They had migrated from Afghanistan to the Indian sub-continent (modern day Pakistan) centuries ago. I'm Pakistani and I am not even Punjabi. not sure if annie is muslim. quite surprising to hear pakistanis do tattoos dot on face. becos islam prohibit muslims from doing tattoos even if its just a dot. esp in places where we need to take ablution before our prayer, we need to was the area with water. so any parts that required washing before prayer but have tattoos, the tattoos create a barrier with theskin and makes the ablutiion nullified and prayer not acceptable. thats why you dont see muslims with tattoos. but if u see one, usually they do it during their teens when they were wild and have little islamic knowledge. or it can be non-muslims reverting to islam and already have tattooed before. and in such cases for born muslims with tattoos and repent later, and for reverts, they are excused and forgiven. n can take ablution n do prayer as per normal. but RIGHTFULLY ISLAMICALLY BY ISLAMIC LAW, tattoos are not allowed. ethical wise it also ruin the skin.
no we don't do tattoos and the dots on is a cultural thing which a a tradition in some communities but with the guidance of Islam now this tradition is discontinued Alhamdulillah but we also have hindu communities in Pakistan so they do the dot tattoo on face
