Much more enjoyable than the first episode, less amateur dramatics and more photography, excellent. Loved the guy who did the light painting he was photographs answer to Fred Dibnah, very knowledgeable and very laid back with a dry sense of humour.
“You have no idea of what you’re going to get before you see the back of the camera.” That’s true for your Canon, but the Composite Mode feature on Olympus/OMD cameras allows you to view the image building up in real time. I’m surprised other manufacturers haven’t included it by now.
Where’s the fun or challenge if you use composite mode? It’s as though you don’t need any skills if you have the camera do everything for you. This is a topic we will be discussing on next month’s podcast. What do you think?
Really nice to do photography road trips with like-minded friends. The sense of humor and banter are very funny. Thank you for sharing your photography adventures.
Err.. why isn't this channel massive? Great content, great production, superb locations.. I have joined as member. £3.99 a month for this? Totally worth it.
Another great episode, I really enjoyed this! For me the topic about light painting was a real eye-opener. Stunning. We've seen the Chester Zoo documentary before on Belgian national tv, so that topic was very welcome too. Finally, all the teams' dedication to "getting the shot just right" is exemplary... With a special mention for Marcus who took it with an analogue camera. Well done team, this really is amazing stuff. Thanks for all the inspiration you provide!
Best show on UA-cam ! Thanks so much for your support and generosity , you all put a lot of work into this series. And I’ve been shooting since the 35mm days but unfortunately learned a lot of bad habits from professional photographers. Like back button focusing and aperture priority for landscape photography. I will be getting more involved and spending the world around to some of my photography friends, thanks again
This has always been the best show of its kind, in my opinion. For a future episode i would like to see an article about laptops and what type might be best suited for photo editing on a budget. I dont think you have covered this subject in the past yet its probably as important as camera skills. Great to see you all back again.
Hard to believe, but even on the white lighthouse building, the ancestor hundreds year ago added some art feature to it. Look at the window masonries. Because of the missing art, most of our houses look like they are build by losers. My opinion only, of course. By the way, the panorama photo is truly beautiful. Nicely done Marcus!
Ligthtpainting is great fun, easy to learn, and one is only limited by imagination. Using smaller apertures to restrict ambient light even allows one to do lightpainting in less than complete darkness as long as one has bright lights to paint with.
Great show. Being nonBritiish it's great to see the national parks and featured shots, the light painting was interesting. The zoo shots were very well done and Marcus got some great incredible good fortune in even getting the rainbow. Great patience.
The Zoo is always a good starting point for a new telephoto lense. Had a great time in Burgers Zoo, Arnheim, in the Netherlands, shooting exotic butterflies while they landed on my wifes shoulder 😊
Such an excellent show again, I loved every bit of it. I almost choked on my coffee when I saw my name on the shortlist of possible trip winners. :-D Kudos to the actual winner, Skye is such a beautiful place to visit. The zoo feature was very inspirational as well. Thanks for being back with such a wonderful show, guys!
Great show and lots of interesting content, great to see different types of photography you may not have tried before. Loving the national park challenge, great to see some familiar locations, may be there is a photo guide book in there😊
Hi Team: Great show! I am really liking the format that you have adopted for this year. Marcus should be particularly proud of this lighthouse image. I am anxious to see Ruth's segment from Venice, as were there in October for 4 days. I'd also like to see Harry visit the Canadian Rockies and show us around some of his old favourite locations. Keep well . . . Keith (Canada)
Really amazing stuff, yet properly explained so that I could picture myself at least having a try... but even then my little brain is going to take a while to digest it all! Fantastic - thank you all.
Fantastic as always. Chester zoo looking fantastic. I live about 15 miles from it and haven't been for years since the kids grew up . Keep up the great work guys 👍
I love your shows and what tops it off for me is the wonderful backing music you use. Can you tell me what the albums are so I can try and buy some? Keep up the great work.
Hi Mick. Thanks for getting in touch. Most of the music we use is from a website called epidemic sound. It’s a collection of royalty-free music but you have to pay a monthly subscription to download it. It’s nice to know someone appreciates the effort we go to to select the best music for each feature.
