Arent we lucky to have both options 😅 Triples when you want triples and VR when you want that additional immersion. I have me tioned it but ive been running the Varjo Aero for the last 2 years mostly for sim racing and occasional flight sims. I can easily wear it for hours and when others get the comfort right, get in there!! 😎
I have big triples, but often use the quest 3 with pass through/ Openkneeboard so that I can see my generic controls/that I have purposely designed for use in VR. I find it a game changer, especially with helicopters, but also get eye strain and have comfort issues with long sessions. So big jets IFR long flights =triples and helicopters or short flights sessions VR with MR. I expect as comfort /technology improves I will move completely over to VR with MR.
The VR-headset simulates a helmet. Perfect for fighter jets simulation. 😉 I use Honeycomb Aeronautical Bravo Throttle Quadrant and its quite easy to feel the levels and buttons. A more advanced cockpit like yours should be better to use with mixed reality. I use Pimax Crystal Light and the problem for me is when i want to fly aerobatic sequense and see the Aresti card. The Swift in Condor Soaring have a built in Aresti card in the sim. Another option is to use a headtracker like trackIR. Its works quite well and you can look around in the sim just by move your head a little. It take some time to get used to it but then is it like a mix of VR and flat screen.
I've never thought about it like that before and although I've never worn a modern fighter pilot helmet I can imagine your right. And yea, I think at some point mixed reality will be the go.
I have the Quest 3 at the moment. And have had different others as well. I love VR. But as long it is not as Crystal clear and comfortable as pancake screens, I really love my triple screen setup as a backup. When I play in VR I can't play hours in a row. Eye strain etc. So then I hop back to my triple screen setup. But the immersion is of course less than in VR. Especially cockpit games
G'day from Oz. First up, love your videos. Really informative. Appreciate all the effort you go to. I was wondering if you could give some advice. I recently purchased a new rtx4080 and a BigScreen Beyond. Trying to use it with msfs2024 and the experience has been very underwhelming. I have found the visuals quite realistic on a monitor but through the BSB headset, the visuals look crap. Reminds me of the visuals of 20 years ago. I have had to dial back the vr visuals in order to prevent crashes, but even when I do up the settings, the flight deck of a 787 looks almost photo-realistic but the outside world looks terrible. Did you find this to be the case with the Pimax or did you have a much more powerful PC than your 4080? Has anyone else been experiencing the same with VR or is there any advice for a sim newbie? Any advice would be very much appreciated. On another note, what sort of footprint does your 3 monitor setup require? thinking about returning the BSB and going to a monitor setup. Yours is very inspiring.

@@THEGHOSTMAKER1 I got a bad one and returned it instead of trying my luck with support and copium that the would be able to fix my issues. I have a 4080, i9 CPU. It has a decent display. However, my experience with Quad View has been hit and miss. I do flight and driving sims on my DOF Reality 3. I have had several vr headsets in my time and I have no temptation towards pimax. That thing looks like a heavy brick on your head. I just bought a Bigscreen Beyond as well and that thing is just something else. Having something as light as that, or as heavy as a quest 3 is what I’d go for. @g-locmedia I'm not just saying this but it's one of the most comfortable headsets I've got. The headset floats above my nose and can easily wear it for hours. I sim race in it 100% of the time.
Saw the Get your game on video. And too bad :( I have the original Pimax Crystal with eye tracking. Used it for 14 months now, almost every day. No problems so far. Love it. Quad Views foveated rendering with eye tracking in DCS is incredible. Crystal clear graphics! No stutters, smooth as butter. Take some time and research to get the settings right in all the involved software. But when set correctly- NO WAY I am getting back to 2D flying again. But, takes an effort to get it right. Microsoft killing wmr has left a bad taste in my mouth. A 500 dollar reverb g2 isnt too expensive, but knowing it will become useless when windows 11 forces the 24h2 update has me questioning vr in general. I dont wanna spend another 800 on a pimax for it to possibly become forgotten tech in a few years like my g2. The cheap 300 dollar quest 3s looks more attractive to me. Just my opinion.
With more people trying vr and learning about the technology through decent softwares and games, it will eventually grow without buzz words like ai or hype which VR doesn't need them because it got the the best design in the technology since the first pc and it slowly become a powerhouse in tech as pc did. People will realize how powerful it is that they keep using it and develop better softwares for it.
After the pc, every techs are either a downgrade or sidegrade but vr is the first evolution that actually improve upon it in the 21st century. I only try vr through Quest 2 for 3 years and I already see the potential even at its 1%, I can see how huge it will be in a lot of area like productivity not just gaming. There are motion controllers, eyetrackings, handtrackings, facial trackings, body trackings, AR that are in the flatscreen device but they work 1,000x better and more natural in VR/AR headset.
It's an easier choice for those of us who don't have the space for, or interest in building such a big setup.
