  • Astrophotography takes a lot of effort and time for us Amateur Astronomers to collect the data we need to stack and process Deep Sky images, whilst light pollution and other invading sources are a constant threat to our hobby.
    Here I find a solution which might help!! KEEP WATCHING & LET'S DO THIS!!!
    EXTRA BONUS!! Another upgrade for all our Newtonian fans out there with REAL Astro-imaging content, due to the video being quite long!!! So make sure everyone get the POP CORN READY!!!

    There will be many more video content like this which will give practical useful info to help newcomers and experienced Astrophotographers in the astro community to undertake Astro practical tuning, to let viewers get see the Astro equipment I review in detail.
    So please everyone show your support to MP ASTRO and subscribe onto my channel, if you want to see real authentic reviews and modifications that do work and have been tested out by myself.

      Thank you for your support to this channel. I might be an under dog in the UA-cam Astro world, but at least I put out good video content that IS REAL astro stuff. Now cut's to the imaging session, I always make sure my viewers deserve the TRUTH!!!

    Martin, amazing shots for 2 minute subs. I don't have a newtonian however but I do have a Meade LX10 with an F6.3 reducer. I was wondering, can you get a reducer to fit a StarTravel 120 F5? If so, is it worth it? Also, would it cause any optical issues given it's already a short FL refractor?

    • @MPAstro
      @MPAstro  Рік тому +2

      Thanks for watching Mark, I would suggest to avoid the 0.5x reducer, I've tested it on my ST80 and the even though the speed was lightening fast, (at F2.5 ratio) and captured Orion Nebula in full cloud formation including the running man nebula within 20 seconds exposure time, however the image quality was extremely poor and not very sharp at all, plus I got vignetting using the Canon 600D. What I would suggest is to go for this safest option and will work for any F5 Refractor mate, this will speed up your ST120 F5 down to F4. Here is the link for this focal reducer: www.firstlightoptics.com/reducersflatteners/stellamira-2-inch-0-8x-reducer-field-flattener-with-m42-adapter.html

    Great video! I tought you are gonna do the capture with that poor EQ5 at the beginning lol.
    BTW, my EQ5 still works like a charm 3 years after supertuning it using your videos. The stepper motor died recently but new one is on the way. Cheers!

      I could have done with EQ-5 mount, but it is too much for the mount to handle that set-up!! 17.5kg Quattro is no joke to handle around!! I'm glad the supertune has worked out for you, I would say supertuning the EQ-5 is really the hardest one and to tweak to get the most perfomance out of it. The mount is not best assembled by Skywatcher, but if the super tune is done right it can certainly track unguided for 10 mins no problems, and the better bearings help to increase it's load capacity upto 10Kg. Very hard mount to supertune, and some viewers have not been successful in achieving the supertune!!

      Much appreciated Vic!! there is a Skywatcher variant of a coma corrector which does have 0.95x focal reduction, it's a cheaper alternative!! I totally agree that this hobby is so damn expensive!!

    Hi mate. Been using my modest RVO 60ed 360mm and AZGTi and very happy with it. Got some ace pics with this set up. However been considering spending a few quid on next thing. What would you recommend? My main concern is getting lumbered with a dud mount..

      Thanks Captain Cook for watching!! Awesome scope that RVO 60ED, so glad I've bought it. To be honest if your getting awesome images, stick to your set-up, and focus more on collecting that data. I'm guessing you already got the RVO mini guidescope set-up, then the next level is to upgrade the RVO 60 ED with 0.8x FF/FR from William Optics, this FF/FR will fit perfectly and you have a faster scope at F4.8, Here is the video I've made on it: ua-cam.com/video/Kl6cV1v3HRY/v-deo.html

    The before image of the Pleiades was much better than the one with the Nexus, but the problem is not with the coma corrector, but either your camera settings or post processing-- it looks like you've pushed the black levels too far and are clipping the data, and your stars look like they are blown out by being over-stretched.

    If you would like feedback, the intro is too long by about 15 seconds in my opinion. We don't come here for the photos of your gear and grandiose music themes. Just a suggestion. 🙂

      I totally agree, you cannot condense this subject into a small video, End of the day whatever video content you make, you can do whatever you want on your channel, there is no rules, you cannot satisfy everyone and this guy's channel just show's off his Model Railway set-up, and he offers no advice to his viewers, speaks volumes really!! @AstronomyABC, I've just subbed to your channel mate!!
