- A remastered version of an old video I made as apart of a 100 subscribers celebration in 2017.
I do not claim ownership of any recordings, logos (except my own) or audio played in this video and belong to their respectful owners, if you think an recording in the video belongs to you please tell me and I will credit you.
8/29/2022: Alright, so this video blew up because of a popular twitter post and I want to clear up some misconceptions:
-Stephen Arnold Music (SAM) DID NOT compose the 2006 weather alert theme, the author is unknown but it uses the old 2000's channel jingle in parts of the song so it was indeed made for TWC.
-Red Mode was composed by MMM (ManMadeMusic)
-The 2010-2013 song is known as "Titan Warfare" however TWC's is faintly different from the actual soundtrack variant.
-Lawrence of Astoria is a stock song and so is "Eye of the Storm" however SAM produced a unique variant of Eye of The Storm specifically for the channel. - Розваги
The Storm Alert in 2006 feels like a RPG fantasy Boss Battle, and the new 2018 version sounds like the genuine earth is about to fucking end any second
And the 2008-2010 one just sounds like some sad movie about someone dying tragically
@@muffychuthatoneguy7251 Total Oblivion vibes.
The latest version sounds like Othercide and Dust: The Elysian Tail OSTs had a baby.
2006 was made by Yoko Shiminora, the writer for most of KH tracks.
it is
I love how The Weather Channel’s answer to the question “What music should we play during severe weather?” Has always been “Boss music”.
When you watching the weather channel and a Hurricane's health bar pops up at the top of your vision:
The final boss of weather
"Hurricane Gordon and Hurricane Helene, Meteorological Partners in Crime"
That is what I called storm alert 2008

Imagine it’s 2006, you’re in a scary ass storm and Kingdom Hearts boss music starts playing
"Storm Alert (2006) is literally a kingdom hearts track lmao that's so sick.
I have a feeling weathermen are becoming too powerful to the point they have themes for summoning storms
"Eye of the Storm" is probably my favorite of all of these. I can only describe it as being the lovechild of Donkey Kong Country and Metal Gear Solid.
Yeah it’s pretty nice track
Little bit of Ace Combat in there too
BUT, you're fucked
@@DetectiveOlivaw Bingo, just add some opera too
gives me Metroid vibes for some reason

Alright, so this video blew up because of a popular twitter post and I want to clear up some misconceptions:
-Stephen Arnold Music (SAM) DID NOT compose the 2006 weather alert theme, the author is unknown but it uses the old 2000's channel jingle in parts of the song so it was indeed made for TWC. (Yoko Shimomura didn't compose it either, that's merely a meme.)
-Yes, specific songs did overlap each other in terms of years of use.
-The '06 song remained far in use as 2008.
Stephen Arnold Music made the original signature jingle for the weather channel so I'm surprised they didn't do the track. It sounds very much like their work and goes with the rest of the package they composed for them at the time (PM Edition, Weather Center, Weekend Edition etc)
Christopher Kennedy actually composed the 2006 Storm Alert theme
Yoko didn’t have to go that hard in 2006 😭
The actual composer is Chris Kennedy, even though it gives off MASSIVE Yoko Shimomura vibes.
@@unparamount I guess I was wrong lmao

Seeing so many people appreciate this music makes me wanna weep. When I first heard this, I felt a chill down my spine. The feeling of energy. I wanted to share what I listened to with others, but unfortunately, I was too young. Now I'm glad to see others enjoy hearing these tracks.
this is really sweet. i'm glad you're able to share this with others, today

