  • Our Romanian train ride from Timisoara to Bucharest was 11 hours and our longest train ride yet. Come along with us as we show you what a train ride in Romania is like. Travel days are always hectic, but we managed to navigate this long journey without too many hiccups.
    We took a CFR train which is the rail transport company of Romania. The train was a direct train from Timisoara to Bucharest. It was scheduled as a 9 hour and 40 minute journey, but it was delayed a bit and ended up being about an 11 hour train ride.
    We bought our train tickets from the kiosk inside of the Timisoara train station. It was a little more expensive to buy from the kiosk than online, so we recommend buying your tickets online to save some money.
    2 second class tickets cost 230 RON ($48.90), so about $25 a ticket.
    Our train did have a small snack bar near the front. Also, someone would walk by selling snacks and drinks from time to time.
    Traveling with Chloe was really easy on the train. She was allowed out of her travel bag and we even got off the train a few times for a small wander around. She slept most of the journey and made friends with most people sitting near us.
    Now that we're in Bucharest, we're excited to explore the city and try traditional Romanian food.

    The longest train ride I took was in Russia - 50 hours, but true I did have my own bed place there in an open wagon hehehe Although it is exhausting the train rides also have it's own charm and it gives you a chance to meet interesting people around you, you would have never met otherwise :) A pro tip, take a few beers and sleep ;) You don't have to worry about wc on a train ;)

      Wow! 50 hours! And we thought 11 hours was a long time. Yes, you're right. The people sitting around us were all really nice. They loved Chloe. Thanks for the tip. We'll have to try that next time.

    So excited to see what you guys get up to in Romania! We've always wanted to go there. 😍 Also, preferred method is 100% train travel! We always travel by train given the chance.

      Thanks guys! We are really excited to explore Bucharest. So far the food has been great in Romania. When you come to Romania definitely try the sarmale. It is delish! We thought we'd be traveling a lot more on trains while in Europe, but we had too much luggage, so it was kind of difficult. Other than being really long, the train ride was alright.

      @@OneWayTicketAliHolly Oooo! We are always on the hunt for awesome traditional food so we'll definitely have to try that. That sucks about the luggage but that is always something to consider when you have to drag everything to the train station. Although no overweight luggage fees!

    Great video. Note to self: don't ever take a train from Timisoara to Bucharest 🤭 Poor Chloe! But at least she got handfed. Question: Are there more comfortable options for picky, spoiled Americans?

    • @OneWayTicketAliHolly
      @OneWayTicketAliHolly  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you! Yeah, we were really bummed that we couldn't get the insurance coverage extended on the car because having the car made traveling around with Chloe really easy. She did great on the train though. She had her own seat for most of the journey and she just slept. When she was awake, she made friends with the people sitting around us. It made me happy to see how happy people were when they saw her. The most comfortable way would be to take the night train because they have sleeper cars so you can get your own room with a bed. That's what we really wanted to do, but they were sold out.

      All of it. It all makes me motion sick and tired 😫

      @@TravelsInSpace I know what you mean. I found myself trying to look out the window to enjoy the scenery, but I had to stop myself so I didn't get motion sick.
