I currently rewatching the show and i still feel both of them only brings the worst in each other and should never have been together, not as friends nor at all.
I rewatched this lately. Ross is a bully and a manipulator and completely spoiled by his parents. Only Phoebe is wise to his behaviour. My favourite moment is when Jack Geller gives his Porsche to Monica, Ross's reaction, shouting What about me! What about me! just says it all. Ross and Rachel won't stay together, I will give it less than 6 months, and their daughter will realise just what her Father is too. In the long term it will only be Ross's parents who will stick by him and blame everybody else for Ross's shortcomings.
I thought I was the only one but damn she is definitely awful, not impressed with her as a person at all. Shes very self centred and very harsh to her friends when the mood caught her. Just watching through season 9 now. Ross and Rachel are having a baby together right. He gets this pretty fine woman to date, has a lot in common with him. Rachel has a big issue with it and tells Ross basically shes unhappy about it all and wants him around her all the time because of the pregnancy. Then not long after Emmas born, she gets a guys number from "Bill from the bar" and kisses that guy Gavin from her job whatever his name is on Monicas balcony. Not along after becoming a mother hooking up with 2 guys. Ross sees this from his appartment where he was taking care of their child and obviously not happy about that at all. So that was after she had this huge problem with him dating that woman during the pregnancy then she hooks up herself. Horrible. Really immoral self centred woman indeed.
No, Rachel did not want Ross to start a new relationship bc she was about to give birth. He did date Mona during the pregnancy but Mona dumped him. After the baby was born he was flirting with other women. Rachel had the right to date other guys, she wasn't in a relationship with Ross.
So we’re gonna ignore the fact that Ross tried to sneakily hide Rachel’s phone messages from guys she was interested in after she gave birth? Right, Rachel is the ONLY one that’s the problem
Early seasons when they are still young and flirty and nervous live rentfree in my heart. The first kiss, the when were you under me, etc. are the moments I associate with ross and rachel. Nothing that happened later will tarnish the image for me.
Nostalgia put Ross and Rachel together but IRL they would probably break up and get back together 5 times after the series finale. Ross is probably well suited to someone like Julie, a pretty smart nerd, Rachel someone like Joshua (Tate Donovan), a handsome fashionably interested socialite. Here's a question, what do Ross and Rachel have in common? What would they do together? Ross hated fashion stuff, Rachel hated paleontology lectures. So what makes them a good couple?
Exactly, they liked the IDEA of each other. The whole break should’ve been the final nail in coffin, she was too focused on her career for a relationship, and he was too clingy out of jealousy, they didn’t fit anymore
Indeed she is!!, her character didn't aged well, she sure was toxic, only wanted Ross when he was dating someone else and seemed truthfully happy., she hardly took cared of her daughter since it was stablished that Ross always changed her diapers, she couldn't remember when Emma was born, felt being pregnant was a exhausting and ended her maternity leave early to go back to work and only at the end of the season "she got off the plane" the more I watched Friends the more I noticed her narcissistic behavior where no presents were never good enough for her to keep and always exchanged for store credit., and yes!, Thank you Dr. House!, I praised you when I finally heard someone said "YOU WERE ON A BREAK!" Sadly many of us grew up thinking this type of behavior in relationships were ok and normalized toxicity in our love life's 😢 even though she "got off the plane" I'm sure they didn't stayed together.
Nope, Ross was never happy with anyone else, he was just using other women to get over Rachel. Rachel did not even want Ross back after the first few yrs, it was Ross who did not get the annulment bc wanted to be married to her, got upset when she was with Gavin or Joey... It does not matter if they "were on a break". He slept with somebody else and I am happy that Rachel dumped him after that. The funniest part of the show is that Ross's life was a mess after that and he never had a happy relationship after that. That's karma and the writers did a good job 💯 😊
Honestly, Rachel had potential to be a better person if she officially got together with literally anybody else. Tag for example, was admittedly not that bad, yeah the whole office affair was dumb, but as a couple, they actually communicated like grown adults. Ross I don’t have hope in regardless of his relationship status with Rachel. He’s arrogant, he’s manipulative, and throws a tantrum when things don’t go his way. I swear, every time I get reminded of the guy, the first image I get in my head is him close to tears and hear his shrill whine because he has to face the consequences of his own actions
Ross was a good character when he got himself in bad situations like with the leatherpants 😂 but he wasn't really bf/husband material. He was awful to Rachel, also to Emily and Mona and other girls. I love Rachel, she was a sweetheart, a really great character... I loved her more when she wasn't with Ross. I like that she never let him have the last word, and Ross needs someone like that. So that is why they were OK together
Rachel was the most selfish and self centred character...worst of all ... whatever Rachel did was only for her own good...she was a bad friend and a bad girlfriend She had to work on the anniversary....she was the most jealous person and when ross was jealous she would call him insecure..... she never wanted to see ross happy without her...she ruined his relationship multiple times ...with bonnie she first told ross to get back together and then told him to take full responsibility of their break up...and she got mad when ross slept while reading the 18 page confession ( front and back) ....she also ruined his relationship with emily and julie Overall all she did was for her own interest...she even took the name which Monica decided for her own baby.....i hate her
Rachel was the worst character out of all of them, she was very manipulative, always wanted what she can’t get and she has no problem ruining everyone’s life if it means she’s getting what she wants, Ross can be annoying sometimes, but it always felt that everything he did was unintentional, when in Rachel’s situation she was always well-aware and extremely selfish. What bugs me the most is how she never wanted to see Ross happy, yet in every time Ross dumps the girl he was seeing for Rachel, she would always refuse to be with him and go out with some random guy
Odd that you say that because I see it as the complete opposite. Rachel has always seemed immature to me, considering how she grew up, she’ll ALWAYS act spoiled to some degree. Ross WENT OUT OF HIS WAY to tell his girlfriends what they want to hear instead of what he actually feels, even if it’s unintentional, it’s still manipulation. I’m also still not over the Julie incident, idc if Rachel confessed to a taken man, Ross had EVERY opportunity to turn her down or have enough respect to break up with Julie BEFORE sticking tongue down Rachel’s throat, I’m sorry but “I didn’t get a cat” is not good enough, still cheated on a girl that was sweet and smart, and frankly a far better match for Ross. I don’t recall Rachel making physical moves on Ross while in a relationship with someone else, and that alone puts her in a better light for me than Ross

Agreed.

Ross Gellar THE DIVORCE FORCE

Finally someone said it ...the worst friend of all

I still ship it.
