I've loved Star Trek my whole life, before Kurtzman took over. Star Trek was set hundreds of years in the future and depicted a future where all of our current day bullshit about race and diversity had been long resolved, so yes, it was normal to have a diverse cast. No one questioned it. I certainly didn't, and the writers didn't make a big deal about it. The show wasn't ABOUT diversity. Diversity was a long-resolved thing. There was no need to talk about it, so when they bang on about it in Discovery etc, it makes no sense. Its only become ABOUT diversity in the last 5 or so years. Its like Star Fleet has suddenly regressed to 2016 or something. And I love all these actors, but they didn't write the show, they had nothing to do with the creation of the show. They read what lines they were given. For them to now come out and pretend they were some virtuous crusaders against race etc is disappointing. I'd rather not know, and just go and watch the show, that was ABOUT other interesting issues, not current day DEI nonsense.