storm alert 2006 sounds like a final boss battle

Why do they all sound like they belong in jrpgs
The first three are distinctly Metal Gear Solid
The fifth sounds like a Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts boss battle theme.
@@mirai9242 With a song name like Lawrence of Astoria, could anyone blame you for asking?
Dude the fucking song name is fit for a boss name
storm alert/red mode sounds like something im going to hear on yakuza 8's ost. twc needs to drop an album of this stuff.
Like a dragon 8*
@@AlexDimLight yeah they only just announced the title change a week after i posted that.
Snake, you have to infiltrate the eye of the storm to get to the metal gear. It's utmost priority to compromise the metal gear schematics before the patriots get to it first. It has a weather control type weapon that can create hurricane level storms.
That’s sounds like a mgs plot
Metal Gear Solid: Eye of the Storm
"thousands used to call this place home. But now, it's just mud and hail." - Reporter Henry Stevens, Chapter 5 of the games visual novel adaptation.
Mother Nature is angry. The storms have gotten more brutal. The Storm Chasers are our only hope now.
Can they free humanity from the wrath of these Super Cells, or will this be their final broadcast?
Find out in the Weather Channel's new RPG: Weathering the Storm
"Bad video game idea" (It's peak)
I got both Stephen Arnold's "Perfect Storm" 1 and 2 permanently burned into my brain during the 2004 hurricane season. I think I was like nine years old and we were living in the Tampa Bay Area. We got at least a little bit of every hurricane that season. Our transformer exploded in the backyard during hurricane Frances and knocked our power out for a week!
"Storm Alert" (2006): Prepare for the RPG boss battle!
Seriously, I'd love to play a game where that composer did the soundtrack.
2013- present music is straight fire
I looked all around the Weather Channel just to find this. What a banger. I’d forgotten about how good it was 😂
@@DoiInthanon1897 how u know I did the same😂😂😂
@@Electronic_Tec I guess we had the same idea 😏😂

Some of these sound like the BGM to an unfinished Sonic game, holy moly
Alert Mode (2002 - 2004): Metal Slug
Stephen Arnold - Perfect Storm (2004 - 2005): Metal Gear Solid
Storm Alert (2006): Kingdom Hearts
Storm Alert (2008 - 2010): Radiant Silvergun
Storm Alert / Red Mode (2013 - Present): Yakuza
2013-Present sounds more like PS2-era Ace Combat to me, but apart from that, I agree.
The 2006 one is a bop
Yup
hella
Man I remember the 2005-2008 one so vividly. My family watched the coverage of hurricane Wilma like a hawk. Still sticks in my head to this day
You're not alone. I remember when Hurricane Katrina was approaching and I heard that song in August 2005. After the Coasts of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi were being slammed by Katrina, I had experienced the East quadrant of the storm, which spawned a quite a few Tornadoes across North and Central Georgia on the afternoon of August 29, 2005. Then I heard this song again nearly a month later when Hurricane Rita hit Louisiana and Texas on September 23 and 24, 2005, as well as Hurricane Wilma in October of that year. Then in September 2008, I would hear this song when Hurricane Ike slammed Texas. Crazy stuff to say the least!
2006 reminds me of an action movie and it's so damn underrated idk why
it feels like kingdom hearts
Eye of the Storm hits so hard, having lived through both Rita and Ike and watching TWC throughout both (when we had power)
The music gave that sense of urgency and hope to persevere through these disasters
Though I would later go on and live through Harvey and Laura, I wasn't watching TWC and used the weather websites and apps to keep updated, so I don't have that same sense of nostalgia - they definitely made the storm alert theme more urgent as time went on, as in "You need to prepare now, this is extremely urgent"
You sound like a Texan my friend.
i remember the panic attacks i had over Rita and Ike, even though both narrowly missed us
i also remember, less fondly, the panic attack i had over Harvey, because i was told by the person i was living with that they didn't really care if we lived or died when the choice was made to just hunker down and weather the storm
Why does it go so hard though, like why is The weather channel's music such a banger
I'm always gonna be weirdly nostalgic for that 2006-2007 storm alert theme.
The 2010-2013 track used is actually sampled from a track named 'Titan Warfare' composed by Mark Petrie. Thank me later.
Thank you!! I have been looking for this for YEARS!!
Song now used by Fox News Channel as commercial outcue song to introduce hurricane segments during Fox & Friends since 2017.
I've found out that fact about three months ago.
@@abc-il4it I am so determined now to find a fox news segment with it playing lol.

