Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but you can loot the .30 cals off of your stuart tanks and use those in your infantry squads. I do this early game to build up some good suppression weapons and replace the garand on my infantry. Then you just resupply the tank and it gets its .30 cal back. That is a quick way to get some .30 cal support infantry in your squads without having to get all the way to the 101st.
I actually genuinely love the mounted troops with USA like armored Calvary, the half tracks are insane with the .50 cal, and the stuarts and tank destroyers are amazing to skim around the back of your line and pop out and fire a few shots the move
A few things not mentioned are the 101st grenadiers use the M1 Garand launcher. No other squad has the semi auto launcher. The M36B1 also has a hull MG and I think in older versions of the game it could hold more shells. Since US tank destroyers can't button up, it doesn't become helpless when the commander dies. The B1 version of the Priest uses the Ford V8 engine while the first version uses the big radial the M4A1s use. I used to bring both as a pair until I noticed the B1 kept pulling ahead in speed.
I love my M20 with the spare bazooka. Great early game anti-tank for infantry. And I do like my 101st squad and grest firepower, but the 1st special forces squad is great, too. Build-in squad medic, stealthy, and the flare gun is fun for hitting an MG emplacement/ sandbag line on a cap.. cheers!
The m10 carried me for most of my conquest; it’s cheep not a complete glass canon like the hellcat and can deal with anything but the heaviest armor frontally.
Those are like for like all the units I end up using in all my games. This is the "stealth archer build" of Ostfront. A good challenge would be NOT to use any of those haha
