  • Elysia Segal brings you the latest spaceflight news: starting with Oleg Kononenko shattering a long-standing human spaceflight record. Meanwhile, SpaceX gears up for an ambitious test of Starship, rolling out for stacked testing in anticipation of its third monumental flight. And not to be overshadowed, SpaceX's PACE mission takes to the skies, embarking on a mission to deepen our understanding of Earth's oceans, clouds, and ecosystems.

    First sweet earrings!
    Second thank you editor for making the 3/4 segments have quieter background music instead of award show wrap it up music. Makes it far less distracting and easier to under stand Elysia.

    The tilted stance of Ingenuity is a huge indiz that that the rotors touched when landing apruptly and tilting hard when Rotors still turning.
    I had a few coax copters and that happened often when I steared to quickly or the copter tilted quickly.

    Take an old anti-ballistic missile, strap a camera to it, and get some close-up pictures of the Starship in flight. Bonus points for not giving anyone in mission control a heat attack!

    The shot of the control room from Landspace reminded me of my own visit to China. Every chair has an antimacassar on it. "What is an antimacassar?" you ask, "a piece of cloth put over the back of a chair to protect it from grease and dirt or as an ornament." Why? In the 19th century men used an oil marketed as Macassar to make their hair shine, but it would penetrate upholstery, so a crocheted cloth was placed over the high back of easy chairs. The American product Brylcreem was specifically designed to achieve the same aesthetic effect without the annoying side effect because "A little dab'll do ya."

    Isn't the BE4 paired with the one shown the one that exploded on test a couple of months back taking out one of the BO test stands. Blue seriously needs to further develop that engine to simplify manufacture and reduce cost, I believe they may actually be losing money on the engines they supply to ULA because the price was agreed before all the manufacturing complexities were encountered.

      I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw something the last week of February or the first week of March. FAA stated a few days ago SpaceX still needs to submit a few last things for approval so I assume that will be the biggest thing we’re waiting on.

    Remember that the only reason why Kononenko has broken the record is because his Soyuz had a leak, forcing his entire team to spend an extra 6 months on the ISS, almost certainly because of a manufacturing flaw, since an almost identical Progress cargo spacecraft sprang the same leak!

    • @ale131296
      @ale131296 3 місяці тому

      Uhhh no, Kononenko wasn't part of the crew of the Soyuz that sprung a leak

      Sergey Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin, and Francisco Rubio were the three astronauts who returned in September of last year after spending just over a year at the ISS after the radiator of their Soyuz capsule sprung a leak .

    7:43 I appreciate being too old for this. But I think what he really meant was, I'm too human for this. AI will be required to process that much data. I envy young people. They are training up on the new ask it and get it tools we never had. (Old people. lol)

    • @anthonylosego
      @anthonylosego 3 місяці тому +1

      Also, I appreciate using machine learning (ML) instead of artificial intelligence (AI) which is not a great moniker. ML is better. It's NOT artificial, it's totally just machine based learning or intelligence. (MI would work).

      That’s how Falcon started too. It now accounts for 80% of global launch services, did 98 launches last year, and just had 10 launches in one month. All while being the only system to reuse boosters. Which it started doing 9 years ago with its closest reuse competitor still a couple years out.
      Rapid iteration is unsettling to those who don’t understand it.
