Lyrics:
Is it too much to ask
I want a comfortable bed that won't hurt my back
Food to fill me up
And warm clothes and all that stuff
Shouldn't I have this
Shouldn't I have this
Shouldn't I have all of this, and
Passionate kisses
Passionate kisses, whoa oh oh
Passionate kisses from you
One of America's best female singer songwriters to date!
Ms.Mary Chapin Carpenter one of the most talented artists out there who was so underrated by the Music Industry! I adore her!
Because country radio refuses to play non male artists. Such low representation
Should be so much better appreciated!
How can you not be happy singing or listening to this song!
I remember being 10 years old and trying to wait until this song played on the radio so I could hit record on a blank tape I had waiting in the cassette ahead of time, I absolutely loved this song, had my first crush at 11 years old as well, this song takes me back 27 years ago to a different time where things seemed so much simpler than today's standards, we didn't have UA-cam, yet we had MTV and CMT and blank tapes waiting in the cassette player waiting to push record as soon as your favorite jam aired on the radio!
I was the exact same way back in the early 90's with my blank cassettes and sitting by the stereo waiting for my favorite songs to play! They really did seem like much simpler times, and I miss them so much. That's one reason why I still love to listen to these older songs, because they take me back to those innocent, simpler times of my early childhood.
That's how we used to do it.
Lol I was Abt 8 when this song came out I think...not sure but I was def in elementary school. My mom had the cassette n her station wagon had a cassette player. I remember blasting this with her n knowing every single word 😂
Listen to her entire 1st CD!
I remember those days recording off radio on blank cassettes good memories. How things have changed...
Remember the countless number of fantastically talented women in country in the 90s?
We need more of those days.
Yes

This is more on board with the cranberries. This isn’t country music to me
Faith Hill, Leann Rimes, Patty Loveless, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Martina McBride, and the greatest one Shania Twain , greetings from Spain , country is worlwide!
@@enriqueruizperez5469 I agree with your list, but check out Suzy Bogguss and Kathy Mattea too.
This lady is a songwriter of the 1st degree. Mary has the gift of making her songs relevant to the ordinary folk who struggle through this world .
This was written by the incomparable Lucinda Williams. If you don’t know her, you’re in for a treat.
@@alangrove2642 Thank you
Recently visited my sister in Nashville, just two hours and three performers at The Bluebird Cafe opened my ears to a whole world of new music. Amazing storytelling in Americana and Country Blues!
Chapin is in the National Songwriters Hall of Fame in Nashville, and RIGHTFULLY SO! One of the BEST singer/songwriters out there, along with Miranda Lambert; I'd 😍 to see these two team up for a song! Magical!
She reminds me of Natalie Merchant.
I love Mary Chapin Carpenter! ❤
Back when country was still COUNTY
I met her after a concert in Charleston way back then. Bit seems like yesterday! She was even more beautiful and sweet than you could imagine!!! A natural beauty and talent.
Long before there was Taylor Swift, there was Mary Chapin Carpenter.
RIGHT ON!!!😎
Taylor is for pop kids music. Marion Chapin Carpenter was for a mature audience when country was real music.
Good point, was Taylor Swift even born when does album came out
@@brucifer1031 Yes, she was. Taylor was born in December 1989, and this song's parent album "Come On Come On" was released in June 1992.
There will never be another. What a wonderful gift she has given us . ❤
Mary Chapin Carpenter's passionate kisses won 2 grammy awards for best female country vocal performance and best country song
"Pens that won't run out of ink..." This shows Lucinda Williams' brilliance. A quirky line nobody else would have thought of, and some would have rejected, but it's oddness makes the song more memorable.

