It takes tremendous strength to carve out a place where there was none before, or to shift as a result of loss. The change of identity is powerful. I spent most of my life assimilating/adapting to roles and environments that were antithetical to my personal values, for the paycheck and social status. I liked the actual work (making clothes) and formed some nice working relationships and friends. But the overall culture of the fashion industry- especially the business end, is exploitative, exclusionary and wasteful. Thank you for laying out the issues with some hope. Clearly it helped me to reflect on my experience with fresh views.
