Thx Jason this is some fantastic information, I would love to talk with you more when you get a moment. I am an aspiring Dj who needs helpful insight like this.
Great things to consider, but starting with creating a corp, etc. may be putting the cart before the horse vs. growing the business first, then adding the 'bells & whistles'. Still, this would make a good 'short- term' (1-2 years) checklist.
Jason... Thank you thank you thank you for all of your useful content. All of it helps shorten the learning curve to not only myself, but many DJs that are pursuing their dreams. I have lost count on how many times I have taken your advise and saved myself lots of time. I've also learned things that have kept me from making mistakes at events. Keep doing what you do!! ❤️❤️ Larry Morales Boom Room Productions
Hey Larry thank you so much for taking the time to comment and support the channel. It means a ton to me that you are here and Im glad that I have been able to help you in some way. Appreciate you.
Hey Jason, been loving the videos. In the process of becoming a multi-op. How do you figure out how much to pay your DJ’s . Is there some formula you have or is it a percentage thing in terms of what your company takes and what the performer’s cut is? Would love to know. Thanks!
while i admire the completeness of this , my heart goes out to the ones who are really starting from scratch. In all honestly, they cannot complete all of these at once. My best advise is to start small and grow. Gear by gear, experience by experience, crew to another recruit. goodness, if we all had the money we'd get all of this already together. Reality is that we can't. A DJ who is planning to start his/her own business will feel inspired at the same time also (a little) intimidated with this list. that's just my opinion though. I started really basic. worked my way up. One very important tip i got is: Make sure you offer something the others do not have. Make sure you have a niche above the others. That will keep you afloat.
You either do the work the right way or you don’t. If you do the results will speak for themselves. This all is not to be done day one, but it will need to be done in the very beginning of starting a business. A lot of this is very 101, but very very important if that is you want to have a business that grows.
What do you think about these important elements of starting a business?
