))
I miss in the video the moment that Joe Walsh dedicated "Amazing grace" to the memory of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
He said something like "there's someone that is not here, but should be here. I would like to dedicate this to the living memory of SRV"...or something like that, I can't remember the exact words. Only 30 seconds, but pure magic.
AHHHHH NUNO AND GARY 😍😍😍😍
Nathan East on bass (with Satch) , Satch fans will note that Nathan East played on Joe's self-titled album in 1995. Cozy Powell (white man) RIP and Steve Ferrone (black man) on drums
Great upload thanks
Great! Never seen this video! I love Satch's music
I am the "motherfucker" who spent each one of those nights holding a stretcher in the corner of the stage watching these monsters and being paid what now would be 60 eu every night...and with free drinks from the newswriters bar...I was just nineteen, and that was one of those weeks I will never forget...
amongst all the glittery posing spandex and endless weedling guitar, Joe Walsh comes out looking like he's just got out of bed, and in the first 30 seconds wipes the floor with all of them....
lol Joe Walsh was added because all the big name potential headliners either weren`t interested or werent available. Page, beck, etc were asked but couldnt/wouldnt do it. Instead we get old Joe Walsh shambling on and looking and sounding obsolete. It was hard rock/heavy night, what tf has Joe Walsh done that was hard/heavy? lol. He was literally there because all the preferred choices werent.
thanks for uploading . I had this on tape as well
one of the best
fantastic
IM LIKE DIS ROCK
ITS FANTATICK
Nice touch on the intro mate... ;)
Get the funk out was cut out???
Hi Donald, this video is exactly as the programme appeared on BBC TV back in '91. Do you remember them playing Get the Funk Out at Expo '92?
Real y hice!!! Thomas forma sharing!!!
PREGUNTA...Es Nathan East quien toca el Bajo con Satriani? GRACIAS...
Abel Cruz si’
Yes
Drummer really screwed Satch over on the tempo for Surfing huh haha! Ouch...
Yeah, that was a bit on the brisk side from two absolute pro drummers-Steve Ferrone and Cozy Powell. I'm guessing rehearsals were limited.
Satriani with hair!
And without sunglasses so rare 😂
ol' Joe Satriani, was WAY AHEAD of the curve back in the day. At the FIRST SIGN of him losing his hair, he said, "Fuck this shit. I'm shavin' it all off."
Nathan East though.
Hm..in all respect of those guitarists here, I expected to see some other guitarists like Steve Hackett, Ritchie Blackmore and Jimmy Page for example.
you forget rick wakeman
Where is Steve Vai's "The Animal"?
