    Great Video on the install. I just bought myself a new Terrova for my boat and am in the middle of setting it all up. Your video has a "No-B.S.", straight forward set of instructions. Thank you for taking the time to create it and share it. I did go to some of your Amazon links and purchased a few things for my install... Happy to help out.

    Thank you for all videos. I just did a lot of upgrades, vinyl, dual battery systems, battery switch, throttle and shift controls with new cables. I just bought a new 24 volt motorguide to pair with Lowrance. Your videos give me the confidence to do the work myself.

      Awesome I’m glad you liked the video! So the only way I recommend installing a transducer on a trolling motor like this one a electric steer style,is to use a mount made by precision sonar. If you look them up you will see the mount I’m talking about. That is the only way to do it without that it will eventually lead to you damaging the transducer cable and replacing the transducer. It’s one of those not if but when situations! Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!

    I’ve read somewhere you choose shaft length by being so far below the water line on your boat. Do you use the same process or have a different way of measuring for shaft length? Awesome install man hope to do mine soon as well 👍🏾👍🏾

    Could u show where you ran wires for the speakers? I wanna keep the onboard charger under console and run an extension to the trolling batteries. Was there a foam you had to break through or is the channel pretty open?

  • @HellaSalty49
    @HellaSalty49 11 місяців тому

    Did you run an outlet for the battery charger? Or do you leave the hatch open when you charge the batteries? Also was thinking of putting a plug for the battery charger on the panel the trollling motor wires go into. Is there an easy way to fish tape the wire from the charger to that panel

    Thanks for the video. I've watched a lot of videos on installing the Riptide Terrova, but yours is the best and by far the most complete I've seen. I'm installing mine on a KeyWest 189fs. I mounted it today and will finish the electrical tomorrow. Is there a reason that you put the circuit breaker in the battery box and didn't mount it on the wall with the battery switch?

    • @ReelLifeFisherman
      @ReelLifeFisherman  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks ! I’m glad you like the video and it was helpful.. the only reason I put it in the battery box and didn’t mount it in this case is because I’m throwing a lot of stuff in and out of that compartment constantly and didn’t want to hit it and trip it accidentally or something.. but on a normal install with batteries under a center console or something like that I would definitely mount it . Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!

    Why counter sink the drill holes on the boat? That's doesn't seem necessary in this installation. Everything else in the video was excellent. Thanks for the information.

      Countersinking the holes drilled on a fiberglass boat will help prevent the gel coat from cracking later down the road. Thanks for watching glad you liked the video..

    Wondering if any benefit to installing an MK plug instead of hardwiring with switch like you did … I’d prefer to hardwire it I think as less holes to cut in boat but seems like everyone doing the plug …

    Nice work!
    Is there a way I can use the same motor for two boats?…or would it be have to be two different motors due to the size difference in boats?
    I have a 21’ Seahawk and a 16’ Marlon.
    You enjoying Florida more than the PNW? Might be a cool vid to compare contrast fishing in FL vs OR.

    Great video, couldn't you use the breaker as the on/off switch for the trolling motor and skip the on/off switch. It seemed to me on my old Ranger that the breaker is what they used to control isolate the starter battery from all the electronics and did not use and on/off switch. I plan update my wiring on a small fishing boat and wondering if I can get by with just a main breaker switch. Thanks!

    • @ReelLifeFisherman
      @ReelLifeFisherman  8 місяців тому

      Thanks glad you liked the video! Yes you absolutely can use a resettable breaker as a switch. I actually do this for my flounder gigging lights I added that will be in an upcoming video . One reason I didn’t do that for the trolling motor is the breaker is in the battery box and I wanted to keep that covered. Also the boat should have came with the battery switch already installed for the trolling motor.. but this one didn’t. They forgot to install it at the factory.. I work for bass pro as a boat mechanic so I just installed it myself.. thanks for watching and commenting

  • @The.husky.max.

    All trolling motors use a breaker so if you don’t want to pay the $50-$70 for a switch you can always pop that breaker! it’s essentially the same thing

    • @ReelLifeFisherman
      @ReelLifeFisherman  10 місяців тому

      Awesome glad you like the video! So I have a main battery switch that kills power to everything.. if I didn’t i would wire it to a switch. Because it will slowly drain the battery. It’s always looking for the trolling motor signal. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!

  • @nayrbk8518
    @nayrbk8518 Рік тому +1

    Awesome video, keep posting more! I noticed you mounted the trolling motor off to the side, does that affect the steering on the boat versus having it centered on the bow? or does it not matter ?

    • @ReelLifeFisherman
      @ReelLifeFisherman  Рік тому

      Thanks! I’m glad you like the video! So on this boat it’s a skiff that’s designed to have the trolling motor mounted off to the side.. it doesn’t really make any difference steering it that I notice. Even spot locking in currents it holds straight. On a V-hull style I would say you want to mount it so when deployed it’s as close to the center of the V on the bow as possible. Thanks for watching and commenting! Let me know if you have any questions ..

    excellent video: will it work w/out the heading sensor? buying a used an seller says you don't need it? will 60" shaft work on a 4' of freeboard?can this be mounted on transome?

    • @ReelLifeFisherman
      @ReelLifeFisherman  7 місяців тому

      Yes it will work without the heading sensor. It’s mostly used for spot jog feature. I wouldn’t recommend mounting it on the transom it’s not designed for that and would be very hard to control.

    If you want less mess for anti seize. Find some food grade anti seize. I used to work for a shop making aluminum rod holders and our stainless hardware we used the food grade because it made less mess on the finished product.
