- In this modern day and age of the NFL, there are stars on both sides of the ball with big personalities. One position that has especially emerged as a prominent one is the cornerback. Often overshadowed by their wideout counterparts, corners are more important than ever to remedy a further increasing pass-heavy league. There are primarily three types of corners: the traditionalist, who erases half of the field while striking fear into the hearts of quarterbacks everywhere: think Revis Island, Champ Bailey, or the notorious ‘Prime Time’ Sanders. Then there’s the ball hawk, always capable of turning the tide with plentiful takeaways equipped with heightened ‘spidey senses’ giving them a knack for being at the right place at the right time: think Rod Woodson, ‘Night Train’ Lane, or Charles Woodson. And the third type is the complete corner, whose job it is to get downhill and make tackles with physicality, aka meeting free or open-field runners head-on: think Ronde Barber, Antoine Winfield Sr., or ‘Peanut’ Tillman. All three styles of play are cornerstones of their respective team’s schemes. Each year there comes along a player who seemingly comes out of nowhere, presenting keen observers with an enigma. Who is this new star, where did he come from, what’s his story? Let’s focus on one of the most unique players to emerge in 2022, a hidden gem unearthed in the 5th round. Whether it be by sheer luck or projected potential, the Seahawks arguably had the steal of the draft. U don’t know how happy I was when he was drafted. I looked at his measurables and a highlight tape a month before the draft and said that is a Seahawks corner right there. Go hawks💚💙💚💙
Definitely makes you wonder which prospects will slide to day 3, jus shows there's a lot of talent still on the board by that point

It should be mentioned that Tariq allowed less yards less completions and tied sauce in interceptions+passes defended (which for some reason aren’t counted together). The main difference is PFF grade which struggles with consistency between schemes.
