Why don't you guys show how they perform in action? Talking about stats and stuff might help with comparing numbers, but what I would love to see is how good they perform underwater in the dark, that would help alot on deciding.
Very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do this :)
I have the Mares EOS 10 RZ, use it in Australia. It does have a battery indicator built in when getting low it flashes 3 times every minute and the burn time on the low setting extends to 255 minutes. I've found it to be a good all rounder, my 2 cents worth.
Regarding "not compromising the seal" of the Mares, if the outer cap floods the torch is dead. The inner cap has no o-rings and there's the exposed usb port that is not sealed.
I would rate external charging as a plus so you can have a second battery charging without having to lose access to the torch
Testing for comparison should have simulated drops, how bright it is, how long the battery works for, etc
Can you post your favorite dive torch? Small, medium, & large.
Also I've got the scuba pro hydros bcd & I'd love to make a twin tank set up for it. The back plate looks like it should be able to but I've been told it can't. Can you see if it's possible or if anyone has modified one to have a twin tank set up? Thanks I love the videos.
Any of these lights are good for primary tech as well. I love how today these lights are recreational when 20yrs ago they would be superior primary cave lights.
can you do a video on dpv's ? what to get at what level
Since they both aren't bright enough for a primary light in local waters I'd go with the Nova just because it's small enough to serve as a good backup; or as my main on tropical dives.
The Mares is just too big for a backup and not bright enough for a primary.
However, for both the Mares as the Scubapro, Simplyscuba caries better torches for less money on their website. Double o-ring, magnetic switches and everything ...
What do you consider enough brightness for a primary light? My primary is a nova 700 and I'm quite happy about it, even in less than 2 m visibility
having a 18650 battery is a plus, as they are easier to obtain, and having a second battery charged and ready to go if the first is exhausted or damaged. the 18650 are most likely a lot cheaper.
Just to let you know the title for the video, and the product link, is incorrect. The comparison is the EOS 10rz not the EOS 5rz. Other than that, another great comparison video :)
Good spot Dan! :D cheers!!
I've had a torch from aldi I paid £4 for. I also have a Northern diver torch I paid £120...both about 8 - 9yrs ago. Aldi one has never let me down but the nd has, had to clean the points... 😕 Strange but true.
Compare some starter level or mid level computers 😊
Is the Blue battery light using power all the time! Having to press the power switch FIVE times is not very intuitive. Hand the scubapro torch to some one and see how long it is before they figger out how turn it on. I would not be happy with buying neither of those
Agree
Hey Simply Scuba, My BCD has Gravity assisted weight pockets, I think they are THE BEST compared to weight pouches. Please do a short review explaining the two, and why isnt there more gravity weights system on more BCDs ??? easier to use than pouches, safer than pouches. No handles that get snagged on stuff. FO REAL, Gravity weights is ACE lol.
bigblue rules
Mares is best
I like the pricey Orcatorch D520 better.
You say simple power button give it someone unfamiliar with the torch and see how long it takes to turn the simple power button on.
id rather see the lights hed to head in aktion instead of trying to figguere out what you are trying to describe.
It's too expensive. I'm just a beginner
A so call diver that doesn't show dive reviews of gear under water 🙄
