Hoovie has a rare talent and reminds me of a young Jerry Lewis especially the hitting a golf ball on the roof of the Jack Nicklaus edition Lincoln Town car it is still my favorite Hoovie video!!!!
No...this guy is a fLLLLLng cllllnt...he is bullying his grandma for the LOLs of us M***unts watching this...the millennial little botch Hoovie seems to think grandma doesn't know what he's doing...she seems to. Bless this guy.
Saw this video many times. That part with your grandma makes me emotional everytime. It shows the bond u had with her. I rarely comment on youtube but this time i had to. Came today(25 april 2020) to pay her respects after your insta post. RIP grandma!! Stay strong hoovie.
Hey Hoovie, was scrolling your videos as usual and came across this old gem, I know your grand mother is no longer with you in person but she must be so proud of all your achievements. Keep up the good work and god bless your grandma
Your grandma reminds me so much of my mother that I lost a couple years ago. She was 89. I miss her dearly. Your video brought tears to my eyes! So glad you spend time with your grandma. People don't realize how important that is! It gets lonely in old age as friends and family pass on.
*That bit with your grandma at the end was sweet! wish mine were still around for moments like this. Appreciate your grand parents while you still have them people! if you don't you'll blink one day when you least expect it and they are gone and all you're left with is regrets that you can do nothing about*
He's way better than Doug this guy is informative and has a style of presenting while Doug has an awkward way of presenting by telling stupid jokes or just nags about something.
This brought a tear to my eye. I used to kid around with my Grand Mom the same till a couple years ago when we lost her. Enjoy your time with that lovely lady..and the car!
Wow! you are so lucky that you have her still with you. I have the same car 1984 and I only wish I could have my mom around to take her for a drive and dinner.
They are classics absolutely gorgeous to look at and drive that V8 was so smooth in both the way it ran and the way the torque came on. Works of art those cars are.
Super cool video and memory with your grandmother. From the elastic fail in her waistband story to car karaoke with her...priceless! Wish I could have that opportunity again with my grandmother.
I've been watching your videos for a couple weeks now, and this is the first time I've been jealous of another man's actions on UA-cam. I'm jealous, not for the car you've inherited, but because you get to share moments like this with your grandmother. I wish I could share moments like this with my grandmother in my grandfather's Mercedes, but they've both passed. give your grandma a hug for us all, she's adorable!
It’s really great to see that you enjoy your Nanna’s company. I know a lot of people that just place theirs in the home and that’s it. Cherish every moment mate. God bless.
I guess I'm kinda of late to the party and just catching up on your videos. I am enjoying them tremendously and appreciate all your hard work, enthusiasm, and insight. I love what you're putting out there. I had to comment on this video because of your adorable grandmother. It's clear to see what a lovely relationship you two have. You can tell a lot about person by how he treats the older folks in their lives. More than anything you've done, this really impressed me. Looking at the comments below, it's obvious she has quite the fan base already. Keep up the good work, and thank you.
If you want a beast Benz from that era buy a 1986-89 560SL (V8 5.6 liter) and install Euro lights and Euro bumpers. Leave everything else stock (except perhaps the turd brake light on the trunk of the 86/87 years). Beast of an engine, ABS brakes, airbags, central locking etc with the cool chassis designed in the late 60s.
Michael Broski I agree,The 500SL is a far nicer car to drive than the 560, the supension is SO much better, and faster to boot, this is why I own the 500, not a 560.
What an entertaining video, it prooves that you don't really need expensive gear to make nice videos. Sad to hear your grandma has past away, but the memories live on I guess. All the best from the Netherlands. Love your channel, I'm binge watching it right now.
Your GMA is so sweet. Made me smile. Made her smile to see you singing Sinatra. Which, in turn made me smile. It was nice of you to show her off! Thank you for being a good grandson.
You have an incredible knack for making facts about cars of the past sound genuinely entertaining whilst having some humor often at your own expense thrown in and now you have an adorable grandma? Ok enough said. Subbed!
I remember those cars when they were new. I thought they were the coolest thing ever! And you're a good guy for taking your grandmother out and singing to her! (Also not a bad singer!)
I rarely comment on videos but I loved this one. When you and your grandma started singing Sinatra, I teared up. Made me miss my nana. You got your like and a new subscriber. Hope your grandma is doing well.
I really like this channel, but the last few minutes with Grandma really got to me. What a precious woman, who sang Frank with ya. Major props to you. I miss my parents and grandparents every day. God bless you.
