43:48 funny thing about Prinnies? Later games make their deaths from being tossed not count towards your ally kills so it won’t lock you into the bad endings.
Yo, seeing you fall in love with Disgaea (long before the conception of this video) was one of the coolest things I've seen from a popular cartoon UA-camr such as yourself. Should your Disgaea love continue, I'd love for you to talk about how the game series does so much with limited animation and the way it recycles assets. Just check out the ultimate attacks in Disgaea 5. Amazing. Thanks as always for another video I will watch over and over and possibly leave on in the background. Edit: Oh, and I nominate Disgaea Infinite next, a visual novel in which you play as a Prinny trying to solve a petty argument between Etna and Laharl over who are Laharl's pudding. Makes great use of assets as I've stated above.
Danganronpa 1 & 2 were probably not obscure enough for this video but I thought to bring them up anyway. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is also the best post-Team Silent game that deserves attention. Phantom Brave is also a game from the Disgaea devs. For your DS video: - OkamiDen is a sequel to Okami that not everyone knows about - Radiant Historia is a timeline-jumping RPG that's _really_ good - Sonic Rush & Rush Adventure were fun 2D games that introduced Blaze the Cat - The World Ends With You is an RPG in an urban setting with slick visuals
Honestly my thoughts. Some people might forget they come from the PSP/Vita though, and I'd say many people know _of_ the games but not really what they are.
Thank you so much for including megaman powered up and pointing out how much extra they went. Also the drop of dudes rap (megaman drops Jan. 7th) was amazing
That remake AMV Tribute based on the classic 2000s commercial/trailer of Disgaea 1 was wonderful. Really sums up the badass absurdly over the top exaggerated action and feeling of being an unstoppable force of nature wreacking havok on all who appose you that is core piece of Disgaea's identity as a series.
For either another PS2 or PSP video, seeing Gitaroo Man get talked about would be great. It's a rhythm game that's stuck with me ever since I beat it at the beginning of this year, and it feels as if there's nothing truly like it.
I have a PSP emulator that I had basically exclusively to play the LocoRoco games, nice to learn about some other cool ones to check out! Awesome video as always. Also I'm a Mega Man fan so awesome to see you talk about one of the games.
Thank you for featuring Disgaea, I feel the same way about the trio and the other colorful characters! They do kinda remind me of Billy and Mandy (and Grim), just a couple of vitriolic friends facing unspeakable horrors. Just fyi, those images with the sprawl of characters is from the spin off novels that aren't canon but still interesting to read. Unfortunately, I'm not certain if all of them were translated but someone did some of them!

As someone who has a fixation on Robot Masters, Megaman Powered Up is really precious to me, I love how very distinctive it is with each one, god I haven't seen another Megaman game where you can play as the Robot Masters, it It would be great that Capcom decided to make a sequel or a new game where we can have these interactions before starting a boss battle and we can play as them.
If you cover DS games there's an obscure one I had called Tornado. It's like Katamari but insits that you constantly spin your stylus and blow into microphone.
The psp has always been one of my favorite consoles, period. I put sooo many hours on that thing in my adolescence; sleepovers, holiday family visits, camping trips, school, friends house, bathtub, I always had that fucking psp. This was before I hacked it, and my usage really went into overdrive, playing literally any game I wanted! Eventually, it stopped working. It's been quite a few years but I'm currently working on slowly fixing it, piece by piece. But I think I'll just get one of those fancy pre-hacked ones on etsy someday. Also one time some kid in our class in the 8th grade was going around showing off the porn on his psp. He was a weird kid! Anyway I just know this video is gonna be a classic Rebeltaxi jam. Already smashed that like button❤

Surprised LocoRoco and Papaton were left off, but I suppose that's follow-up video material. Other games to consider for this list would be Archer Maclean's Mercury, Me & My Katamari, and Pac-Man World Rally (that last one has content exclusive to the PSP version, strange to leave it out of the home console versions)
Would be cool to see you cover Mad Rat Dead at some point since it was made by the same company who made Disgaea. Very fun rhythm platformer with an incredible art style and a good soundtrack.
