Probably the biggest expense he overlooked, the one that punched me the hardest, was his actual inventory. Some of those chairs he showed us cost close to $100 per chair. You might think "$100 per chair ain't bad, a few parties will cover that" but that's "per" and you wont need just one. dude has dozens and dozens of them. As reyes mentioned tho, he's been in business for over a decade. It doesn't happen overnight.

When you start up depreciation is the largest expense, but after a couple years its LABOR. Labor ranges, in the industry, between 30 and 40% of gross revenue. It takes about 30 rentals on a chair before you see any profit from them, at his price point it will be more like 45.

@@Percules15 How many years experience in the event equipment rental industry do you have?
If Zero go work for a company or two for at least 4 years full time before you start one.
The vertually everyone of these yourtube rental outfits are a joke and their advice is horible. How do i know? I started in the industry in Feb of '93 and have owned my own company for 20 years.
If you have been in the industry concentrate on your website. DO NOT copy the look of anyone. Make it simple, easy to navigate with photos of you rentals. DO NOT list prices, biggest mistake ever.
70 to 80 % of owning and running a rental company is the operational end. This is not a learn as you go industry. This is also not a high margin industry so having your shit together before you start one is massively improtant.

    • @edwo6648
      @edwo6648 2 роки тому

@@Percules15 I hate to be the one to break it to you but this ain't the industry to try and run as a side hustle. Cutting lawns, walking dogs.... i crap you not, will make you more money as a side hustle than this will. And you won't have jack S for liability.
If you really want to start a real business in this industry go work for one or two other companies for four years, you get to earn while you learn. At the very least you will see what not to do which is worth its weight in gold.
Without exception every youtube video I've watched from some dumb schmuck running a "rental company" like TRB, that bartending twat, Marvin the meat head.... what they have in comon is they are all talking out their ass. If you ever hear anyone tell you the 1/10 th for pricing realize that dates back to the 1960's when ALL event rentals came from general equipment rental companies. Think bobcats and hand drills.
1 listing prices tells your idiot in the same market as you what you are charging, it leads to down ward pricing presure. Note: the majority of price competitive small rental companies don't have any value as a business, they only have inventory auction value at best.
2 when you are busy as all hell and any work added will be on overtime hours why on gods green earth would you charge the same price? You are paying time and a half for labor, margins in the industry almost never go above 10% and labor ranges between 30 to 40% of the rental price....in this case I'll let you do the math to see how posting prices is stupid.
3 they want it early but only want to pay the one day rate. Skip the arguement, get the date they want it and the date they want it picked up and give them a quote for the job.
4 not posting prices on line means you quote them based on the particulars of the job... news flash some jobs you don't want and you can price it acordingly.
If you realy want to get into the industry go work for someone else then start your company, otherwise your just waisting your time and energy. That same time and energy you could apply to your existing job for raises and promotions. If you can't take the time to aprentice in an industry you damn sure have no business starting a company in that industry.

The math is incorrect, he overlooked the cost of inventory, cleaning supplies, not to mention days of labor. I work in the industry and trust me it's days of labor. You really only bring money in on 2 or three days (Thurs,Fri,sat) Sunday is all picking up same with Monday so no money comes in at all and you've wasted fuel and labor. Then you have a day full of cleaning and prepping for the events coming up that's where you spend on labor and cleaning supplies) so again no money coming in but money going out. Then one day off is usually what companies give you. So yes you only get one day off usually no breaks except a lunch and employees make around 100 to 200 per day but that's usually not taxed which also means no benefits. As an owner sure a good amount comes in but your constantly having to buy new trending items, and paying more days to employees with only 2 or 3 days of money actually coming in. So owners usually go one of 2 routes, they either charge a lot more to customers or they do a lot more rents for cheap price. Both have their positives and negatives 😅 good luck, personally after almost a decade in the industry I'm quitting soon

Simple plan for not overworking yourself everyday long hours is maybe only have a few tables and chairs and only rent out on weekends. That’s when most parties tend to be anyway. Just a personal opinion…

And you are wrong, really really wrong. Its not an industry you can make any money at just working the weekends. When do you think you do the cleaning, repairs and loading? When do you take calls and reply to emails?

Renting tables and chairs is a big business. Also dishware and tents. 500,000 a year, all you need is a storage container for storage. No cap!!!! It's basically 3-4 parties a week!

He, Party Rental Creations, is not doing 500 K a year. At his price point he is at best 300K, very best. His net will be around 30k profit at best, assuming he pays himself a salary. If he doesn't pay himself 70-85K net at best.
