  • Footage shot at or around Norton Bridge during 2002 when Classes 47 and 86 ruled Cross Country services and the main WCML services were in the hands of Class 86, 87 and 90.
Plenty of freight on offer too.

If I close my eyes hard enough, I can live in A time I was almost too young to remember

Excellent. Takes me back, and plenty of modelling inspiration.

Great footage mate, it's nice to look back to when the West Coast was full of interesting locos rather than the dire state of it these days with the odd decent bit of traction interspersed with pendo after pendo...

I'd forgotten how smart the VT livery was when it was shiny and new.

Hi Photo 57601, hope you are well, I’m currently in the process of making a documentary on the Winsford rail crash and was wondering if I could use your Class 87 clip at 2:52 ? If it’s not, I completely understand.

I suppose the 47's did the services equivalent to the Voyages and maybe 350's and ther 86's, 87's and 90's were essentially the pendolino's of the time.

47s and HSTs mainly for XC,North Wales and the other odd non electrified routes, 86,87 & 90s for basically the current 390s, also nice to see the 175s further south in England than they were with ATW & TfW they only did the odd Birmingham diagrams I did have a huge soft spot for them.

Great footage of the final years of loco haulage on the WCML. Wish I'd payed a bit more attention to them while they were still there! There's not much variety to see anymore now its all generic units.

I miss the days when most passenger services were locomotive-hauled. So much more noise back then