Great video, can I just say how much I love how your the only UA-camr that has ad breaks? Every other content creator on this platform just have ads that play mid sentence, thanks for such awesome content.👍
Mega Man Powered Up was crack for my brain back in the day. I spent so much time making custom levels and uploading them when I got the opportunity. The two I remember being proud of was a difficult fire-based obstacle course and a series of 5 levels that progressed through "Atlantis". Another was a prison-break kind of level with an above ground path and an underground path. I still vividly remember loitering in a creepy abandoned two-story shed just to get a good free wi-fi connection to upload stages (such a thing was a rarity in those days lol). Anyway, some damn good times and I wish they'd make a sequel.
Really fun vid! Great to see some love for the PSP, it was a major part of my own gaming upbringing. For real tho, Sony actually had a solid first party lineup on the PSP, especially through Japan Studio. A couple of the studio's games I've played on the console include: - the Patapon series (1, 2, 3) - the LocoRoco series (1, 2, Midnight Carnival) - Ape Quest - Echoshift - The Eye of Judgment: Legends - No Heroes Allowed - Patchwork Heroes Also a special shoutout to another great game on the platform that's playable on Steam, Half-Minute Hero!

20:18 Megaman powered up is so underrated but I wouldn’t be surprised if this and Megaman zero maverick hunter on psp could get rereleased along side each other in the future.
It’s sad that Sony dropped the ball with the Vita given how the PSP still did well. Oh and I still hold out hope for you doing a video on 3DS games like Blaster Master Zero Also in regards to Mega Man Powered Up, I do think that the game would’ve done well on Wii as a budget title. Also I find it baffling that they don’t refer to Mega Man outside of fighting robo-masters as Rock in that game. As for Sonic, I do think that were it not for Sonic 06, they could’ve used the PSP and later the 3DS to do a 3D Sonic game akin to Sonic Adventure or even ports of the Adventure duology
@@islandboy9381 - Expensive proprietary memory card compared to ever popular micro SD card Nintendo 3DS uses. - Lack of first-party support because Sony prefer focusing on PS4, a bigger money maker. - Lack of third-party support. - Despite getting a lot of Japanese-centric games like JRPG and visual novel, those particular genres are pretty niche to gain mainstream attention. So, becasue of those, fewer people interested to buy PS Vita and the vicious cycle continues until discontinuation.
@@islandboy9381Sony didn’t want to support it. The majority of their published games for the PlayStation Vita were multiplatform releases and collections of their older games. Plus the PS4 came out in year two of the Vita and was an instant runaway success, so they didn’t feel the need to put in the work with the Vita anymore, marketing it as a companion to the PS4 during its later years.
If you're planning to do PSP games again, I'd recommend "Every Extend Extra". It's a fairly obscure puzzle game by Q Entertainment (Lumines, Meteos, Child of Eden) in which you blow up your own ship to do long combo chains to reach a quota score. It certainly falls under the label of colorful.
When Disgaea 7 came out this year I went crazy and started collecting every game in the Disgaeaverse I could find. Not just the main line, I'm talking about phantom brave, makai kingdom, soul nomad... And speaking about strange colorful games on the PSP and Disgaea, there's the prinny duology. Really challenging but extremely fun 2D platformers. Anyone who likes the Disgaea series should give them a shot.

The PSP was so ahead of it's time and with the introduction of CFW in the mid 2000's really exploited the system's potential to the max. Spending hours and hours playing games like NFS Carbon: Own The City, Sonic Rivals, Crisis Core, Daxter, Death Jr, GTA Liberty & Vice City Stories, Dissidia 012, Yugioh Tagforce 1-5, Smackdown Vs Raw, PSP Revolution "A homebrew Port of DDR" GBC, GBA, NES & SNES emulation etc. You wanted it something to play and the PSP got it, an amazing and very versatile library for a great handheld.
There's one PSP game that I feel gets none of the credit it deserves. Dead Head Fred. I think most of us chalked it up to "That weird game cover we saw at Blockbuster". But the game is such a fun experience, with brilliant writing and voice acting and ... passable gameplay...
