    Chances are you may have a leak if the low coolant warning light comes on. When the level falls below a critical amount of coolant in the radiator or Expansion tank, the system triggers a warning alert which can lead to a dangerous overheating situation.

    How To Add Anti- Freeze / Low Coolant (quick version) • How To Add Anti- Freez...
    You must add coolant when the engine is cold (for your safety). Drive the vehicle and check levels again when engine is cold. If it consistently becomes low according to the indicator on the expansion tank then chances are there is a leak.
    Inspect hoses and clamps, near radiator. Inspect expansion tank look around for coolant or water in those areas. You will see the water or coolant in the area where the leak is coming from.
    In my Case, it was the expansion tank....I noticed it when i went to repeat the steps the next day. The expansion tank was leaking small amounts of coolant around the edges and this was what triggered my Low coolant light warning in the first place.
    For now I still need to repeat steps until my new expansion tank comes in....and so excited to do a video on it soon. How to replace an Expansion tank and bleed the system.
    Thank you for watching, I hope this information may help someone. These things can happen to any vehicle. You would just need to stay on top of it and move forward. #RaoulJacques #bimmajoc #Bimmergurus #bimmergurusmedia
    Work Notes/ Disclaimers: Do at your own risk. Inspect when engine is cold. When Coolant is Hot it can burn and contact may cause rashes. Wear Gloves, Inspect the coolant, if it is brown then its dirty and needs to be replaced. Wash away contaminated areas, Coolant is harmful if ingested and Keep away from pets. ⚠️DO NOT OVER FILL EXPANSION TANK...keep levels to recommended marks shown on tank. If you overfill it will cause tank to burst, and engine will over heat causing issues❗️
    BMW coolant is blue never green or orange.....Mix coolant 50/50 with distilled water only/demineralized water , you can find this at any super market in the water section-very important

    Newer BMWs run hotter to comply with emission levels. This combined with excessive use of plastic (possibly recycled) means coolant system is very delicate. My Honda never had issues till around 250K, which was minor as well. If Bimmers were cheaper to buy and service, then one would not mind, but the consumer looses both ways. Why BMWs then?

    • @chrismechanic6164
      @chrismechanic6164 4 роки тому

      When you have a coolant leak that seems impossible to locate a couple of things to look for. BMWs have oil coolers on them that have both oil and antifreeze circulation through them, obviously not mixing unless a crack or gasket failure occurs. A rising oil level turning milky in color would be a sign of a problem with the oil coolervor head gasket. Also an antifreeze odor in the exhaust may be detected if there is a head gasket problem. However, a good leak down test should indicate a problem with these two areas.
