I've been using boneless porkchops instead of chicken breast and the fish seem to like it about the same plus it stays on the hook a little better and you don't have to worry about salmonella. But I still use hand sanitizer after I handle it.
You are too funny man...I may disagree a teensy weensy lil bit,due to the fact that I catch an obsene ammout of channel cat off both,catfish Charlie and Triple S dip bait,and I have used all the crazy witchcraft thats out there,other than that you have given us catfish lovers phenomenal advice,my friend.
I use cheese dip baits in the river if you don't have a fish in 5 minutes you better move I usually have one in less than a min after throwing out I've had a ton of success with it most of the time I will have my 10 fish in few hours
don’t discount dip baits , have caught numerous big fish on it . Personal best 46 lb flat head , directly below the Coralville dam in Iowa. Always try to have options and use what you have but also be willing to try something different
Professional catfishermen use mostly cheese as bait in their hoop nets. I have used commercially available cheese based punch baits and dip baits and they have always drawn in the cats. I make my own cheese punch bait and not once has it ever failed to draw the fish in. I respect your opinion, but I'll stick with what the professionals use!
A lot of professional guides are using chicken now, and as stated, the record fish was on chicken. However, one should use what they feel comfortable with and what works best in their area. Good luck!!
I came up with a sure fire catfish bait... guarantee to catch em... you use cornmeal, peanut oil, salt and pepper and make it into a dough ball...whoo hoo them ole cats can't resist it... and the best part is when you skin them they are seasoned and ready to fry😜😜🤣
I agree with everything but the chicken liver. Of course I pickle my own livers which let's me use 100 percent of the tub. That's without using Borax. Refuse to use it. Great vid. Keep it up.
Hey Joseph, Thanks for watching! Chicken liver can work, and as I said a pound or lake where it has been used often can continue to work well because the fish have built up a taste for it. And it can work on rivers, I have caught fish with it myself and in certain places may use it again someday. I'm just saying there are better choices that will last longer on a hook but can usually catch bigger fish more regularly. Sorry. You haven't had a good experience with that. Channel cats will eat it, but blue Catfish seem to hit it better in my experience. Not sure if you have them where you fish. I use in on big lakes or rivers, rarely in small ponds. Make sure they are a small cut up nugget size also, that may help. Good luck!
True, Bluegill is most everywhere as well as nightcrawlers. Shrimp maybe something many people won't have, but, crayfish is in many places. I love skipjack, but, it's not everywhere.
They work but are not as productive. If so the professional catfisherman would be using them in tournaments. These Bates originally were used because people had very little money to spend on bait or the means to get some. But as stated the alternative Baits will far out outproduced the other baits.
@@bradreynoldsbtcatfishingad7656 We use Zote soap (pink) here in Georgia Altamaha River and have A LOT of success with it. We catch channels, and blues and fill the boat with them. Live bait is best for flats for sure and we have great success with them.
Ivory soap. He wasn't totally wrong there. There are things in that soap that are good for them. And just like kids, fish will try most anything. But, it's not the best bait option or every tournament fishermen would be using it when big money is on the line.

That us a great recommendation. Deer heart seems it would be a great bait too. It is all lean muscle and taste to me. This year I plan on trying that deer liver, as my dogs usually love it. Thanks for recommendation.
if you blend up some bluegill heads, chicken liver and shrimp... then take that puree and put it on hotdogs... its worth a hotdog :) the hot dog of course stays on the hook better... thats about it
I put my chicken liver in panty hose...then put in a jar leave in the sun for a couple of days...great bait just don't hold your nose over the jar when you open it.
No list of crappy catfish bait is complete without the junk bagged shad, that you can buy at Walmart or Academy. No fish has ever eaten that garbage.

I use frozen chicken thighs and stew meat with good results. It’s cheap and stays on my 7/0 circle hook.
I’m a personal believer in docs catfish bait I have got them since I was a teenager not huge fish but enough to have enough to eat
I use the Docs dip worms and will swear by them but I am curious,what Docs bait exactly are you using.

We normally look for large fish and release them. If we keep a few small ones, they need to be 2-5 lbs.

Always keep an open mind, but fishing for almost 60 years, never had much success with it here. Glad it's working for you.
I make a homemade limburger cheese mixed with calf brains and use sponge hooks. This is my grandpa's recipe and never has failed me.

Cut Bluegill, Chicken LIver, and Shrimp for Channel, LIve Bluegill for Flatheads, Cut bluegill for Blues.... .... atleast here in southern indiana

Try hog liver cut in strips stays on hook period

right on my go to is shrimp and blue gill and my secret is venison liver first time i try it i caught a 34 lb chanel just a 1 lb off the state record

Instead of chicken liver I use beef liver it's so much better then chicken liver