Here's some recommendations for the upcoming DS vid that might not be mentioned in many others' lists: - Coropata : A puzzle game like The Amazing Machine but it's leading a little girl to safety. - Retro Game Challenge / Game Center CX: Arino no Chousenjou : based on the Japanese TV show about game culture. 2 games giving the vibe of playing a game in the late 80s/early 90s with cheat codes in magazines and awaiting the new release. It has its own set of game parodies that aren't too bad. The sequel was Japan only as was the 3DS title but the 2nd DS game has a translation patch. - Utacchi : a DS spin-off of Konami's colorful pop'n music rhythm game. pop'n had some PSP releases along with multiple PS1/PS2/DC home ports and a bit of a maligned Wii game. Utacchi instead uses the touch pad to tap/swipe notes. It's actually kinda finicky for some flick notes. - Solatorobo : Furry steampunk skyworld mech adventure game set in the same world as Tail Concerto from PS1. Kinda easy, but has Ghibli vibes.
Contact is definitely a DS game that got a lot of hype for imitating Earthbound's look in aesthetics when it comes to character designs, but falls super flat with the actual gameplay. Still, it's presentation has bunch of fun little things that might make it worthy of it's own segment.
I don't know if colorful fits the description but Dead Head Fred I think was PSP exclusive and oozed with so much style. The mc was the mean Scrubs doctor John C. McGinney.
Skate park city is a worth mentioning only Europe release title, it's like jet set radio, but portable and on skate, wacky brake-beat soundtrack and hip tricks.

For your DS video:
- OkamiDen is a sequel to Okami that not everyone knows about
- Radiant Historia is a timeline-jumping RPG that's _really_ good
- Sonic Rush & Rush Adventure were fun 2D games that introduced Blaze the Cat
- The World Ends With You is an RPG in an urban setting with slick visuals
Honestly my thoughts. Some people might forget they come from the PSP/Vita though, and I'd say many people know _of_ the games but not really what they are.
I love Radiant Historia. It’s a real shame what Perfect Chronology did to the artstyle
@@Gloomdrakeluckily you can still play it with the old art if you got the dlc
Thank you so much for including megaman powered up and pointing out how much extra they went. Also the drop of dudes rap (megaman drops Jan. 7th) was amazing
That remake AMV Tribute based on the classic 2000s commercial/trailer of Disgaea 1 was wonderful.
Really sums up the badass absurdly over the top exaggerated action and feeling of being an unstoppable force of nature wreacking havok on all who appose you that is core piece of Disgaea's identity as a series.
God, that early 2000s voice acting is super nostalgic. Haven't heard those VA in ages. Almost makes me want to get into Disgaea just for that.
“Psp, it’s a nut you can play with outside “
- Sony
For either another PS2 or PSP video, seeing Gitaroo Man get talked about would be great. It's a rhythm game that's stuck with me ever since I beat it at the beginning of this year, and it feels as if there's nothing truly like it.
Amen to that.
I have a PSP emulator that I had basically exclusively to play the LocoRoco games, nice to learn about some other cool ones to check out! Awesome video as always.
Also I'm a Mega Man fan so awesome to see you talk about one of the games.
Ayo I know you on Twitter
Hi lmao
Thank you for featuring Disgaea, I feel the same way about the trio and the other colorful characters! They do kinda remind me of Billy and Mandy (and Grim), just a couple of vitriolic friends facing unspeakable horrors. Just fyi, those images with the sprawl of characters is from the spin off novels that aren't canon but still interesting to read. Unfortunately, I'm not certain if all of them were translated but someone did some of them!
I always learn something new about the valley when I watch your videos. Also your videos have brought me so much comfort for 10 years now. It's to the point where I can be so depressed but I see you uploaded something, I can chill alone in my apartment couch, underneath my blanket, and just relax and forget about the world. I love showing your videos to several of my friends, even my friends, who have zero interest in any of this, like your content. I love everything you do, Pan. I hope you know how much your videos mean to me and many others. Can't wait to support your show once it's out, puro 956 ALV
Almost an hour of RebelTaxi, that definitely helps me throw the week
Our Messiah has returned! Love your content and aesthetic man. You’re one of the main reasons I love the 2000s video game scene as much as I do lol. Thanks.
the way how you ended up this video with disgaea is just perfect,, i love it, you should defenetly give Disgaea Infinite or the Prinny games a shot since those are in the PSP as well
I love his Strange and Colorful games videos! I would love to see him tackle on thr Strange and Colorful Arcade Games, where he would talk about the arcade exclusive games like Namco's Taiko no Tatsujin, Sega's Let's Go Jungle, Taito's Haunted Museum, and Konami's Wartran Troopers and Action Deka!
