- Is skateboarding an act of rebellion, was it ever? I discuss two opposing points of view. As always, just some points for discussion.

Boosh! Maybe it's that last point, skateboarding embracing failure as a building block to grow, that mindset that is the most rebelious part of the whole shebang.
That is a very good point, I like it. It’s that concept and mindset (as you say) that makes it rebellious 👌

Mmmmm food for thought, can I put in my 10 pence worth please, when I go down to the local skatepark ( outdoor concrete free affair) and I’m all padded up to the hilt I don’t feel rebellious I just feel like some old gadge wobbling and flailing about and it’s all the kids and young adults darting about shouting and swearing and smoking weed who are trying to rebellious, even tho it’s a public park the local skaters make it there park or there place!sort of the same as a street spot, it can be a edgy place especially for young kids but I bet it’s exciting as well, I imagine if a council official came over to check out the park he or she would look over to me and think look at that nice man with his safety equipment on having a healthy and wholesome time!!!, not exactly the punk rock attitude that skateboarding is ment to be about!!!!
I hear that. But when that “punk rock” attitude becomes the norm, than to wear pads could be seen as being rebellious. Just an idea. I’m not stuck on that, just a thought
