LOL> Thanks. I get told its underrated often. I guess thats a me problem and needing to promote better. Its ok, this is a hobby for me and the people that have found me I have really enjoyed meeting / engaging with.
Timeless advice and knowledge on this video folks! I am reworking my resume today with all of these points in mind in hopes I can get some traction in the near future and get that first cyber job! Thanks a million its priceless information from you two pros!
thank you and best wishes on the internship search. i just did a video with josh mason last week (livestream on the channel here) and we discuss somewhere in there how to manufacture your own internship at a company. could be worth a watch.
This made me realize how embarrassing my resume is. Time to roll up my sleeves and use some of the great tips here to rework it. I wish I was available for the livestream but it was a great watch after the fact. Cheers!
If you want a new template, don't miss the 3 that Joe provided as templates. Free downloads. Link in show description. No email or sign up. Just pull it.
The question from Michael German at about the 50-minute mark is aligned with what I am doing. I have a long history of physical security and telecom work so this is a good point for me to highlight how I have been preparing to transition to cyber,
This is great information... though I am not surprised. All of the Simply Cyber stuff I have experienced so far has been great! I would like to say about the part with including your actual certification proof in a resume... Nope. There are some scam jobs out there and now you just provided a REAL certification with the actual certification numbers. It wouldn't be hard for somebody that posted a scam job to now take those certs with the certificate number on it and try to use it to get another job posing as either you (yes it might be a long shot but North Korea has already done stuff where they posed as U.S. workers) or somebody else by changing the name on it. Just something that would concern me... though I might be a bit paranoid. I am also seeing this three years later and some things have changed with threat actors. I also noticed that there is a spelling error on the resume for Jose Luis. The word technician is spelled wrong on the resume. I am surprised that wasn't mentioned or noticed by either of them. It is important to ensure that everything is spelled correctly. It has to do with paying attention to details.
When I changed the website it got lost. I have it on a google drive and it’s “pinned” in the class chat channel on discord. Will share drive link too here when at desk. Or dm me on discord
This drives me insane. Every person I talk to gives me drastically different advice about resumes. For every good piece of advice in this video, I've been given the opposite advice by a professional reviewing my resume.
hi, I've been laid off for a year now but have done IT consultant work off the books. Should i leave the gap on my resume or add something like Freelance Or Consulting work?
I am looking at this from the other perspective as a recruiter breaking into cyber, so helpful, so informative!
Fantastic resource and video, thanks Gerald and Joe!
After two powerful videos I'm a subscriber! Thanks for helping the "little folks" trying to break in however we can!!
Super pumped by your comment. Love cyber and love making videos that people find value in. Cheers to you!
Hearing firsthand experience from people practically doing the job by itself is security. Thank you. Great job.
Thanks for watching!
Wonder why this channel is so under-rated. This is a goldmine of knowledge and resources. Great job @Gerald👏👏

Resumes like Jose's look great on paper can ATS resume scanners glean information from them?

Gaps are judged unfairly. If you were doing freelance/ur own thing and it’s relevant work def add it
