Tailwind is absolutely a secret weapon! I don't take it on every day hike but for the super long days that stuff makes a MASSIVE difference! Love all these food ideas, and that many of them are smaller less well known companies. Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! LOVE that backdrop! I used to dehydrate but it became a drag to keep doing. My go-to snack for day hikes and biking has been generic fig newtons and dates. I make my own oatmeal mix with fruits and nuts. Enjoy!
AlpenFuel is really good, Orange Pecan is a fav breakfast, I really like that they have a real nice selection with Stoveless entree's as well, thank you for the video.
One of your previous videos, (forgive me, I don’t remember which one) you ate a homemade dehydrated meal of rice, chicken, beans, etc. Do you still make your own dehydrated meals, or do you rely solely on the ready-made ones now? If you do still make your own, please do a video on them! I’m new to backpacking, but am a long-time foodie, and would prefer to make my own. Stay awesome! 👍🏻👍🏻
The options you present do seem pretty tasty but also significantly more expensive than the foods I usually carry. Did you purchase all of these or did the manufacturers give you some of it?
Golden larches! I hope to go see some this weekend. As for the food, I found that Greenbelly Meal Bars, while tasty, was boring texture wise. The entire meal has the same mouth feel. I know, it's a bar, so of course it's the same texture. But I find it boring as a meal substitute.
It's weird to say but I've been backpacking and paddling for over 20 years but I've never tried any premade meals 🤔 I make my own but the electrolytes are a great idea
Good to see that we can get the electrolytes here in the Netherlands as well. Definately going to give them a try. Do you drink a package all at once or just mix it with water and drink it troughout the day?
@@JustinOutdoors ok. It's seriously expensive to send stuff overseas, and they cost like 100 sek a portion, but I'll think about it 😊💭 It would be fun to do.
Your knees are hurting from arthritis caused by inflammation from all of the high carb foods. I had to give up mountain biking and hiking in my early 40s because very bad knee pain, shoulder pain and chronic back pain. I went on a very low-carb, eat-based, way of eating when I was 50. I'm now 56 and can hike and bike all day long with ZERO pain. I also went from 193# to 170# and can usually hike for the first 10 miles with no food. Oatmeal was the worst food for me for joint pain. As soon as in hits your mouth it turns to sugar, which raises your blood glucose, raising your insulin levels and hence causing inflammation. Listen to the Low Carb MD podcast.

I have Hearty Harvest for a trip in a few weeks, super pumped to have it!
good advice 👍
Can you find all these in stores in canmore?
I like food
PROTIP: dehydrate your own. it's easy. potatoes + sauce of choice. yum

When you ate your dinner at the end of the day did you eat at your campsite or did you eat before you got there?
A little bit of both, depending on the day - more often before I got to camp though
@@JustinOutdoors that’s what I was doing last summer, eating about a mile before camp. I’m pretty paranoid about bears. Lol
Is that Pokaterra Ridge? Love your videos!!
It is!
with any electrolyte mixes that are flavored, would want to put those and your water bottle in your bear container?

I usually mix in a package and drink it over an hour or two
@@JustinOutdoors thanks
Have you tried REAL Turmat or Blå Band?
Nope!

It would be fun to do.
I think you left out the awesome detail that Naak bars contain cricket protein!

I think you look kinda like the imagine dragons singer Dan reynolds
We need a gofundme for Justin to get a new pair of gloves hole free!
Bushka is closing up and going out of business
Yikes, nearly 20g of saturated fat in one of those alpen oatmeal packs.