wow...didnt think id have tears running down my face from this video. damn, I miss my grandmother.. hug your grandmother, hug her tight since i cant anymore
Hoovie! I’m buying a 1982 380SL and was going through UA-cam looking for videos. Stumbled upon this gem. Hope all is well. I still get to watch your newest videos when I have down time. Looks like you and grandma had fun together
I have just watched your video with your grand mother, it's incredible. The Mercedes Benz 500 WOW, I love those convertibles, I had two of them back in 1990. That's why people love you.
Wait, so I'm confused. You said that your grandma had the 500SL imported through the grey market in the '80s, but then all the pictures show it to have the U.S.-spec headlights.
Having owned several grey market Mercedes from the 70's and 80's the headlights were swapped with U.S. spec versions when imported. Also in many cases the park bench bumpers were also added. Though some importers were able to get away with welding a reinforcement plate onto the back of the european spec bumpers. Catalytic converters were also installed for post 1974 models as well on grey market cars when imported. What throws me off is the U.S. spec MB Tex interior instead of the velour upholstery. I believe it was an option on european models but very rare.
I would rather drive that car,on Wast coast Highway 101,than in Europe. Yes,for the most of the time, you can drive faster in Europe but it's usually very crowded.(And if you think that fuel is expensive in North America,...)
+Di Santos Various members of the Ewing family had SLs, but mostly they were '86-on facelift cars with the flat face alloys, Despite that, they're really good cars and getting to be worth a serious amount of money in Europe. gosportjamie yes BUT Bobby had a red 450sl 1980 in the 3rd or 4th season and even bfr that they had SLs. JR always had Sclass. I dated his granddaughter for a year in 2002!! She was very young and her father Preston(larry Hagmans son) called me and asked me to stay away from his daughter. We snuck around for another year! She idolized her grandfather. I NVR got to meet him sadly.
I loved this. I bought a 1985 350 SL in 1986 used (700 miles) for $40K. It was a wonderful car. Built a house with a little storage cut out in the garage. I remember putting my wife on a plane from San Antonio to Wichita one early morning and meeting the flight a 1:30 pm that afternoon. Car drove like a dream. Thank you for bringing back memories -a Texas Jayhawk.
Cherish grandma, write down her stories, family history and recipes. My grandma just passed away unexpectedly, and while I had visited her that day, there is so much I wish I could have done.
I rarely comment, which probably makes me a bad subscriber... that said, I love that you took grandma out for a ride. I miss mine terribly. I’m loving your videos, keep them coming.
This is so sweet! I wish my grandmother was still with us. I took her for a ride to the store in my 85 Mustang GT once. She actually loved the power and kept telling me to go faster. She complained about how low it was to the ground however.
I’ve watched a lot of your videos Tyler and always found you entertaining but my respect for you has grown immensely after seeing how much time you have for grand mother. Keep up the good work👍🏻
So awesome. What a fantastic grandmother you have. I had to do a double take when I saw you drive under the Beechcraft runway bridge. I have landed on that runway many times
Your really Awesome, picking up your Grandma and hanging out, or just seeing to her. I miss my grandma. Love your presentations, you have a Great warm character. Very alluring.
Tyler, I have the same story! My first car was a 560SL that belonged to my Grandma. She bought it when I was 17. I still have it and hope to keep it forever. It's 2.5 inches lower now with BBS wheels and looks and drives better than ever. Maybe you'll see it on the road someday.
Very cool of you to treat grandma for a ride in her old car and some really good crooner music. You are a nice guy to spend time with her. It is a shame her elastic band was probably older then her car and about the same age as Fly me to the moon. But you gotta love her. Very sweet lady. :) My mom is the same way. It's never too old to keep.
AMAZING to see you take the time with your grandmother...When I first started watching your video that popped up for some reason, I thought "O great, another spoiled rich kid talking about his parents money & cars", but after watching the entire video I saw a guy who was informative & genuine. Spend as much time with your grandmother & ASK HER SO MANY QUESTIONS about your family NOW because I lost all my grandparents back in the early 90's & wish they were still around. The older people really had to work for a living unlike many of today who complain & get free government money and are fine with it. I'll sub.
Back in my bachelor days (~1992) I bought a used 1985 380SL, dark navy blue with tan MB Tex interior. Loved that car. Watching your video makes me want to find another one (or a 560SL in signal red....) Great video!
Ive owned my 1989 560SL daily driver for only a year but it’s still puts a smile on my face. Its an event driving it. Classic, gorgeous, and built, built, built! Grandma has exceptional taste!
+1 for grandma. We need more of her
OCTO Manual94 she is dead
rc today no she's not...