We'll try not to, but it's an ever increasingly difficult balance to make it a viable venture, so who knows what the future holds. We need more supporters!
Phenomenal show. When you guys set the bar, you set it beyond Olympians. And I think back to previous shows….and ask did you ever get the snow- weather on Ben Nevis? Heading back to Scotland soon, and you guys have wetted my whistle for a cheeky visit to Glencoe & Skye…..and maybe the Zoo.. keep up the great work… great to see Harry on Solid foods these day.. cannae beat a rusk!
Thanks Brian. We haven't yet done Ben Nevis in the winter, but it's still on the list. the guy who did the initial feature (Ben) is no longer with us, so the idea is just on a long list of features to record when the opportunity arises.
Excellent video as always! So much information! I just booked a flight for the UK, it'll be my first time heading across the pond - let alone across Canada - and I can't wait. Excited to see Isle of Skye and the rest of the countryside. Your group have been a huge inspiration of mine in my short time of photography.
The light dome was created using an old bike wheel fitted with a single axle (half the diameter) with a string of battery powered led’s round the rim, switch them on and rotate the wheel 360 degs and switch off.
We record in 4K but output in 1080 because this allows us to zoom and crop. To output in 4K, we would need to record in 8k (or 6k) which then slows the editing process down. Maybe in the future we can increase the resolution. Thanks for the feedback.
Great video as always 😊 did you guys find out the sharpest aperture on the sigma 150-600 by any chance? I use f - 9 but you guys are the pros so any help would be appreciated🎉
Hi Doug. We didn’t do any tests, as that wasn’t the purpose of the feature. We used the lenses wide open and found them to be excellent, no Doubt they would get slightly better when closed down a couple of stops but we didn’t do this on this occasion
Again a fantastic Episode 👍 You managed to cover quite a lot of topics in 60min without the feeling that something is coming to short, that's great! For me personally "Analog Affairs" could get a hole Episode for itself, but i guess that's not the case for the majority of the audience, but one can dream, right?😅
I enjoyed very much The trip to Thé light house. You took.great Photos. I would like to know which Film did you use and did you use A Center filter on your lens? One More question did you print the Best photo?...
The film was Provia 100f. No centre filter is necessary on the 180mm lens. There were a few good shots. We just used the one with the rainbow, as this is what Marcus referred to at the end.
Ahhh...I missed the trip to Skye by 3 slots on the wheel......anyway - in the first day of the challenge you were carrying tripods.....did you really need them??
Well that's a bit naughty! Count the balloons you said. Surely this means that an actual balloon is in view and not just the basket minus a balloon like in the first two "balloons", or lack there of, that you counted. A little unfair I feel. Sorry, just felt the need to vent in this instance. Love the show otherwise.
@@PhotographyOnline No, a ballon is a balloon and a basket is a basket. Should have made it clearer. I interpreted "any part of a ballon" to mean maybe a little quarter of a balloon creeping into a frame. Surprised you didn't count the shadow too.

I love light painting!
You came to the right place then! Thanks for watching.
great show. the light painting was very interesting. I am going to watch it again and put on some early pink floyd to enhance the experience
Hi Israel. Good to hear from you. We would have used some PF on the soundtrack had it not been for copyright! Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for watching Ian. If we knew you lived locally, we could come round to yours instead of having the dodgy takeaway we eneded up with in Chester!
Another great show guys - and love the countdown graphics too.😀
Glad you enjoyed it
Loved the light painting. Did I hear correctly that you were capturing all of those images in a single exposure? If so, that is awesome to know
Yes. All done in a single capture. Any other way would be cheating! Thanks for watching.
Love that Lighthouse shot 👍

That sounds like you caught an excellent bit of animal behaviour!
Brilliant show. Packed full of different ideas. How did the light painting guy do the little light domes in the church?
Well ask him and let you know
The light dome was created using an old bike wheel fitted with a single axle (half the diameter) with a string of battery powered led’s round the rim, switch them on and rotate the wheel 360 degs and switch off.
