I wouldn't have survived for even 24 hours in that hell! I have watched hundreds of documentaries and still cannot fully wrap my head around the fact, that this actually happened - not so long ago! Humans truly can be monsters. May the survivors find peace and comfort!

For the survivors, there really is no escape from the camps. The experience follows them and dominates their entire lives. And to think there are so many who deny that their ordeal was true, outrageously claiming them to be liars. This is the lowest one can get.

Most of these guys are dead or were expelled from the US in
The 90s. To actually to have been
A camp laborer or Ukrainian guard
Would make the person 100+ at
This time. The story on these guys
      Broke when Reagan was president
And his AG ed Meise wanted to
      Vacate the charges. This didn't
Happen because the UN and the
      Hague got involved. They were
      Victims also but they cooperated
and their fate was sealed. Helped
Murder six million innocent people. This had to be done no
      Matter the circumstances of their
Imprisonment by the fascist leaders of Germany. And when

When I first heard of the existence of the Sonderkommando, my first human reaction was "how could these people betray their own in such a way." My question was answered as soon as I tried to put myself into their position after hearing all of the stories and I was ashamed of even thinking such a thing.

    • @Mc.Garnagle
      @Mc.Garnagle 2 роки тому +12

No shame over a gut reaction. I think without the proper context it would even be a reasonable one. But you set aside time and energy to learning more and reached a different conclusion. I find that very admirable. It's difficult to conceive being forced into a life or death situation. To be held captive by tormenters who deny you any moral choices. I'd like to think I would choose death but the urge to survive can diminish the best of us.

You probably don’t need to hear this, at this point…but, they never had a choice. The sonderkommando’s, as astonishingly horrific as their “jobs” were…., weren’t as bad as the capo’s (in the grand scheme of things). The fact of the matter is that, when you’re reduced to an animal, yet have somehow hung on to the will to live….there’s no exceptions as to what you’ll do to stay alive. They did what they had to, to survive. The endurance, and resilience of the Jewish people, and how they’ve been able to bounce back from this to create and develop the state of Israel, is the story of the millennium. It’s the only story of it’s kind in documented human history.
