    Thanks for this video you saved the day yet again.My electric windows broke at 8pm on a rainy English night and a clean up of the switch sorted it :-) I had the door card off and was about to remove the motor then remembered this video

    Thank you for great videos! I think the reason for the window going all way down and you have to stop it is because you put back the transparent plastic part the opposite way. They are not symmetrical, but the difference is hard to see. The two edges that pushes on the metal parts are not aligned.

    A thousand thank-you's! My 2007 Saab 9-5 had a similar issue with the driver's side front door where the window would go down, but not up. The other three windows worked fine. After watching your video and analyzing the situation, I was able to take the switch-pad out and clean the contact for the driver's-side front window switch. Everything works perfect now! If I can do this, then anyone can do this. I am not mechanically or engineering inclined at all, but this saved me tons of time, money and frustration! But most of all, it gave me confidence and satisfaction to know that I could fix this problem myself and not waste hundreds of dollars at a dealer or repair garage. Thank you!

    My D side window was stuck down all day yesterday until I saw this video. It's 4:50am here and I just pulled the switched and fixed the problem. Great video and many thanks.

    This video just helped me with my driver car window that got stuck in the down position. I was moments away from taking off the door panel and possibly replacing the motor. Followed these steps and my drivers window AND my rear passenger window (which sometimes didn't go down all the way) now go down and up with no problem. That's why I'm a subscriber to this channel. Have received so much helpful advice. THANKS!

    Had the same problem (rear right window only), but did not go as far as unmounting all the little contacts. I just removed all the black caps, cleaned around the white plastic casing and shot some WD-40 inside through the clear plastic controls and put everything back toghether and it worked! Thanks so much for putting that up. If you don't hear the motor working to lift the window, it is most likely a swich problem, which it was.

    Great video, as always. Love the Haynes reference. I had a window switch that was sticky...wouldn't snap back to center like it should. Like you, I disassembled the switch and found there was sticky mass all around the black buttons. I'd guess Coke or Pepsi spilled on the switch. I cleaned it up, sprayed some electrical cleaner around the clear pieces (didn't go that far with my disassembly!). Works fine.

    What can I say? T H A N K Y O U !!!!!! It was really nice to found this and when I found with this problem (the window didn`t raise, so it was open) in this same morning I have just solved!!! Just to add, I replaced the white small pieces of plastic, which one was broken, for one of the two of the ON/OFF button ;))
    BTW, tell me if you come to Costa del Sol, you have a cold free beer waiting for you!!

    Hi, thanks for this nice video. My Saab 9-5 Estate from 2007 with 460.000km on the counter had the same problem but it happened only on the driver window that is most often used. The window still went down, but did not want to get up again, so it was only this contact that was failing. Cleaning that one out and all others that still worked fine but that showed black marks - and everything was fine again.

    Hi,
    I took the switches of the 9-3OG apart last week to remove some mess between them.
    They look pretty similar form the inside, except the transparent plastic is integrated in the switch.
    When reassembling I noticed there were multiple types of the little metal/brass plates which are loose inside and switch.
    They sure fit everywhere, but when placed wrong made a slightly bigger or smaller stroke. Also the one of the lock switch is different from the window switches. It might cause your problem.
    The 9-3OG switches can be taken apart without damage, it's also easy the immediately change the light bulb, if it is disassembled.
    Cheers.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 років тому

      So those little metal connector things needed to be in the right position on the 9-3? That does make sense, however I could barely see any difference in the things on the 9-5. Hmm...

    • @MrTarantula12
      @MrTarantula12 8 років тому

      On the 9-3 there metal tabs have a bottom (or rather) 'bump' on them that associate to the auto down feature. It means you have to be careful to get them back in the right position. Maybe the 9-5 tabs have a similar small difference.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 років тому

      I'll ask around a bit and maybe take the switches apart again. Many thanks for your input!

    The transparent plastic switch has two little pins (one in front and the on the back) one of the is slightly bent inwards and the other one is straight. The bent one goes in front and it pushes a tiny switch located between the two main switches. It's made of white plastic and you won't notice it. Look between the front metal parts. I just disassembled mine for the same problem and inspected every single corner of this tiny thing.

    Wow I remember we use to replace the switch pack all the time on customer cars but when it came to ours we would pull them apart and clean them, I was told that it was only a problem in car where people would eat and drink inside the car, cause in Sweden they don't believe in eating in there cars that's why Saab did not put cup holders in there vehicle until GM forced them to so they put the worst in dash cup holder possible lol I love my quirky Saab.

    • @TrionicSeven
      @TrionicSeven  8 років тому +2

      Ah, I can definitely see liquid damage as being a common problem with the switches. And I agree, I love the big cupholders on US cars. However, the saab cupholder is so spacey and I love it ;)

    Is there a trick to re-assembling the on/off switch? I placed a single metal spring in the outer channel, but I can only get the switch to mount perpendicular to the switch pack. This means the on/off switch is always in the middle in its default state. When I depress the switch to the on side, it will click but springs back to the middle. I can't rotate it to the off side as the metal spring is already bottomed out. Also, I believe the automatic up/down is controlled by another switch in between the metal springs for the front windows. You'll notice a spring loaded plastic piece between the springs on the front switches that isn't on the rear switches. If this isn't moving up and down freely, then it's likely jammed with gunk/corrosion and causing your windows to default to auto up/down. You can try cleaning out that area to resolve the issue.

    Currently none of my windows work but when I hit the switches I can hear power or electricity happening in each corresponding door. Both fuses are good . Also having other electrical issues with wipers, cigarette lighters, and daytime running lights. And all these problems started the same day I could no longer use the windows

    Tjena du råkar inte ha trasiga motorer till sidospeglarna? Köpte en 00as aero i tisdags nämligen och visade sig när jag skulle justera speglarna att dom endast gick att vrida innåt.. Hade varit trevligt med en video om det.
    Mycket nöjd med köpet hitils annars!

      Hej! Kul att du gillar innehållet! Behöver inte nödvändigtvis vara motorerna, kan vara så enkelt som att det är fel i matningen eller något. Har dock ingen koll på detta fel, men kolla WIS efter diagnoshjälp! :)

    check out my saab channel too, i haven't made a video of this but I do it all the time, always comes down to junked contacts. I bet you simply switched the contacts since they only go one way but they are slightly different between the front auto down "comfort" option & the non comfort rears...easy to do as i have done the same in the 9-3s...i did a complete removal to reinstallation video on a 9-3 & had to completely disassemble, clean & reassemble but alas I lost it before i could upload it....
