Love this movie! I saw this in theaters with my brother and we enjoyed the hell out of it! I liked the exposition and the mythology of Godzilla, like who he is, what he is, where he came from, why he's here, what he wants, and how long he's been living on Earth.

I’m sure someone might have explained this already, but as someone who is a huge fan of the Godzilla franchise and owns every single film that has ever been released, I can tell you that Godzilla and other certain Titans (Mothra, etc) are protectors of earth and the balance of nature. So when something arrives to harm that balance, they come to humanity’s aid. Godzilla is always aware of when he is needed. As is Kong. Godzilla has a bit of an ego though. As you’ll see when you continue the films. 😝

Thanks for what? Giving us the most bland and uninteresting Characters ever and censoring all the good parts? No Thanks. Yes the movie looks good, but a good looking movie isnt automatically a good movie. It could have been a movie like Godzilla minus one, where we care about the Characters. Likeable Characters and tragic moments. Instead we got an movie where nothing special really happenend. Yeah wow Godzilla uses his atomic breath. We see this in every Godzilla movie. There is nothing special about it. Rogue One also had the similar problems. The most boring and dry Characters and only the finale was good.
The TV series takes place a year after the events of this movie but there are things in it that won't make sense unless you've seen all of the movies that are out so far first. Most, if not all, of your questions are answered in the other movies and the series. Like, where the MUTOs come from, where Godzilla comes from and those questions.

Here are some fun details you missed about the 2014 Godzilla movie. The term muto AKA massive unidentified terrestrial organism is just a random term to classify unidentified species but all of the muto species official classification are Titans who were the gods before the gods. In fact the mutos in this movie are classified as muto Titans as a official name. The muto we're not created from the 1954 bombing testing that was actually the government trying to kill Godzilla. The muto came from seeds implanted in a creature named dagon who is the same species as Godzilla but older. Dagon was killed fighting the muto prime and his body ended up in the Philippines. The original 1953 Gojira movie was more of a disaster movie about nuclear fallout that's also why Godzilla isn't in much of this movie in the audience is falling in American around who follows Godzilla just like the original 1954 Godzilla movie. Which was the 1953 movie stuck with new footage a Raymond Burr. Also in the original touhou concept of Godzilla was created from the nuclear testing but the legendary Godzilla existed long before.

Huge Godzilla fan I highly recommend reacting to the original 1954 film along with several other of the Japanese ones most are pretty good some stinkers here and there, I’ve always enjoyed the monsterverse stuff I try not to compare it to the Japanese ones both great in their own categories
Love watching people react to Godzilla, been such a fan since 98 but the 2014+ ones are phenomenal! I won't repeat all the story/lore stuff im sure many people have mentioned already but i will say I really do hope you guys check out the whole series (Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla Vs. With this movie coming out three years after the Japan earthquake in 2011, I'm thinking this plot point of the nuclear power plant disaster is a direct comparison to Fukushima Daichi. They're also bringing back the original radiation problem in Godzilla movies, only this time, the radiation didn't CREATE Godzilla, it awoke and fed the MUTOs. Edit: The female MUTO is bigger, yes, but she doesn't have wings. She's too heavy to fly. And just like insects, the female lays eggs and then the male fertilizes them. Then the female makes a nest, or puts them in a safe place under something, then the wait begins for them to hatch. But, unlike insects, the male MUTO stays with his girl and defends her from enemies.