REBELTAXI IS BACK YAY!!!! I love the way these videos are edited =)
That was fun! As always I appreciate your videos, Pan. They're like miniature, home theater events I always enjoy watching. I was thoroughly entertained and informed; whether on what new games to try, or what new music to go hunting for. Since 2014, it's always been great hearing you share your knowledge or sentiments on our entertainment. Here's to more in the future---and the the success of your Loki pilot, bro!
Still have my modded silver psp 2000 to this day. Great little console for emulation and has a fairly big library full of all sorts of classics!
I’m so glad somebody is finally saying something good about Sonic Rivals. I love the game
If you cover DS games there's an obscure one I had called Tornado. It's like Katamari but insits that you constantly spin your stylus and blow into microphone.
I love your videos, they're the closest thing to Saturday morning cartoons.
He released this on the same day the Madame Web trailer came out, featuring a PSP. Coincidence? Probably.
I WAS LOOKING AT THAT TRAILER seconds ago. They took out the silver circle in the back of that PSP. Is this movie in that past?
@@RebelTaxi Surreal knowing that a PSP marks the film as a period piece
Being born in the mid 2000s I’m glad Rebel taxi can capture some of the aesthetic that I missed out on
"I've got so few options for run-and-jump racers."
Rayman Arena: "Stop pretending I don't exist!"
That disgaea outro was sick great job man.
your new naration style is a straight up acid trip. It's a great addition to you're already impressive repetiore of balance between jest and informative deliberation. What'd you put in that Jam my mojito?
Yo! You're finally talking about Disgaea! Nice! I do hope in that next DS video you've mentioned, I hope you give a shoutout to The World Ends With You, especially since you mentioned it when you talked about Tetsuya Nomura in Samurai Legend Musashi on your PS2 video
I can’t believe I’ve been getting off of school or work to a rebel taxi video for almost a decade.
The eyecatches are beautiful... The first one nearly drove me to tears
I´m not a megaman fan but that remake sounds great, it shows a level of effort they just don´t put into games anymore
Gitaroo-man might be a fun game to look into sometime. I think it was originally a PS2 game but I have the PSP port. Super unique and fun rhythm game
The level of marketing that Infected had was wild. Pan truly finds the most fascinating games that I've never heard of.
Yo, I've been looking forward to this video since you announced it. This is gonna be the good stuff.
The Disgaea segment brought back many nostalgic memories 😊
Pan i finished Disgaea because of you!! Thanks for the recomendation
A couple of the studio's games I've played on the console include:
- the Patapon series (1, 2, 3)
- the LocoRoco series (1, 2, Midnight Carnival)
- Ape Quest
- Echoshift
- The Eye of Judgment: Legends
- No Heroes Allowed
- Patchwork Heroes
Also a special shoutout to another great game on the platform that's playable on Steam, Half-Minute Hero!
People write off the PSP because of all the ports and whatnot, but honestly the system was so wonderfully weird and unique. I really love it.
I'm just happy there are so many PS2 ports
Makes emulating them so much easier
I dont know what a "Disgae" is, but I dont want my parents walking in on me watching that
Good thing the PSP is portable
thx for the INFECTED game cover. Its my fav game and the PSP helped my a lot back in my school days as a strange kid to find some cool friends to hang with and play. Hello to Theo if you reading this!
(+[ ]::)
By the way, this is my favorite series you've been making Pan. Keep it up, I always love these videos.
I appreciate showing some light on Disgaea, I love the first two games stories so much.
I can see why Spider-Man 2's soundtrack was too killer. Good for spreading the word about Disgaea! What an underrated JRPG franchise.