@@abc-il4it I wanted to go back to this comment because I just learned that they used "Titan Warfare" just recently on Fox News for Hurricane Ian in 2022! They are still using it!
This would be a banger ost for a 90s jrpg
TWC: the video game
Alert Mode (2002 -2004) - Battle Theme
Perfect Storm - Force Battle
Perfect Storm 2 - Boss Battle
Lawrence Of Astoria - Important Scenes
Eye of the Storm - Battle Results
Storm Alert (2006) - Protagonist Theme
Storm Alert (2006 - 2007) - Rival Theme
Severe Weather - City Exploration Theme
Storm Alert (2008 - 2010) - Rival Battle Theme
Storm Alert (2010 - 2013) - Comforting enemies
Red Mode - Final Battle
u hit everything on the mark
This needs to be top comment its so accurate
I would play the sh1t out of that.
Honestly Eye of the storm sounds suprisingly similar to a jrpg area theme. I would imagine this would play in a place called thunder canyon. Storm alert 2006 would be the theme that plays when you fight the boss of thunder canyon, Stormslayer.
2008-2010 one sounds like something you would hear in a trailer or movie. Its got that epic orchestra vibe.
The taiko drums make it lowkey hilarious, like they really went full Marvel score for the weather channel
if Marvel makes a movie about Storm, they should totally use that for the trailer and soundtrack!
Who remembers the four new soundtracks they used for Hurricane Matthew?
1:06 love that so much, gives me Ace Combat vibes, fighting in a storm and stuff x3
mfw the weather forecast is MISSILE
2006 is my favorite.
It fits that era perfectly.
eye of the storm 2005-2008 is the most iconic one for me. man i remember being 7 and glued to the local on the 8s during hurricance katrina coverage. so crazy
Why Does Strom Alert spund like it belongs in either Kingdom Hearts or Xenoblade chronicles
allegedly it’s because the KH composer worked on it
@@espurresso I completely doubt Yoko Shimomura composed for a Weather Channel.
@@amosdeguzman9980 it would be funny though
I want to mod this into City Skylines
Lawrence of Astoria, Eye of the Storm, both 2006s Storm Alerts, and 2013 Red Mode are straight FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
Edit: Notice how 2013's theme has been used the longest and is still being used (as of 03/2023). They (like myself) must really like it!
7:04 this goes super hard
The current one is so good, that’s actually a banger
Damn "Storm Alert (2006-2007)" really feels like it came out of a Type-Moon VN lol
2:11 I remember that tune like it was yesterday. Hurricane Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. Devastating times.
man i loved when this played during the moore 1999 tornado boss fight
2006 storm alert is more of a boss fight music
2006 theme is fire.
4:11 if you want to listen.
The weather themed, stressful music reminds me of Pokemon RSE. Remember the part where a world-flooding storm, or a earth-melting heat (depending on which game you played) would happen and that creepy ost made you feel a deep fear for the wrath of God? Yea thats how the intense WC music makes me feel
this is literally final boss music
if you think about it storms are the final bosses of life
For all our works, we are still puny against Nature when it is truly pissed.
Storm alert 2006 is some final fantasy or kingdom hearts stuff. Got that parasite Eve piano too, no way it wasn’t Yoko shimomura
OMG you're right. It was reminding me of some game soundtrack I played back when I was a kid. I just couldn't quite put my tongue on it.
The 'Severe Weather' 2008 one kind of reminds me of Parasite Eve, too. Like something you'd hear when in a peaceful area before the mutant Mitochondria creatures have started attacking.
the most recent one goes so hard it's like fight music in an adventure game
This sounds more like a videogame ost.
2:11 Stephen Arnold - Eye Of The Storm (2005 - 2008)
Gummy ship to the Weather Channel World

7:03 Severe Weather (2008)
Weather Channel World stage song, roaming the storm world has been invaded by heartless.

