- William Byrd (c.1540 - 1623) - Justorum Animae
Justorum animae in manu Dei sunt, et non tanget illos tormentum mortis. Visi sunt oculis insipientium mori, illi autem sunt in pace.
The souls of the just are in the hand of God, and the torment of death shall not touch them. In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die; but they are in peace.

Beautiful rendition, and so well filmed. Thank you! Queen Elizabeth's service today brought me here.
So lovely. I am listening to you following the service in St Giles in Edinburgh, Scotland. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful!
The video draws the viewer in, and captivates the listener to the sheer genius of the composer.
The suspensions are beautifully nuanced.
It‘s the minor tonality before the closing which is genius.
I think that this is one of his most telling and truest creations that Byrd was inspired to pen.
Thankyou so much for an unforgettable performance.
😍
So beautifully poised singing.
I play this a lot!
Thankyou for your superb technique!
😍
This just reduces me to pieces.
Sublime and heartfelt performance!
😍
Inspiring. Thank you.
Thank You To ‘The Marion Consort’ For This Beautiful Gift Of 🎶
Another masterpiece from Rory and the gang . Stunning and exquisite .
So beautiful, thank you for this incredible rendition!
Bravissimi, complimenti
I’ve also loved The Sixteen singing this gloriously beautiful and poignant Byrd bit of genius. This version is just perfect. Thank you
Fantastic voices!
Super gesungen!!!!!!!!!!! Der Sound ist zwischen den Stimmen hervorragend ausbalanciert. Byrd hatte bei diesem Werk ja nur wenige Sänger zur Verfügung, der Text ist Latein und durfte nur im Verborgenen gesungen werden
Wow!! Where was this filmed? My favorite acapella song for Holy Church.
Recording date and location? Advance thanks. Keep it up.
a 👍 🇧🇷 ✨
Hard to criticise sublime singing of a sublime piece. However, more emphasis on diction would not be amiss? esp by the ladies. eg the "s"s of "Visi sunt". 9/10. (sorry).
