I know nothing about DACs first hand, but already read a lot. Recently i purchased a CHoco Sound Emei power amp and i really love it, so i think thats the sound I'm looking for. Its musical and warm, non fatiguing. Some describe it as a tube sound, but with balls .
Im looking to retrieve a little more detail from my CHoco amp, but i don't want to lose the feeling of my music. Do you think that with this Topping d90 III, combined with my amp, i will manage to achieve that?
Or if i connect something more musical like Ares 12 , isn't it much of the same, or actually it can aid with musicality but veil clarity a little bit? Sorry for the long message, and hope all of this makes sense. Thank you very much.
i haven’t tried the choco sound so not sure what character it has on it, but the smsl su-x is a more neutral transparent dac than a musical and warm. The Su-x will extract lots of details. I feel like the most musical and warm dac i tried was the first ifi neo idsd dac
Would you pick this or the iFi Pro iDSD (ignoring the streaming and amp aspects, just the dac and tube stage)?
I have the D90III with the og A90, was actually considering trying the Pro iDSD as a sort of side grade. Judging by the end of your video, I should probably focus on the Pro iCan instead.

Thanks for this review, I am considering upgrading my Oppo Sonica DAC and this is the n.1 candidate also because I like the 12v triggers (very useful for me to automatically turn on my power amplifier) and no DAC from SMSL provides them (why?!)
