It's too bad that they changed so much for the Movie. This is so much better!
Actors Equity Union requires held scripts if the rehearsal period has been seriously abréviated, and it is advertised as a concert version of the show.
Thanks for supplying that info. I was wondering....
I'm playing Doatsy Mae in a local production. It's fun to see the entire show from the audience's perspective.
Thanks for posting this! This is great! I've only ever heard a few audio clips and it's great to finally see it in its entirety at last!
This is amazing
This was a great experience. It's one of my fave musical films, so joyous and inoffensive with great performances from Burt, Dolly and all of the supporting cast plus the Aggie scene confirmed I was gay (aged 16). A lot of the dialogue made it to the film, but how sad is the original show, really, when you watch this?
When I heard Jennifer Hudson's voice I was so excited because I assumed she was playing Miss Mona. Nope. She's the damn maid. Really?!
Jennifer is the only singer in the cast who can credibly pull off a song like "24 Hours."
Likely, its because this was just before the Dreamgirls film happened, and she was untested as an actress. But she slays "24 Hours of Loving", and went on to EGOT.
@@divarobbie Yes, I didn't realize how long ago this was.
Why are they using their scripts on stage?
It was a one-night benefit concert.
