One of the things I love most about this crochet hairstyle is that it is maintenance-friendly especially since I have a scalp condition. I am able to take the twists in the front down to wash my hair and treat my scalp weekly, and it's super easy to re-style. This also helps create longevity for the style because the front half can remain fresh and neat over the course of the style.
For the first cleanse, I use the Eden Bodyworks Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo. Second cleanse, I use the Nizoral shampoo. Lastly, I condition with the Eden BodyWorks Lavender Aloe deep conditioner. I let the deep conditioner sit on my hair for 30 minutes with a plastic shower cap.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to film me applying the leave in conditioner to my hair because my camera battery dies and was charging. But after applying my leave-in conditioner, I blow dried my hair. I use the Chi 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray as a heat protectant before going in with the blow dryer on my hair.
After blow drying, I go in with the Esha Slick N Slay 2-in-1 Braid and Edge Gel to re-style my hair in the flat twists just like I did in the tutorial video. I use the gel to make sure my middle part is straight and to smooth the top and front of my hair.
    2ND HAIRSTYLE
First I lightly tease the roots of the crocheted hair around the perimeter with a comb to help the invisible roots blend a little better. Next, I take the ends of the flat twists and lay them across the top of my head and pin them to hide the line of demarcation where the crochet hair starts at the top of my head. I take a thin section of crochet hair from both sides of my head and bring them bring them around to the back of my head under the rest of the crocheted hair. I hold the strands in place while putting the rest of the hair into a low ponytail. Then I tie the strands once at the nape of my neck and loosely twist the ends to anchor the tie.
Next I take a small black rubber band and tie it around the end of the ponytail to keep the ends of the crocheted hair in place. Then I take the end of the pony tail and the twist and tuck them into the ponytail underneath. To hold the hair in place and keep my braids from peeking through, I bobby pin the sides of the ponytail.
That's it! This style is super simple and easy to do. I received so many compliments on this style. No one could tell it wasn’t my hair!
