haha ... Dave is basically me in our 3-player-campaign, giggling and all. :D We been playing since January and are always looking forward to 'Pandemic-Day' once a month. The most fun we ever had. We love Pandemic Legacy. Though I can never get myself to actually rip up the cards. :D So excited for season 2. You should continue to play and just mark the videos with Spoiler-warnings so people that are ahead of you (or don't care about the spoilers) can follow your campaign. Greetings from Germany :) love your channel
At 45:00, the legacy deck's instruction is to draw the top card after the Epidemic card has been fully resolved. However, infecting two cities is NOT part of the Epidemic card. In this case, the outbreak in Istanbul would not have happened before the legacy card was drawn and this would've made a difference in which disease is designated as **spoiler**.
Actually, with 15 cubes of each in play, it would have been players' choice between black and yellow, and, with the cure for yellow in hand they should have chosen black anyway
thanks! I always go to you guys to see how to set up my games and it helped here! for anyone on the fence, buy it! my wife and I played January last night and it was a blast
Oh man, a riot in Istanbul in the first game! That's rough. Istanbul is my favorite black colored city for research stations. It's actually where both my groups for this game put our only other permanent research station!
So if you can't fly into that city, maybe you could still build a station there and transport in. Take that, Legacy! = P I suppose with later stickers you'd still need to discard a card to get in, but cross that bridge when you get there. This was cool...just a spoiler or two. Enough to get a feel for the game, and still have plenty of surprises. Thanks guys! Might have to pick this one up after all.
Am I the only one's whose always been a little bothered that the team running all over the world in Pandemic originates in the CDC, a national organization, and not the WHO (which is in Geneva, Switzerland) - the organization actually tasked with eradicating dangerous diseases around the world?
33:33 Why do we care?! :D hahahahaha Lincoln's just awesome :D Great playthrough ! Would love to see the whole campaign from the best group out there, but I guess that would take so much of your time, so, yeah ... :)
If you want to avoid spoilers you can watch this game all the way up to 46:00 At that point on (I haven't watched) but it starts spoilers. The rest of the video before that point is just normal pandemic.
Been watching all your game night videos lately, new to the channel, love it. Is there a playlist somewhere where y'all continue playing this? Would love to see how it turned out!
I think you definitely have to play it with a strategic focus on the 'long-term' (the 12 sessions) as it's obvious that you won't win all 12 games. And having someone plus a research station in Eurasia early one is important in most Pandemic sessions, I'd say.
I think it's funny that you didn't even mention the first thing that nearly everybody says about this game. Well that sucks, you have to basically destroy the game when you're done. You can't give it to anyone or sell it. Seems like they could have made the same game, but replayable. The stickers could come off without messing things up, you could put the "torn up cards" in a baggy, etc. Anyway thanks for posting this. We weren't sure if research stations built in one game carried over into the others. Honestly, it seems like if you eradicate a disease, it shouldn't be in any future games, but I gather that is not the case.
It feels just like the second Andor, where u just NEED luck to win the game ! My interest in coop-games is really low right now, but I wanna have a Legacy-Game, so I´m looking more for Seafall on SPIEL2016 ! ;) Good Luck and have fun by playing :) Tristan Ruff
Thanks for the video, I really enjoy watching Game Night. Question: Do you guys have an opinion on whether there's a way you could play this with a group of five? There are five characters, right - would that work?
Since no one has posted these comments yet: 1) Hi Dr. Nick, I hope your career in this game is more successful than your career on television. 2) Dr. Petra Venkman aint afraid of no virus I did watch the Dice Tower guys play through the entire game and there are some nasty and surprising events coming for you in future months. To all those that wish to give this game a try, good luck. Yes, you can only play through once, but if you compare it to four people going to an evening movie and everyone gets popcorn and/or a soda there, this game should be less expensive. Also, playing this game once will definitely last longer than watching a movie once.
You should have read the legacy card before the infection step, which comes after the draw cards/resolve epidemics. The legacy card instructions say "after resolving the epidemic card", which means: draw bottom card, put cubes in the city, shuffle that card into the discards, then place on top of deck. The epidemic card doesn't say "then infect cities". Black wouldn't have been coda in that case I don't think.
Hahaha, funny game. Incredibly unlucky to have an outbreak on your first move! But your decision making, guys 🙄 I was screaming "Tokyo, Tokyo, Tokyo!" at my computer screen from the second move onward 🤦 That wasn't good >.< You needed an experienced Pandemic player with you there... Thanks for showing me what Pandemic Legacy looks like!