Damn straight- grandma is cool. Much respect for the lady
We like grandma...she's cool
Hoovie, the sing-a-long with grandma is priceless and is just another reason why you car videos are the best on UA-cam.

You have a beautiful grandmother! Great to see the relationship you have, plenty of people take their grandparents for granted.
HirsiHD WTCH Amen!
plenty of people have terrible grandparents aswell to be fair
I used to take my 85 year old aunt for a ride n my white 86 560 sl with the top down
That was by far one of the best “grandma hangouts” ever. I would go and see her every chance I had. I never knew my grandmother. Your one lucky dood.
such a sweet boy taking his gram out for a ride in her old hot rod. made me tear up, hardcore.

Yep. Missing mine about now.
Missing my grandma and grandpa right about now too...... I always miss them!
James Fig, that sounds a bit dark.
Lost mine in 2017 at age 70 due to 2nd Cancer. Still miss her.
Great video, and became even better by taking your grandma out for a ride in her old car. Props
God bless you for treating granny like the queen she is. Btw....sweet ride.
Such a heartwarming moment when Tyler and his Grandmother started singing Frank Sinatra! ❤️
Aw grandma is so adorable :)
and she had a bad a$$ car in her day gradma in a german hot rod
Nice - your grandma is a treasure!
"and she had QUITE the dramatic story to tell" - cars and good humour. What a great new channel I have stumbled upon. More more more!

Love how you were singing with grandma , that made me smile and she's a tear about my own grandmother. Thank you for that wonderful memory .
I rarely comment on videos but I had to this time. Your are like a tolerable Doug Demuro. Keep up the good work!
He's way more objective than Doug DeMuro, some of whose articles on Jalopnik really piss off car enthusiasts.
he's just cooler!)
I like Doug's videos but I have to skip past the bits where he goes full short bus.
He's way better than Doug this guy is informative and has a style of presenting while Doug has an awkward way of presenting by telling stupid jokes or just nags about something.

Went back again to watch you sing along with grandma.... My grandpa recently passed and this was super cool to see...
Grandmom's are the best!!! Keep up the good work!!
That's nice of you to spend time with your granny I wish mine was still around.
Good comparison on those two Mercedes
This brought a tear to my eye. I used to kid around with my Grand Mom the same till a couple years ago when we lost her. Enjoy your time with that lovely lady..and the car!
That was a sweet video, you singing with your grandmother. You can feel the love. Thanks for sharing. Makes me miss my grandmothers.
"The turtle method" - I was dying XD

awesome story! I was very scared you were going to scratch the top putting it back on, but you made it look easy lol
New fan here. Wizard sent me. You made me miss my grandmother with this one. Great stuff.
Hey, anyone who serenades his grandmother in her old Merc is AOK in my books. Great vid dude!
Super cool video and memory with your grandmother. From the elastic fail in her waistband story to car karaoke with her...priceless! Wish I could have that opportunity again with my grandmother.
Nice grandmother. Good Sinatra's song.
This is one of your best. Give your Grandma a big hug. She was terrific!
Just so you know, most of that "old mercedes" smell actually comes from the horsehair seat pads not the leather:)
Do R/C! yep. I love the smell of my brothers '70 beetle
Do R/C! I thought the same think. Volkswagen did the same thing. Had a very distinctive same, espically in the summer..😮
I love the deluxe horse's ass smell!

1985 is a great year for Mercedes Benz.
Yah they kind have gone to crap in recent years.
not really late 90s to mid 00s were the crap years.
The early 200's sucked. My family has lots of past 2010 benzes and they're great.
we have to go back
For sure!!!

Thanks for not bursting into tears and sparing us that scene when you lifted the top.
like for the GrandMa!

@GSR 01 I think it's far more likely they were damaged and the only replacement parts they could find were from a us spec
@@spoonified52 Thanks! I was wondering why the pictures didn't match the current car. It looks better in the non-US spec for sure.
It's surprising that Hoovie didn't explain in the video why the old photos with his grandma show a US spec car.
First time I've commented in years on ANY VIDEO, but you got me with Grandma. Well done. Your character is on full display and you WIN. Nice one.
I would rather drive that car,on Wast coast Highway 101,than in Europe.
Yes,for the most of the time, you can drive faster in Europe but it's usually very crowded.(And if you think that fuel is expensive in North America,...)