When that DS games video arrives with TWEWY finally reviewed on this channel, my life will be complete.
Battle of the bands feels like it spawned the "There I ruined it" guy.
I love how he's playing Spiderman on a PSP. Maybe someone should tell him to review some Lego TV shows in the near future. I'd love a review on every Lego TV show ever made. That will be great for him to do. 36:25 36:45 34:37 30:40
20:18 Megaman powered up is so underrated but I wouldn’t be surprised if this and Megaman zero maverick hunter on psp could get rereleased along side each other in the future.
It’s sad that Sony dropped the ball with the Vita given how the PSP still did well.
Oh and I still hold out hope for you doing a video on 3DS games like Blaster Master Zero
Also in regards to Mega Man Powered Up, I do think that the game would’ve done well on Wii as a budget title.
Why did the Vita fail anyway? It's a pretty good handheld.
How on earth is Fat Princess not in a video about colorful and weird psp games?
51 minute video? We're in for a treat!!
Banger video yet again, Pan. You always bring quality and attitude that's sorely missed from most gaming content these days.
"Was NetherRealm Studios in charge?" Damn, that hurt lol
Man could you imagine a game where losing makes it so that you have to equip someone else's furry cosmetic set and it can spread throughout the entire world until everyone is entrapped in involuntary fur suits
4:25 is that matt mcmuscles in the corner lmao
Another fantastic video, Pan. Your editing style continues to be amazing and your humor continues to be absolutely insane in the best ways. "I believe in God but I praise no landlord" is just one of the many hilarious quotes in the vid. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the Loki IRL pilot.
Legitimately the few channels left on this hellsite that I actually get excited for when a new video drops.
Colorful game recommendations for ps4 “no straight roads” ,need for speed unbound , senran kagura burst renewal, onee chanbara origin, river city girls, psychonauts 2,indivisible,kill la kill the game, concrete genie, street fighter 6
Highly recommend checking out Zettai Hero Project too. Same studio behind Disgaea, but it's a tokusatsu-themed Mystery Dungeon type game. One of the best on the system.
Been playing that. Wanted to cover it, but it makes more sense to cover Disgaea 1st since a lot of NIS games share elements
As some one who used to physically own the Disgaea anime and made his ps2 explode for playing Disgaea 2 religiously for endless hours, i apreciate that Disgaea montage.
Mega man Maverick Hunter x was one of my all time fan games as a, i beat it with x twice and with vile and i would use the button lock on there to just listen to the music with earbuds while I did chores and stuff
The joke about your dad falling asleep to ice road truckers really hit home for me
Here's some recommendations for the upcoming DS vid that might not be mentioned in many others' lists:
- Coropata : A puzzle game like The Amazing Machine but it's leading a little girl to safety.
You sure needed to include ´´GTA Vice City Stories´´, the gta games on vice city are incredibly colorful, 1980sful and explicit
The only PSP games i played growing up were Sonic rivals, worms and one of the Legend of heroes games, those were cool.
U better give disgayyeah the spotlight and respect it deserves mutafuka.. such an underrated franchise my personal fav is the 5th game
"I believe in God, but I praise no landlord." LOL 😆
31:13 2016 was such a different time.
I don't know if colorful fits the description but Dead Head Fred I think was PSP exclusive and oozed with so much style. The mc was the mean Scrubs doctor John C. McGinney.
Thank you Pan, Thank you give Disgaea it's due. More people need to play this amazing Series!
27:39 "Boo I'm a ghost." - RebelTaxi
Skate park city is a worth mentioning only Europe release title, it's like jet set radio, but portable and on skate, wacky brake-beat soundtrack and hip tricks.
Bro what the hell is your channel, I’m like, transported back to the early 2000s, I was freaking out for a second, love this video.
ayyyyy caught the Repo: The Genetic Opera reference haha
absolutely loved this video, man!
Side note: you can cancel out of the slide by holding up then pressing jump, though the game never tells you about this
For the Psp, I played God of war, Daxter, Rachet and clank, and Death Jr, and Hellboy. F-ing loved God of war, Death Jr and Hellboy.