To me this song is one of those songs that manages to cut right to the heart of the human condition. Who among us has not experienced, at least once, the pain of wanting the attention, the love, the passionate kisses of someone we desire so deeply - while that person scarcely notices we exist?
@@marychapincarpenter5281 your not the real Mary Chapin carpenter
Lucinda Williams wrote this song 🎵, not Mary Chapin Carpenter.
@@barryandreev8333 That's what I wrote.
I somehow lost track of U. Then my brother gave me an IPad. I'm
75 in a nursing home. I lov U, ur very beautiful, fabulous voice, great
Songs, smoking band. Keep it up!!!
yea! Here for it!
Adorable Mary Chapin Carpenter in all her glory, so beautiful
Such a warm, powerful voice and a great song.
Indeedy. She had a style all her own. Many ladies of country music can only follow.
For my late father Bernie, on the occasion of his birthday. He absolutely loved this song.
Hello how are you doing?
had forgotten just how much I enjoyed this one, dig that 12 string chime
This would be a good song even without the 12 string but the jangle puts it over the top
Early 1990's was the golden era
Everyone deserves passionate kisses . She was soooo good .
The moment I heard Mary’s voice, I fell in love that was one hell of a crush❤
Mary Chapin Carpenter is a great singer and composer. And great artists are in general very difficult to classify under a style. She rocks, she folks, she countries, she souls. What a great lady with personality. I love her music and specially her interpretation and her "don't care attitude" for the establishment. She is unique. She is out of this world. Long Live MCC.
She didn't compose this
I was just going to say that Sebastiao! I can't classify this under a style. Love this song just as much as I did back then.
Lucinda Williams composed it and does a great job singing it. Nothing to take away from MCC, she sounds great.
She didn't write this song. Lucinda Williams did.
He didn’t say she did lmao
I'm 50, but remember this song all over the radio in my early 20s. What a beautiful voice and beautiful lady!
She’s creates & sings the BEST music!! 🎶🎤💃🏼🕺🏼
In my opinion, "Come on, come on" is one of the best albums ever created.
Mary is one of the most underrated Country artists ever.
Love this song, hear it very frequently at work (walgreens) and I sing along all the time lol
I was dating a girl in the early 90's who loved this song. It's funny how certain songs always take you back to the same place and time. Thanks for posting it!!
Robert E x4
I was dating a girl in 92 and she bought me a tape that I made her take back color me bad all for love what the hell was she saying.
Plus, the times were different. Boy, have things changed.
What happened to the girl @Robert E?
Passionate Kisses by Mary Chapin Carpenter is a musically shining and adventuresome country song
my middle son would sing "assionate kisses" when he was about two. He loved it when it came on the radio. Now in a few months he's getting married. Maybe someday one of his little ones will be singing this from his back seat.
You should play this song at his wedding.
I love you Mary Chapin Carpenter!
I saw her live once. She's so very good.
Hello beautiful how are you doing today 👋🤗👋
great song
It's 2020 and this song still rocks it.
Aged beautifully and a sound the world needs.
And in 2023 as well!
Still in 2023!
@@babpoint Amen! :)
July 2024 and she still rocks!
I hear this and I think of a friend who is no longer with us. He was a radio announcer and one of the most creative people I've ever known. I think Mary Chapin Carpenter was coming to town, and he was helping to promote it. My wife and young daughter Ann Elizabeth had joined me and Jim asked which MCC song she liked best. Just as she said "Passionate Kisses", Jim took her in his arms as if to plant one on her. Ann giggled and we all laughed about it. Jim Devitt was a great guy, gone way too soon.
Hey how are you doing..?
I am a primarily Jazz and R&B, Light-Rock kinda guy... this is one of my favorite songs of All-Time...
"i shouted out into the night, give me what i deserve cuz its my right" that line gets me everytime
Yeah me too!! House with rock and roll band is awesome too☺️☺️
I love this song. It takes me back when me and my sweetheart were just married and when it came on the radio she would turn it up and bounce across the room, grab me and kiss me while dancing me around. It's a beautiful memory of my baby and i thank Mary for this song. Thanks Mary, thank you so much. It means a lot to me. David

Youre a lucky man!
Not gonna lie, you hit me right in the feels, David. You're a lucky man.
Actually I believe it would be more fair to thank Lucinda Williams who wrote the song 🙂
I agree. Country music touches my heart like any other kind of music .✌
To anyone who want's to know what REAL country music is, and what a REAL woman with an amazing voice can do... I give you, Mary.
My 7 yr old girl begs for your music so she can dance. Thank you Mary.
This album was a staple in my mom's tape deck in the 90's. Brings back memories. I'm not a country fan, but this is still one of my favorite songs of all time. It's like chicken soup.
I believe the name of the album this song was on was "Stones In The Road." I could be wrong though.
Same here!! 😂
She's just a beautiful,classy person with a big personality..
She's very down to Earth in person. Almost shy even.

Her voice is just SO beautiful and this song is written and produced so well. Nice to hear all the lyrics, a great melody, and tasteful backing.
Hello how are you doing?
I love her voice and her smile it's awesome
Talk about a step back in time. I remember this song and music video when I was a kid. i haven't heard this in probably 20 years.
she moves my heart in a way that no other singer can
This song is always a go-to pick me up, feel-good song. When I need the touch of a woman in audible form!!
I had forgotten all about this song until I heard it today when I was arriving at Spring Creek Bar-B-Q in Addison, Texas. I couldn't wait to come home and play it on UA-cam and post it on Facebook.
Well done Mary C.C. greetings from Germany
One of my all time favorite feel good songs from the early 90's! It's simply impossible for me to listen to this song and not be in a good mood. Not to mention, it takes me back to much better times. Love this song forever! :)
this woman is an amazing artist
Awesome song. Mary did a wonderful performance with this song. Stunning Voice and Guitar playing. She is one of the best ever. I Love all her music. Beautiful inside and out.🎸🙏🏻💎🧡
Her smile reaches her eyes and looks so genuine. I love how playful she is in this video.
This song has been in my head for two days. I remember it well from when it was released, but I must have heard it on TV in passing for it to be in my head recently. So, I’m here to succumb to the entire song!
This song speaks directly to my heart from God
I grew up on this song and Mary in general. Country music back than was so good and all classics. I still love her and this song.
Three and a half minutes of pop music perfection.
My severely autistic son loves this song, there is only a handful that he truly takes to heart. Thanks Mary!!
There is no such thing as autism, a swift square in the ass is the cure.
Great song
Your son has discerning taste 😊
mary chapín i love this kind of country
She just had a birthday (Feb. 21st.) i honestly forgot about her, but running a lil music page i found her again, she was actually fantastic, Happy Birthday, Mary!
Such great singer so underrated
Ok I work at cvs right and this song plays none stop everyday along with other songs and this one just stuck with me so I had to hear it in its entirety
Just awesome.......
Love that Rickenbacker 12 String. Nothing else sounds like it.
Glad to hear MCC again.

