With regard to the Alistair method you could just add 1 extra box for the week number to indicate which week it was done.

    Weekly Basics 4 me are:
    1. Horizontal Calendar - for some time boxing, time documentation, appointments
    2. „Habit Tracker“ - 20 good suggestions for my perfect day as a daily reminder
    3. Daily To Do List + Weekly To Do List (tasks with no specific date attached)
    4. Meal documentation - B / L / D, just be be aware of what I ate
    5. Word of the Day
    6. Daily Check-in / Evening Check-out - few lines of journaling
    7. Weekly reflection on alignment with my life philosophy and personal values
    8. Weekly reflection on my personal project progress (or not-progress)
Won‘t miss any of it - love it, really. :)

Glad it was useful! I don’t necessarily do this on paper every single time, but I thought it was easier to see me write the thoughts out and have them come to a layout rather than just talk through it 💪

For the Alastair method, you could list the 7 days for the week, but instead of making a dot to show the day something happened in the week, you could write a 1 or 2 to show which day of which week it happened, or split the box in half and have each half of the box represent week 1 or week 2. That way you won't need to draw up a full 2 weeks, while still keeping things functional.

  • @suzisaintjames

Here's how to make the Alistair method work on a fortnight with out taking up so much space... Use a Dutch door for week one, then flip for week two. The actions stay stationary.
You'd have 7 columns on the Dutch door and two columns for the action. First column would be status symbol, in progress = "/", and "x" = completed. Column 2 would be action description.
You want the action status with the a tion description so whether you are looking at week one or two you know the action's status.
I believe this Dutch door will also give you space for decoration. 💖🌞🌵😷

I love the way your mind works! This level of planning requires more patience than I have, but I love watching you do it! Not sure what that says about me!!! Also love the aesthetic- it’s not just the decorative elements, every page is just so pleasing to the eye!

Thanks Shanya! 😄 I will say, this level of detail isn’t necessarily done every single time, or at least isn’t done on paper. I’ll think through a lot of it in my head, but it’s easier to show people if I write it out 😛💜

This idea likely wouldn't fit your aesthetic but I do meal planning on tiny sticky notes (i take the smallest ones i could find at office works and then cut them into 6 skinny ones). Then i write all the meals I've planned and I can move them around on my weekly spread (which is days horizontal because I have SO many things to remember to do each day) and it's also a good record of when we actually are each thing.
I need this because I need to know what we're having for dinner each day, as well as actually plan groceries for the start of the week.
I'm guessing it would be harder to find aesthetically pleasing post-it colours but fwiw it's what I do (i got the idea from Rachelle in Theory)

As someone who has quit everything to start over, your channel gives me inspiration and hope that with patience and planning, everything will be back on track. I just have to break my goal into little actions and in time I will figure out who I wanna be! I'm someone who is really scared of making mistakes and this type of videos really help me. There is nothing wrong in trying what thinks will help you, and after a couple weeks, check again and do the changes needed. What worked last week might not work now, and that's okay😄
This youtube account is something I created after whaching you for a couple months and I plan to do something fun with it, even if there's a voice in my head saying that I'm not good enough! So thank you for that!

For years, my meal plan is boxes for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks. Then we just go with what we feel like on any given day. Also, there is a Pantry meals box...these are substitutes with things that are always on hand(a package of spaghetti and a jar of sauce, tuna for sandwiches etc.), if we just don't want any of it or have no time. I'm learning so much from you on how to use a Bujo. I love it! Thank you.

I used to try to meal plan to control grocery finances. That died a fairly quick death because my husband would come home and flat out say I’m not eating that tonight. So we’d end up back at the grocery store or ordering in. And yes, the ultimate ending was I put him in charge of the meals and the cooking. That was actually fine by me because I despise cooking.

    • @suzisaintjames
      @suzisaintjames 27 днів тому

@@mararabb1, my stepsister had that problem with her husband, until the time she made a roast and he pull "I'm not eating that because that's not how my mother makes it!" So she grabbed the platter and all... Walked over to the kitchen door and chucked the whole thing out into the yard and said "FINE, go eat at your mom's!" And took a long, slow walk around the block. When she returned the kitchen was cleaned and she never had to throw the dinner out the kitchen door again. But I like your solution better.

I like to adapt things as to what energy and free time I have, but two things I like to keep consistent are a monthly setup to see what I have each month, and the habit tracker. This was really interesting to watch you actually assessing how you used the journal through the previous period and “fixing” things that you wanted to change.. it may be obvious to bujo veterans but as a noob I hadn’t actually thought of doing that and I like it!
Quick question, I know that you aren’t planning weekly anymore, but I had a bit of a “panic” the other day. (Way too strong a word for it but hopefully you get what I mean!) I currently have a couple of monthly pages followed by the weekly set up.. but January ends in the middle of a week.. as do most months I am sure! How does one usually split them? Do you include in the month the week starts in, before the February page, so that the start of feb is missing from February, the other way round so the end of jan is missing from jan or do most people literally draw two separate weeks in each month and only use part of it?? (I REALLY don’t want to do that!)
I am also loving that size journal and wishing I had started with one of those! The fomo is real! Ha!

    • @JashiiCorrin
      @JashiiCorrin  4 місяці тому +2

Totally understand the panic! 😝 It’s up to you how you want to do it but, some of the common ways to deal with a mid-week finish/start are:
      - Put the weekly with the month that has the most days of the week (e.g. 4 days of the week are in Feb, so Feb gets the weekly)
      - Put the weekly with the month that has the first day of the week (e.g. Sun/Mon of that week are in Jan, so Jan gets the weekly)
      - Put the weekly with the month that has the last day of the week (e.g. Sat/Sun of that week are in Feb, so Feb gets the weekly)
      - Split the week and have two separate setups in their own months (e.g. a 3 day “weekly” in Jan, a 4 day “weekly” in Feb)
      - Combine the extra days with the prior/next week (e.g. a 10 day “weekly” for Jan, an 11 day “weekly” for Feb)
At different points I’ve done different things, but I mostly default to whichever month has the most days of the week gets the weekly, OR making two mini weeklies 😊 Hope that helps!

coming back to actually answer the question you posed, my weeklies have been more or less the same for a few years now because I found what works for me and decided to stick to it. I have a box for each day where I record the things I did that day, a weekly task list, a notes section in case I want to expand on anything I put in my daily boxes, and a spot for tarot. the past 2 years the tarot spot has been just pulling a card to act as a focus at the beginning of each week, but this year I've added a reflection spot too so I can see if I actually focused on what the card told me to focus on that week.
