- This is proof I'm taking bowling seriously again, like I did many moons ago. To prove I'm in it for the long run, I bought a 4-pack of EPCO Pro-Line Urethane Candlepin Bowling Balls, and a BSI bag to carry them in, and maybe shoes in the future.
We take a good look at the stuff, figure out that the 4-hole styrofoam tray is to convert the bowling bag to a candle/duck/5-pin bag.
It turns out the main color (Blue) is very lacking, but still are great to look at. Forest Green wins out, albeit it was to be the smallest amount. The traces of black are about as advertised.
Unfortunately, I could not get "GEORGEF551" engraved into the set, as it does fit in the 10-character limit for engraving, but the letter/number combo was too big, so they didn't do it, and refunded the engraving portion. Perhaps I can send them back out and get something else engraved if I want sometime down the road.
Now it's a matter of trying the balls out, and see how professional my gutter balls will look now.
that bad is very versatile. ball grip on lanes could raise your score also.
A four-pack of bowling balls. That strikes me as funny for some reason.
That's usually because at least one of them is always in the pinsetter, so three are there for use.
I Diet Mt. Dew lover like me. We have a league on Friday nights at Dave's. $15/week. 3 strings. Bunch of good guys.

....and my schedule is too unreliable to join in. Sorry.

Hi, I am looking to buy my first candlepin bowling ball set and i do not know whether i should get the urethane balls or the ram pro II, I play at leda lanes and i know that you have played there before, but do you happen to know what kind of lane it is? Synthetic or hard wood? please let me know
The lanes are wood, and the action is somewhat easy (fast).
so should i get the ram II balls because they have a d rating of 72?
I'm not even sure what the "D Rating" is. I just got bowling balls others I know use, and went with it.
(In my case, Epco Pro Eurothanes, 2lb 7oz)

Are 2lb 5oz balls ok to use
The heavier, the better. 2lb 5oz is not the best, tends to not mix the pins well. 2lb 7oz is the heaviest, and best way to go (1oz shy of pin weight). The 2oz makes a world of difference, believe it or not. The 5oz is minimal acceptance, and the 4oz is not recommended at all, unless you have a disability or of old age.
georgef551 these are my first set of bowling balls
+georgef551 my dad's candlepin balls are 2lb 7oz so I can use that at a first ball in a frame then use the 5oz for the next 2 balls
+georgef551 would that sound ok to do
