Dilip Kumar does remember Madhubala - see his response at 16:16 - he chokes with emotion and recalls himself as Salim, and Madhubala as Anarkali and requests that they be made alive again. He does not mention anyone else from the film.
I want to pay great homage to Shakeel Budauni whose songs, bhajans, qawwali and naats made it a masterpiece. Dilip kumar and madhubala were incredible artists. But the songs of the movie gave it a vibrant effect. Also, Naushad's contribution was commendable.

If I heard the name of Badshah Akbar then only Prithviraj Kapoor's image comes into my mind and is similar to other characters also. We can't imagine any other artist in Salim and Anarkali roles. DP was nothing but laconic, sleep walking and mumbling in MeAzam. Madhubala carried it almost by her self, aided bu Prithvi Raj Kapoor, who was born to play the role, in Asif's estimation. DP was just an onlooker by comparison.