4:11 Storm Alert (2006)

10:44 Storm Alert / Red Mode (2013 - Present)
Vanitas....again
what
I love the 2004 storm alert it's so classic I use it as my ring tone every hurricane season lol
“Eye of the storm” sounds like Pokémon Battle Revolution music to me
IT'S POURING RAIN IN THE COLOSSEUM!
same
Thank you, I’m going to use these in an up coming boss fight in my dnd campaign.
storm alert 2006 is the most beautiful music ever
they need to bring back "eye of the storm" thats nostalgia
why tf storm alert sounds like it’s coming out of a xenoblade game 😭
Personally my favorite is the present one specifically the sound of it makes you think your doomed
these all go unnecessarily hard
Eye of the Storm is literally Pokemon Pokecenter music and Storm Alert is the potential champion theme (also gives FF/KH boss vibes fr)
I wish I could find the name to the 2010-2013 one, there has to be a production music soundtrack somewhere out there. During that time they used "A Brutal Campaign" by NYB from Killer Tracks for a lot of the severe coverage.
it is 2013 storm alert theme
Titan Warfare by Mark Petrie
why does storm alert 2006 sound like kingdom hearts music deadass
10:44 I've noticed in more recently posted Red Mode captures that they seem to have dropped that opening alert noise, though it's still the alert noise the WC app makes for severe weather notifications.
I've had both versions of the song sitting on my drive but since both seem to be used (with alert noise or not) I included it anyways.
@@blinxcat Yeah I think I prefer the alert noise.
The alert noise plays when your area is threatened by whatever triggered Red Mode and doesn't when your area is away from it!
The best moments of my life are Local on the 8s during severe weather
None of the other songs have the sense of urgency as the current song has.
Thanks to the algorithm, I am now obsessed with these
Eye of the Storm, without a doubt, the best Storm Alert theme TWC ever made.
The amount of these that could be Ace Combat tracks is sending me.
If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the 2006 storm alert theme. I play that one on loop all the time. Second favorite? Either Eye of the Storm or the one used from 2013 to present day.
2006 storm alert goes hard 🔥
Listening to this reminds me so much of the historical 2004 and 2005 seasons.
The theme from 2013 to present is the screeching one designed to scare people.
I like the 4st one of it is cool protect it one at all costs.
WHY ARE THESE BOSS THEMES?!?
Now I grew up with Red Mode (I'm 12 and we got cabel in 2014. Man, remember Time Warner Cable? Geez, I feel old), but Storm Alert 2006 and Eye of the Storm are my faves, but I want Eye of the Storm tho
10:45 this one is my favorite & one I remember very well
When maximum sustained winds hit 88 mph you’re going to see some serious shit.
Wait but why do these all go hard
Bro why is it like fricking battle music 😭💀
10:44 nostalgia
But it says 2013 to now (present)
The current one goes hard
2006 was when a Floridian named John did the windy thing.
as any american would know, the times when the storm’s health bar show up and then u need to defeat it are the worse!
Listening to the 2005-2008 Brings back memories of the night before Katrina hitting our state 😮
2013 SOUNDING LIKE A YAKUZA LIKE A DRAGON BOSS WTF
4:17 this song has now been confirmed to have been written by Chris Kennedy.
Lawrence of Astoria is just Metal Gear Solid music.
you know shit is about to go down when Storm Alert/Red Mode starts playing
The final theme could of used the red logo. Would of been a nice touch :3
If you told me these were video game osts, I'd believe you.
I think the 2005-2008 era (2:12 in the video) is the best one. You always knew to come running to the TV to catch the latest on the hurricane that was churning in the Atlantic.
it is the *weather* channel they did not have to go this hard w the music
Red Mode is the best one 😎
The stephen arnold themes remind me so much of ace combat
i love storm alert/red mode
7:46 sounds like a soccer/football league intro
The 05-08 Local on the 8’s and the 2008 Storm Alert theme (Personally) are the most appropriate sounding ones for a Storm.