90a country is the best. thanks for posting this great song.
I was listening to this song while I was shopping at CVS this evening. Fabulous song. I love it.
I just heard it on a store playlist too (Home Depot) and I hadn't heard it in years, and even forgot who the artist is. Had to immediately look it up on YT.
Just the best
Hello how are you doing.?
Mary Chapin Carpenter ROCKS!
The bridge of this song is top tier
“ Give me what I deserve “, this phrase makes me cry.
Hey how are you doing..?
Havent heard this in years
One of Lyse Doucet's record choices on Desert Island Discs this week on BBC radio.
Lyse reported from Kyiv for BBC News soon after the radio programme was broadcast.
One of my all time favorites from Mary Chapin carpenter she’s a incredibly talented artist and songs like this from the 90’s have it all over the country music that followed in the 2000’s to present in my opinion
A beautiful lady with a beautiful talent!
Hey how are you doing..?
GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God my parents listened to this all the time when I was kid. Good old times
I wish I could write music like this
WHAT CAN YOU SAY. GREAT VOICE. GREAT SONG FOR HER , KEEP ON ROLLING
This always chokes me up.
This is one of the great hit songs of 1992-93, that kept me going, far past my limits. ty♡
Shouldn't we all have what we need?
Best song ever.
Love you lady.❤
My special song when my 18 year old grandson was a baby. He got my passionate kisses. Loved him then. Love him now. Have to settle for hugs.
She is old now and still looking for it like lots of others
I’m 52 now and never found anyone to love. I’ve missed out on decades of passionate kisses. At this point in my life, I’d be pleased to just have someone to talk with. Can’t even find that.
Sorry about that. But don't feel too alone. My own situation is very much like yours. Except I'm 56 now. A "hopeless romantic" who never found real romance. But I suggest you don't give up!
One day when you arent expecting it she will suddenly appear and the both of you will just know.
Andy, I suggest you also keep in mind what Reason said. Just be very careful of fakes who take advantage of lonely people and who pretend to be the type you want, only to try to learn personal information about you to then exploit you. This apparently happened to me from a youtube comments string just in the last week. Based on the person going from much complimentary enthusiasm about getting to know me, complimenting herself, detailing hardships similar to mine that got my sympathy, sending photos and asking for mine etc., then her stopping replying, and based on opinion of a longtime trusted male friend. Meeting potential relationship partners in this pandemic area may be extra hard but it won't always be like this. Some others are also hoping for someone like you.
Oh yes that's for sure,,
Hello how are you doing..?
Qué agradable es volver a escuchar las hermosas y elaboradas melodías de la genial Mary Chapín Carpenter, una de las mejoras del panorama musical norteamericano.
La sexagenaria cantante conserva intacta su calidad vocal y su inspiración.
Without a doubt my favorite song from her god bless
I used to do the Carlton dance to this song back in the 1990s when it was in heavy rotation. This is in my top five songs all time.
+MICHAEL SOWELL Rosanne Cash - Seven Year Ache
+Tony Montana Yes that is a great song by Johnny's Daughter. Goes back to about 1979 or sometime around then.
MICHAEL SOWELL LMFAO we're all dorks from time to time
Passionate kisses always got me in trouble
LMFAO
MCC - one of the best things about the '90s.
This song was always inspiring in my teenaged years.
The absolute best of the best
This song was SO overplayed back then. I heard it so often it began to drive me crazy. For decades now I've made fun of it countless ways in my head. Truly a maddening song.

Love this song! She is also from the Garden State! PS: We were born in the same year too! She is amazing!
With this and "Shut up and Kiss Me", Chapin's got two of the best kissing songs ever!
angel olson has good one called "Shut up Kiss me"
My dad really liked her when I was growing up and we listened to both of those songs all the time lol.
The opening notes of this song heralded a new beginning for me. An ending relationship, while a new one was beginning. But I was deluded about the power of a kiss. The ex-lover I was leaving was, as it turns out, irreplaceable. The kisses that I substituted never had the same kind of magic. I have never loved properly ever since then. "Shouldn't I have all of this?" Evidently not. C'est la vie. Still love the song, and MCC's album 'Come On Come On' is a bittersweet reminder.
Evidently, yes, actually, by the sound of things, but like a lot of us - myself included too many times - you threw it away because you were too busy looking elsewhere for "all of this" when you already had it . .
