Quick tip for combat: when you scanned that corruptor, it showed you that the main body is weak to fire, but those yellow glowing parts showed a kind of broken shield icon, which means weak to tear (that part can be removed). This means that you can damage the body with fire, but you should ideally hit the tearable part with normal arrows, as fire won’t do anything fancy against it. Should help you the next time you fight a corruptor :)
You’ll figure it out as you get farther into the game and fight different kinds of machines! But a good starter tip is, body and separate parts on a machine are weak to different types of ammo. Good luck!
Hey Marissa, the reason she wasn't moving very fast was because you had been hit with corruption. once it hits you it takes a few moments to dissipate, when you are under the influence of it it shows an icon next to our health bar. Hope this helps.

It's great that you're already really invested in this world, it just keeps getting more interesting. Forbidden West is absolutely blowing my mind right now so it's pretty nice to just relax with this video and rest my brain for a while lol. Really looking forward to the entire journey with you :)

Well, someone awkwardly kinda offers the chance....
Fire arrows are best for shooting blaze canisters, or flesh. For general machine fighting, regular arrows are better since they TEAR off armor and do a little more damage.
Another great stream. I'm glad you explore all the conversation options. A lot of streamers only check out one or two or skip most of the conversation bits, but it really adds a lot of nuance to each of the characters and overall story. I will definitely be following your continuation of this story and hopefully you will also be doing the DLC : Frozen Wilds and the sequel Horizon II: Forbidden West in the future.

There is a s***ton of background story you miss, if you skip conversations, datapoints and sound files. Lots of lore is explained while reading, talking and viewing video files.

Just some tips for you: Not every machine is weak to fire damage. It's good to scan them and find out their weaknesses. Also, your regular arrows do better tear damage to machine parts than fire arrows do, which do zero tear damage. Tear damage is necessary for breaking off parts, like their weapons or armor platings which can expose weak points on them for greater damage.
Glad you got the sun queen dialogue with the priest, a lot of people seem to miss it. It’s also possible to visit Rost’s grave at his old house - Aloy can talk to him about what she has been doing, with certain quests unlocking new dialogue so you can keep returning throughout the game to tell him about Aloy’s adventures.
Yes, visit Rost's grave from time to time. It is sad but also encouraging.
A huge tip for this game: if you jump and aim, you'll slow down time.

15:56 - I found this increasingly interesting as the game went on. Sun worshipers are quite common in numerous cultures around the world. It takes some educated leaps to get to the final conclusion, but it makes perfect sense in the world of HZD.

26:50 - This is the first time Aloy gives one of her "faster" lines in your playthrough. I've tested this. The whole thing is scripted, so you can walk the whole way and still win. 😉
56:32 - If you visit Rost's grave, Aloy will give him a summary of what she's been doing since he died.

First rule of Horizon: Zero Dawn, always pick the aggressive option in the flashpoints when someone is an asshole to Aloy.
Yup, only sociopaths dedicate their prayer lantern to anyone other than Rost.
The game's story really opened up after this. I wasn't too keen on playing a character that was training all her life as an outcast just to ask a question.
Missed the power cell in All Mother's Temple. Just got to get used to using the focus more often to show you the hidden things.
Your first reaction popped on my recommendations yesterday & I watched the first three parts straight after one another.
I'm currently about half way through HZD, in my third attempt at the game.
I absolutely loved the game the previous two times but at some point got distracted by a shiny new game that I thought I'd "just play a couple of hours & see what it's like" .
This time I will definitely finish HZD because the shiny new game that I'm dying to play Is HZD Forbidden West & I can't risk even loading that up because there're bound to be spoilers to the story of the first game.
Having got further than I'd managed before the story is really developing & I can't wait to watch you see it unfold.
I just love how different the world is! It’s so exciting to learn about!

Aloy is so rude to Teersa. Even though without her kindness no one would probably be willing to help her find answers. It’s funny that even though Teersa isn’t as “matter of fact” as Aloy. She still proves to be quite competent and helps Aloy up when she’s at her lowest. Even despite her teen angst.

Just to let you know, after you complete the game, do not miss its DLC - The frozen wilds. You get a new region, a new tribe and new machines. In my opinion, the DLC is better than the base game and the base game is amazing. That shows how good the DLC is.

Frozen Wilds was great. I love the Banuk; they are still my favorite tribe even after Forbidden West. Not to mention my favorite character is a Banuk who I won't name as she hasn't met them yet.

The Sun Queen HZD is one of the best open world action adventure RPG's you will ever play, throughout the game you will find power cells that go to something, BE SURE to collect all five of you do you'll unlock a very special type of armor. When you put it on you will see a blue bar covering your health bar that blue bar is a shield that not only protects your health bar but also protects you from taking too much damage, though keep an eye on it if the shield is depleted and you take damage your health bar will take the damage. Best to wait for the shield to regenerate before you make a move this armor is literally the best armor in the game when you reach the last level you won't last long without it so be sure to get it before then

Little tip for you while fighting human opponents … two to three fire arrows lights them on fire making them burn to death. Headshots takes just 1 regular arrow. 😉
When picking up a machine gun … to hit anything, you have to aim it. Not go by the tracers. Hard to see the reticule in the snowy setting of the proving though. 😉
Ohhh … and while aiming your bow … R3 slows down time.
Enjoying your playthrough though. Exciting seing someone experiencing the world of Horizon for the first time.
EDIT:
Element arrows (fire, frost, shock, corruption) does only minimal damage. Their purpose is to put the machine/enemy in an elemental stage, visualised with the icon filling up the white outline above your target. Once full the target is now left in that stage, while timer runs down. During that period, no additional element arrow does other harm besides the minimal basic damage.
Once icon is full, you switch to regular arrows for damage, or tear arrows to get rid of modules and/or armor.

Aloy has been out long enough for them to take the stitches out of her slit throat. So we're looking at a minimum 7-10 days. And I give that as a conservative estimate because the asshole who cut her, only hit the side and didn't transect her trachea.

Also, I know this is vid 4 of 6 and you may know by now, but it's bothering me (cos it would help sooo much!!) that you're not using the zoom/focus when shooting the bow. It slows time a little and allows for more accuracy.

my point is that the actual genetic sequences are rarely completely identical.
there is often a lot of minor variation even in the species.
we got about 50% identical sequences between us and our parents.
between us and chimps, we are talking about having 98% identical proteins, even when the sequences can be slightly different, especially at the non protein coding locations.
so its important to understand what kind of comparison we are using.
