Thank you, Terry for showing this! I do this same thing but I also have a day job. So there are lots of after work and weekend meetings! All the time overtime! Keep up the great work!!
+Gee Kay The DJ in the early days I was just like you. 9-5 regular job than 6-9pm and get home by 10:00 or 10:30. I barely saw my family during that time but it paid off.
This is unreal to me, because I'm in Detroit Mi. & what you just stated is something I kinda lived my whole life by. I wish I was in a position to just collaborate with you, mind you when I state this, it's based on the fact that I was hired as a engineer at Ford on life experience. I come from a family of musicians & my DJing is as extension of my heritage, but I chose to pursue drag racing career & loved & thrived at it. But I could never escape my hunger for music & plain & simple "creative control" of what your are listening to, hence the inspiration for my DJ career is a passion in my life. I have been running an automotive repair shop in Detroit for the last 11 yrs. Which I have been a resident dj since 2009 which is the passion of my life.I would love to brainstorm with you & discuss taking your company nationwide. We would have the knowledge & love of howto affect ppl, what they hear & how they hear it. Anyway regardless of if you are interested or not, just know you are not alone & my wishes are for you to prosper exponentially from this day forward.
Spot on! Very accurate! It's sad that most people think Dj'ing is all about fun. Same principles apply to any form of business, gotta put in the work to get the money. Nice vid
Very true , most new dj are attracted to the show but they don't realize how much work we do behind or before the show/gig. Great video a day ibehind the dj show, showing what we really do before the gig/show. I noticed that it was mostly meeting, you went all around town I feel you, good video!!!
Terry , that's cool mate, I've got friends who do mobile DJ business , not only are you a DJ, your a Lighting technician , Engineer , PA Your constantly working on short time frames to be in venues or gigs, plz do more but DJ logs that was so professional and interesting , I want to see the setup you did for that amazing bowling venue. respect man and one of the best DJ channels out there
I agree with DJ Dynablend great video i do the same thing make sure i meet up at the venue and make sure i know what i need great video you are so right being a DJ is a full time job..
EVERY NEW (OR OLD) DJ SHOULD WATCH THIS, This is the best, and most honestly real mobile DJ life. I've DJ'd (mobile) 35 years and I agree 100%, to give you an insight today is a Wednesday morning and I'm watching this video at 8:30am with a coffee in my home/office before I head out. Like the vlog says being a full-time DJ is a FULL-TIME job. GREAT VIDEO My week just this week Sunday - all day booking Monday - Admin till 3 then 2 client visits Tuesday - Gear hire delivery Wednesday - Evening booking Thursday - DAY OFF (sort of) 3 potential client vists Friday - Evening Booking Saturday - Evening Booking
Awesome video bro first time commenting i been watching your videos from time to time but after this one i had to just start showing my self and leave a comment. this is amazing as i wanna learn more better into approaching gig venues and doing a great job to make sure my clients are happy. you very helpful im glad u take your time to teach what u know so us DJ's do the right thing. I Have a question does doing a Booking Mix help ? lets say i make a mix of genre's i can really do but do it just to get booked and a little resume in what/how i do.
Great content. I work harder now than I ever did in the corporate world and never have a day where I don't do something DJ related. Clients and others in the industry can benefit from viewing this. Completely ingenious vlog.
Helpful video man. Love watching your channel. I've been djing for at least a few years now and I'm truly learning stuff from u. Thanks. Keep the videos coming
Enjoyed the day in the life of a DJ business. Thanks Cleveland. I recently visited, rented a car in LA for a few days and the traffic was horrible. Traveling anywhere it took 45-90 mins. I live in the N.J./NYC area so I’m not foreign to traffic but I was surprisingly hectic.
I run full time in the summer part-time in the fall and winter got a day job during fall and winter I run a home office. bout mid-September I will be scaling back to part-time and going to my other job as a state grain inspector. and buying more equipment that I was not able to purchase during this summer.
Great video, I loved working Lucky Strike. I can’t say I work as hard being a full time Dj, like driving and seeing locations isn’t a problem here in Vegas. In LA I almost didn’t have to do it either. But I do some work during the week and that’s being on the phone and sending emails. The best way to make a living is by closing future deals.
+Dj LyRiX That is true about future deals, but if a current client doesn’t feel you are giving them enough attention that can backfire on you also. It’s a balance.
@@ClevelandTerry I suppose, in 900 weddings I really haven't come across it. I'd say maybe about 10 times. But then again, everyones clients are different. I stay in contact via email or over the phone pretty often though.
Wow didn't know you were in LA, the 80 party place looked very familiar to me cos I have done wedding there. When you said victory you were in my hood lol, so cool.
Great insight bro. Thanks for the video. Had no idea u we're based in LA I'm also from socal. Question... So I've been DJing for a while but it's been tough to keep steady gigs. I decided to contract with other companies but of course the pay isn't great. Do u have any recommendations for booking my own gigs? Thanks again bro.
+Maurice Mcgary lol. Don't hate the player...I have all this stuff because I work my ass off and I do a LOT of events. I won't get into costs but I will tell you this. The people having it at their houses are spending way more than the people at the club.
Are you planning on a couple of moving heads on trusses? Or perhaps something compact like a Gigbar 2 for lighting at Lucky Strike? Had no idea they did private parties 🎉
I always wanted to try out djing despite this video, i still wanna try it out, any beginner tips and starter controllers? Cuz CDJs are def not in the budget😂. Also i have those exact sunglasses.
2 big speakers... a macbook..a kontroller and lights Would you say this is all i need to start? I used to be a king on virtual dj back in the days mixing an blending songs so i do have over 10 yrs experience.

Hello Cleveland, that was a great video, do you tell your customers about recording their event for promotional purposes (gig log). Do they refuse?
It’s actually built into the contract.
How do you manage your music intake everyday? What is the ratio?

@@ClevelandTerry Thanks man..im watching your dj videos now..kool! How much should i charge? An how much do you charge?
That’s pretty much my setup ^^^^ as a starter - then learn and upgrade over time
Do you bring a brochure with pricing when you do in home meetings with clients?
My prices are on our company site. I send them before meeting with them. I need them to know what they are getting into before I waste our time.
@@ClevelandTerry makes sense. thank you
Big water flush..that was a pooooop!
Definitely seeing someone that is trying to help the community is definitely poop. Thanks for coming by.
I very rarely meet with clients. It’s inconvenient for both parties and unnecessary
How far in advance do you do the site visit?
BMW THE DJ depends on the client but usually about a month out.
Yes running a Dj business is hard but Djs should always have a side job or Hustle that way money is always coming in.
It depends on how many events you have. A one person dj company needs something else. It’s a full time job running a multi op.