How can I subscribe to Game Night but not the other vids on BoardGameGeekTV? I mean, it's not bad, it's just that there are too many new videos i wouldn't watch in my abobox.
The BoardGmeGeekTV youtube channel has a playlist with all the Gamnight videos, You can 'Save' that playlist and check back every once in a while to see if new videos have been added to the playlist. That is what I do anyways, hope that helps!
Good video. Some of the strategy was a bit odd (putting Dave on a three cube city right off the bat and no one else bothered to clear that area had me face palming) but you guys got royally screwed drawing Istanbul twice during infect & intensify, using up all the black cubes and then making that the c0da virus. Brutally bad luck.
If i had a dime for every time this game has redrawn the just drawn epidemic city, i'd be able to afford the next version of the game. lol. It's the one thing i really hate about this game because it's totally out of the players decision process.
But with all the stickers and stuff, I guess it really doesn't matter. I like the idea though, just like the Risk game, but I never bought that one either. Monopoly Legacy would make that game better. Changing the income tax level, closing the jail, etc.
+faxhandle I should try that with a cheap Monopoly game, some stickers, and some Sharpie markers. I know pro gamers don't take Monopoly seripus, but it's a good casual family game.
i havenot had any version of pandemic yet. Should i buy pandemic legacy without buying pandemic first? I am also considering to buy pandemic on the brink. Does legacy version contain it or not? What should i buy? thanks you :))
+BoardGameGeekTV you can play a normal version of pandemic on your legacy board before you actually start your campaign. we played a game ignoring all the legacy items, etc. to get prepared to start our actual legacy campaign version. so you can skip normal pandemic, BUT if you wanna be able to keep playing normal over and over with new people etc, then you need a normal version. during legacy you will, and SHOULD, alter your legacy gameboard and items PERMANENTLY. so buy legacy and simply play it "normal" so you get the rules down, then start the actual Legacy campaign.
***** Lincoln, man... keep in mind the Cure's expansion is being announced at Essen and so should the XCom Expansion. I hope you guys will review them both. If you get to take the commander this time with XCom make sure to read my suggestions from your main review. ;-) Xcom is an extremely challenging game that takes much experience before you can really counter the alien invasion. The new stuff of the expansion will make that challenge even harder.
I always wanted to get "Mechs vs Minions", which is one of these legacy games. However, I just could never bring myself to get a game that was meant to be destroyed. The idea that I could never, ever go back and play a board game bothers me greatly. Plus, I would imagine that it would be a massive pain in the butt if you didn't play with the same people; would be really confusing to just 'jump into the story' in May because you are filling in for someone and the person who was skipped would also miss out on a "once in a lifetime" thing.
"Mechs vs Minions" is a campaign game, not a real legacy game. Nothing is destroyed or permanently altered in the game (beside missions briefing are in the sealed envelopes, so you must open the envelope itself to read it). Also after you finish the game (10 missions) it gives you an additional way to replay the whole campaign or any particular mission.
Just save 'em, also the stickers can be put on cardstock and cut out. Then just rubber cement 'em to wherever they go. Anything you write on the board or notes can be handled the same way. Not sure what else changes but I'm sure there's a way to deal with it.
Well, games changing between sessions isn't really new. Other games do that through something called a "campaign" for example. New-ish is the concept of asking players to destroy their game. (And yes: To me ANY permanent alteration of the material in a game box EXCEPT painting miniatures is most definitely an act of destruction.) I guess I'm one of those collectors who should stay far away from this game. To bad they couldn't just make a campaign book and not ask people to destroy their purchased items. :(
(Still a few spoilers even after that though. I thought you maybe had a better post-game discussion in T.I.M.E Stories where you basically revealed almost nothing about what had occurred and instead focused on the mechanics/experience...)
Why not - "just" - use ; counters - chips - chits - tokens - signs - items ...... - instead of ruining a G O O D Board Game & Prevent Future Solid Fun ? ;)
Unless you have a group of crazy people, you're not going to be playing all 12 months in a single sitting, so you need a way for things to be permanently attached to the board/cards/rulebook.
I know i am 3-4 years late, but the very first play that they forced him into making was awful. Alpha Gamering, Should have traveled to the red cubes and cured one, scar is going to happen.
im just here to say this thumbnail aged perfectly
Mad Mushroom Games yep, just noticed that too. 😂😷😩
Same
It came up on my feed and I was like oh a new video...that's how we have been programmed now. Haha.
You forgot to also social distance.
Me too lol
Gameplay actually starts at 26:00

