Brilliant drummer …superb …..and fantastic flourishes from the pianist…brilliant set from all.. Scottish dance music is in safe hands with these musicians . Well done all
The Giant talent of Jimmy Shand and his contemporaries were diminished by the way they were portrayed in the ridiculous BBC controlled media. Their musicianship was beyond reproach but they were reduced to "Shortbread Tin" music. 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Stewart, There may be some who know what you are talking about, but most I believe, think that we are blessed as no other nation on earth, to have the BBC.
The BBC had nothing to do with these dances held at Letham Village Hall. These were held for many years I used to join them back in the nineties. Great music and great dancing. This was not a TV show.
We used to dance like this - and to tunes like this - in my Primary school in the 1960's. I'm English - born and bred - but I must have 'Jock' blood in me somewhere in the past, as I love this kind of music/dancing and so much about Scotland. :-)
Oh why did this type of music/dancing have to go out of fashion?? My nan's always told me about how her and my granddad used to go dancing to this kind of stuff when they were my age back in the 1950s. I wish this still went on today, I can't stand night clubs! nothing but awful music you cant dance to.
My guess is people who have tin ears are in charge now, good melodic & harmonious music is not produced too much in these modern but musically backward times.
Oh, I don't know. I attended a Ceilidh early this year, and was reintroduced to Scottish country dancing once more. It was fun. It still happens in many places.

Great music, aye, but a wee little room to cut the rug. Close it up folks.
The sea of bald heads and white hair on the dance floor speaks volumes when it comes to the future of our culture...
Jimmy Shand has a fuckin Vevo?
St. Peter: Welcome to Heaven. Here is your Harp.
The Devil: Welcome to Hell. Here is your Accordion.
