The Copper John is the most commonly used trout fly in the west these days. For a good reason, the Copper John is a great attractor pattern and it works! The Copper John was developed by legendary fly tier John Barr. The Copper John can be tied in a wide variety of colors, making it very versatile. The most popular color is red, and it is my favorite as well. A red Copper John catches more fish on the Arkansas River than any other fly out there. The Copper John does not really imitate a specific bug, but it does resemble a stonefly and mayfly very well. What makes the Copper John so effective is it's profile. It just looks buggy! My other favorite colors for the Copper John are: Copper, Chartreuse, Yellow and Black. Tie it the same way, just change the color of your wire!

I love this pattern. I enjoyed seeing you tie it so proficiently aswell. Thanks for sharing
You always tie great flies with fantastic instruction!! Always appreciated!! 👍👍
I appreciated the lesson, especially how you showed the use of the partridge feather. I have watched some other videos and they left me slightly confused about how to cut for the legs. Thanks again.
Thanks for the tutorial! Great looking!
Great video. Found this helpful to tying this fly
👍👍
Nice fly, but if you twist the peacock herl with the tying thread before wrapping it will be much stronger and resist the trout's teeth much better.
Nice tie!
Tying a few today 🍺
Biots have me ripping my hair out lol. New fly tyer.
Really helpful, thanks!
That's a well tied fly...I'd eat that and I'm not even a trout!
Great Video! What do you use to film these?
