Taking away some of the inevitable "show-Bizz" glitz and BS so often seen in programmes like 'This is your life!' - its clear to see that on the whole Sir Jimmy Shand was a REAL Gentleman and worthy of his Knighthood! I'm English, but am proud to think that people like Sir Jimmy walked - and indeed STILL walk - the streets of this sceptered isle! RIP Sir Jimmy - and many, many thanks!

I loved seeing this. Jimmy Shand was a true gentleman as well as a wonderful musician. I had the pleasure of meeting him in person a couple of times around 1990 at Letham Village Hall dances. All Scots are so proud of him. Thank you. And he does have a lovely smile!

I grew up listening to my uncles playing jimmy Shand tunes on their button accordions. Thank God I learnt to play as well and have enjoyed this amazing music all my life even though I live in Western Australia. Sadly, I am the only member of the family who learnt this wonderful skill. I still have the Jimmy Shand 78 records that my parents bought me as a child.

Yes, Sir Jimmy was a great man and box player. Waited a long time to see this, so thanks so much for making it available.

I watched the Scottish Hogmanay Show a few hours ago and it was rubbish. The days of Andy Stewart and Jimmy Shand were great. Scotland wake up. Although Andy and Jimmy are no longer with us, there's plenty of Scottish artist still playing and singing traditional songs and brilliant highland dancers. BBC get those types of Hogmanay shows back on tv.