i hope we'll continue to see more gameplay of this game especially this series.
Every pandemic game all sounds like that. "It's up to you." After giving a suggestion. lol.
I'd be really interested in seeing a full playthrough of this, if it's something BGG would consider.
Just finished all 12 months of this this past week. Very fun game and I am 100% in for Season 2. :-)
I liked the video of the guy reading the instructions. One one of the players said: Ah so were canon fodder.😂😂😂. That was a hoot.
Love to see the the rest of your playthrough. It is playable after but with a modified board and rule set.
just like all of you, i want to hear the story, and so i want to watch more. could you have more game night videos for this? :3
different months, etc?
thanks! I always go to you guys to see how to set up my games and it helped here! for anyone on the fence, buy it! my wife and I played January last night and it was a blast

Seeing Lincoln wear shirt I also own is a highlight of my day I wasn't prepared for. Great episode!

It's probably because the game was designed by an American so they instilled some bias.
Bob Dole I believe that was the point the OP was making....
As a Saints fan, I believe a bunch of Falcon fans designed this game
Will (or currently are) any GameNight Players playing through the season and uploading to youtube?
When is January second try? 😉
33:33 Why do we care?! :D hahahahaha Lincoln's just awesome :D
Great playthrough !

The destroying of cards is making me slightly twitchy, but this looks awesome. Definitely going on the wish list!

Lincoln is juuust such a alpha.... =PPPPP
Alpha gamer who isn't very good at the game lol. Every word in the first 10 minutes, was wrong from a pandemic strategy.
Thumbnail made me think it was a recent video, lol.
You should have read the legacy card before the infection step, which comes after the draw cards/resolve epidemics. I do wonder if you continued playing the gamer and advancing through the year, and if so, how you did. :)
If you lose a month the governement will panic and give you more funds. That's something at least.
Hahaha, funny game. Incredibly unlucky to have an outbreak on your first move! I would just put the cards to be ripped up in an envelope or something. No way I'm ripping them up! :)
But with all the stickers and stuff, I guess it really doesn't matter. I like the idea though, just like the Risk game, but I never bought that one either. Monopoly Legacy would make that game better. Changing the income tax level, closing the jail, etc.

+Officially a Ninja I am definitely talking to myself! Ha ha! :)
Spoiler Free Until: 46:00
For those of you who just like Pandemic Gameplay. Enjoy!
Didnt them win the month by discovering the cure for the yellow as their objective ?
i havenot had any version of pandemic yet. Should i buy pandemic legacy without buying pandemic first? I am also considering to buy pandemic on the brink. Does legacy version contain it or not? What should i buy? thanks you :))

You got to play the whole campaign guys
How about instead of tearing up and destroying a card, just put it away back in the box and pretend you tore it up?
You are certainly welcome to do that. -WEM
"A game that's not inexpensive"... that means it _is_ expensive...
Love you guys, but let Nicki talk! Lol
I ripped that card with my teeth!
I always wanted to get "Mechs vs Minions", which is one of these legacy games. However, I just could never bring myself to get a game that was meant to be destroyed. Ripping cards? Nope I'm out. :)

but that's the point of the game. Just like "Wreck My Journal"
Good thing you got those masks 5 years ago, lol

the game is good, but i dot like sticers and cut your objective
End comments really start at 1:02:15 (just to avoid even the slight spoilers of the results of January...)
(Still a few spoilers even after that though. I thought you maybe had a better post-game discussion in T.I.M.E Stories where you basically revealed almost nothing about what had occurred and instead focused on the mechanics/experience...)
A very hard game to win.
Why did they use red cubes and black cubes on blue? I think you have to use the corresponding color and not the one from the outbreak city !!!
0:25 This aged in a strange way.😷
Seasons for a board game sounds super silly imo, games should have replayability, not be a one and done.
pufff... a video game in board and cards....
Can we please replay February 2020 but have Obama in office instead of Trump?
It's so sad that tyranny has traveled back in time to force them to wear masks before COVID is even a thing...
??? You mask deniers are the worse people
I know i am 3-4 years late, but the very first play that they forced him into making was awful. Alpha Gamering, Should have traveled to the red cubes and cured one, scar is going to happen.
I'm always amazed at how people mispronounce words such as Bogata or Terhan. I like these videos but you guys didn't play this game well.
