- Woolacombe in North Devon was voted as the Sunday Times Best Beach of 2021.
Over two miles of golden sand, clear water, great surfing conditions, outstanding natural beauty, make this beach a top Devon beach destination.
Join me as I walk along the coast path to Barricane Beach too. A small cove of a beach with a fantastic beach cafe.
I mentioned surfing lessons in the video. Surfing at Woolacombe is said to be perfect for all ages and abilities. There are excellent surf schools operating on the beach that offer tuition at any level needed.
Hunters surf school is at the main beach entrance. There is also the Woolacombe Surf Centre.

It's great that you can bring dogs on the beach, it was one of my questions 🙂 what a beautiful beach and the little cove. Its delightful! I had no idea it was privately owned, wow!! Gosh the beach huts are cool. I used to love body boarding there! I've stayed in the caravan site there. So well kept. I'd love to visit again! Yummy ice cream Louise! 2 miles wow!
Thanks Amanda 🤗 Yes, it’s fantastic that it is so dog friendly. I was really impressed with how clean it was too. The private company do a really fantastic job with the cleanliness.
I hope you get the opportunity to visit there with your dog and enjoy all that sand, sea and sunshine …and perhaps a bit of body boarding!

What another lovely video ! I haven’t been to Woolacombe but I have been to Ilfacombe ! I would love to visit here too! The RNLI does do an amazing job - it must be an absolute nightmare to watch the coastal areas in the U.K. in good weather !

What a lovely video Louise. We visited that beach and Barricane Beach in April 2018. It was quite chilly then! We stayed in Bideford and explored along the coast from Clovelly to Ilfracombe. Thank you and I am glad you had such a lovely day and enjoyed your swim and your ice-cream :)

I stayed there in June, at Lundy House on the hill in Mortehoe. Took 3 trains, 1 underground, 2 buses & a taxi to get there (from Cambridge) but the views were worth all the hassle! 😍
I did the coast walk to Morte Point on the right (trying my best to avoid all the sheep poo 💩 on the way!) & also to Baggy Point, outcrop on the left far side of the beach. The latter has a great view of a big sea cave.

They definitely have vegetarian options as I have heard that the vegetarian Sri Lankan curry is very popular on their curry evenings.
I think it’s a good mix of veggie, vegan and meat options. Louise
