I'm 30 this year and I only started reading audiobooks about 6mths ago and let me tell you: life changing. I thought I'd struggle, but I read anywhere 1.5-2x speed (which is more akin to my print read speed) and can do it while I do housework, food prep, the arty side of bujoing etc. Absolutely blew up how much I could consume, and my mental health is that much happier for it -- and my house is cleaner, ew.
I would love if you did more videos like these or like the fortnightly journal with me you did in January. I really enjoyed them and it really helped me in my own journals!
I don't think that you need to change the categories at all for graphic novels. In my opinion, each category has something that can include the drawing element. Logic: do the drawings make sense; are the people anatomically accurate? Characters: does each character have a distinct style that makes sense with their personality; how does the author handle background/mob characters? Etc.

for the stars, i use the hobonichi stencil in green in my a6 reading journal mostly to keep things uniform!

I have learned more from watching you than any other channel. As for your frustration with the star ratings, have you looked into an ink stamp? Would that fit?
Stamping and I have an…interesting relationship 😝 I know it’s the kind of thing that would get better with practice, but I’ve had definite difficulties with it in the past 😂 that being said, would be cool to have one if it fit the spacing perfectly!
I've also heard mixed things about Shadow and Bone, so instead I read the Six of Crows duology, and it easily became one of my favorite fantasy books! So I'd definitely recommend those over the original trilogy!

hi!! avid manga reader here. i normally use a system similar to cawpile, where i rate mangas based on these categories: writing (plot wise), characters (individually and character dynamics), visuals (if i like the art style or not, character design, etc), enjoyment (did i like the manga or not). hopefully you'll be able to tweak around this system for your graphic novel needs!

Not sure if you have Daiso in NZ, but I found a little “name” letter stamp there that also has symbols. It has star stamp which is perfect size to fit between the dot grid spaces. Bonus points that you can use tombows to colour them instead of having to use an ink pad.

I used my Phomemo printer to make my star stickers
Oops a Daisy have some star stickers but I think they are gold stars. They are the same size as the days and dates one they sent you
I googled "5mm star stickers" and it brought up some Etsy shops that had 4mm or 5mm stars.
Yes I got some on Etsy and they look great and were very cheap
How would you go about scoring autobiographies and memoirs? I feel weird scoring characters because these are real people and things that happened in real life.
Those ones would use my non-fiction criteria 😊 though I’ve specifically written my non-fiction system for self help and personal development style books as those are the non-fiction books I read 😝
shadow and bone... I gave the series as a whole 3.5, but I do really think you should read it, even if only as context for Six of Crows(I read SoC BEFORE S&B, but my reread after S&B was very satisfying) The SoC duology is my favorite set of books like, ever. nothing compares to SoC in my mind. please read it!

Hi Jess Do you know when the 1st subscription box preview is and when they get sent? My first-time getting one. Hoping there's an A5 in it. New to journaling but don't have a journal yet. Everytime i go to A&O site they're all sold out😢
You could always print out the stars
The only issue I have with that is that once printed and cut, they’ll be quite fiddly to stick in 😝 prolly could draw them pretty okay-ish-ly in that time 🤔 but certainly a good idea 💜
If you print them on sticker paper you could probably cut them into little strips quite easily and stick them in

So I have a big question. When it comes to buying the next years journal(s) when should you.
Interesting question! I like to keep more of a "stock" of notebooks, so I have them on hand ready to go when I need them. I also don't mind using older styles for my notebooks though. Guess it's a balance of release dates vs shipping vs when you like to start your set ups 🤔

Oops a daisy have a star washi built with reviews in maind. It fits to a 5 mm dot grid
How easy is it to colour over? Or is it coloured already? 😝 interesting possibility though! I’ve found I’ve had to trim down the sides of my other Oops a Daisy washis so they fit in the 5 mm grid 🤔
